In one Czech magazine they mentioned, that reason for failing BXE were two. Bed series of big end bearing, which wears out prematurely and rod bolts (ones holding the rod cap) being over torqued. But it's pretty simple to replace bearing and bolts (always replace bolts too, as they are torque to yield and can not be reused).
My old BXE did the inevitable and kicked it's foot out the bed (conrod went through block). Did a complete engine swap to an ASZ which had only done 67k miles and it's been a dream with zero issues. If you recently purchased a car with the BXE engine, get rid of it as soon as possible. It's not a question of if but when. The damage will cost you a good penny believe me.
My Bxe has 308,000 km, remapped to 150bhp since 240,000, I own it 4 years, its going great, engine all original parts, its 2010, maybe it wasn't all years of bxe 🤔
I am owner of passat b6 bxe engine, 5 years and 80k km since I got the car. At the moment is at 322k km, zero engine problems. I change the oil every 6-7k km, 2-3 times oil change a year.
@@maxdamage3814 As standard most are fine, the pre 2007 models also did not suffer from the conrod issue, perhaps that's why you are ok. Mine was fully stage 2 nonetheless, 1856 hybrid turbo upgrade, EGR delete, fully de-catted with a race exhaust, pipercross panel filter, upgraded injectors (PD130) and a stage 2 remap.
Mine is 2008, stock anyway. I am thinking anyway about converting to ASZ, how much do you need together with an engine from a donner car? Injectors? Turbo? Ecu or just remap?
We can put it that way, yes. If it is an horizontal engine application, yes, the ASZ or ARL are the most viable options. If it is a longitudinal you have the AWX or AVF which are the same that the ASZ but used in longitudinal application like the Audi a4 or vw passat for example.
I have an asz engine in the passat B5.5 and runs great no problems. I did haveto use a tap to scrape the rusty unused thread holes to bolt on the side mounts. you can put an asz in a longitudinal car. there wasnt alot to swap around just mostly coolant and fuel pipes and a crank pulley and intake manifold goes the other way. its an easy job.
Thanks for ur videos dude. I have to fix my BPX Cupra 05' with 340.000 kms i will use your videos for learn much more about my 1.9tdi. Greetings from Barcelona. :-)
Did the bxe have 4cw crank or 8cw? Also the bxe, bls etc was made as a lighter build.. less mass to move for eco and emission purposes and takes less energy to spin up. Same as the saab b205 engines from the older 204 and also the nissan sr20de went with lighter build on there pistons etc...all in the pursuit of using less fuel. Thanks for this video👌
I heard that the 2007 and 2008 bxe engines that the crank shaft in a lot of them was not balanced properly causing the conrod to snap. In later 2009 and 2010 that problem was solved. Don't know if that's true? I have a 2010 skoda with bxe with 260thousand on it and so far so good.
Hello colleague, do you know what the crankshaft size tolerances are (ASZ), officially there are 54mm (for main bearings) and 51mm (for connecting rod bearings), but VW does not write in the service manuals what the wear rate is, if you could help me i would like to mention you in the next video😇
Hi again, i want to fit a higher ratio dsg6 to a caddy3 1.9tdi with a factory fitted dsg6 code KTC slow final drive. Will it work or will the higher ratio confuse the bls ecu?.
Looks like the B series of the 1.9PD are not so good in comparison to the A series with exception of BLT . I have BRS engine code in Vw T5 and looking at putting ASZ

ATD is a PD100, narrower journals in the block/crank/rods is it's weakest point. Rods are also narrower and not asking strong as the pd130 ones. Pistons are different too in various aspects. Oil pump is basically the same.
hi bro i have also 2 ATD engines :) one its in a mk4 with orginal 101hp with 270.000km :) CAT OFF AND EGR OFF and without oil consumption !!! its work like new! and other ATD in a Scoda fabia remap at 140hp :) also no problem! with 330.000km ! only new injectors ... respect from Montenegro :)

@@JMRaceWorks sorry but i thing connecting rod are different only on diammeter from crankshaft ATD have 50.6mm and ASZ have 53.7mm.. Heigh 144mm are same Bolt is same 26.01mm Width is same on top rod 24.95mm ATD have stronger crankshaft but weak connecting rod... then when u buy ZRP rod u have stronger engine then ASZ.... Am i wrong or not....?
@@YooHoostujky don't get me wrong, but... that is definitely wrong. The crankshaft on a pd100/pd115 (its the same part number) is definitely weaker then the pd130/pd150. Mainly due to smaller journals, with smaller crankshaft bearings and smaller conrod bearing shells. Conrods are also weaker on the pd100, although better then the pd115. Oil pump on the pd100 is not designed to provide as much pressure as the pd130/150 ones, and the oil spray jets are also smaller. Head bolts on the pd100 are smaller grade then the 10.9 bolts on the pd130 and the 12.9 bolts on the pd150. Injectors and turbo as we all know are smaller, but easy to replace. The block on the pd100 and the one from the pd115 (different blocks although they share the same crankshaft journal size) so again, back to the same restriction on crankshafts. This is just from memory, the list goes on. If you disassemble a pd100 engine along with a vp90/vp110 engine, you will see the pd100 is basically a vp engine with a pd head... I also have one of my golf's (variant) with a pd100 running past 400.000kms with zero issues besides a dmf at around 350.000, great engines, and they do take mods well, but never as well as a pd130...
i actually tried to fit a 6 gear asz gearbox on my bkc engine and it was impossible, is there any six gear gearbox that can fit on my engine, what will you recommend
