Some people often get confused with the differences between lunges, split squats and Bulgarian split squats. This is why in this video, Ben will be covering the differences in these movements and how to perform each movement correctly.

Good stuff. But it would have been nice to hear which muscles are emphasized for each exercise.

I wish you could explain what was the muscle worked ? Wich works most for glutes and hamstrings

Thanks for the video! Great content. I always struggle with ankle mobility to be able to go into a deep squat or lunge. What’s best way to work on this? Should I just do split squat at my max range or is there something else supplementary?

Thanks for your kind words! Here are some things you can consider: 1) PNF stretching on your calves prior to your workout. You can do that on the leg press machine or under load free standing on wedge. 2) Regress the split squat into a front foot elevated version. The aim is to keep the front heel flat as you descend fully. As such, choose a height that you can do so comfortably on, then progress it by lowering the platform. Hope that helps!

I think this might be the only time I’ve ever heard that in a lunge you should extend the knee past the toes. It seems common advice is the opposite!

lunge doesn't, you just need to hear him more clearly, that's spilt squat

Check kneesovertoes guy. Common advice (as it often is) is outdated and incorrect.

With the Bulgarian split squat if you lean forward dosent that target your glutes more?😊

That's why I dont do any of these clownish moves... to simplify it just do single leg legpress..if poeple too poor or don't have access to one then yea this will work for u

Only on the side glutes little bit.....you can't do split squats targeting all glutes. Even if you elevate your foot
