Thermaltake Released the SWAFAN EX 12 ARGB SYNC kit, which is an identical fan to the SWAFAN EX 12 RGB kit but connects in a distinctly different way. I was curious and excited when I saw how the ARGB SYNC kit connected as it may be more useful to you than the original kit.
Take a look at this new kit and discuss where it can connect. We've looked at this fan already, but this got my attention and maybe it has yours as well, either way, be aware that there are two kits available for the SWAFAN EX 12.....

This seems to answer my questions, been wanting to get some of these for my h6 flow case, 6 total 120mm fans and 2 140mm. Think im going to pick up that cooler master hub and see how it all plays out lol

Just remove the +5v wire from the icue hardware and provide power to the LEDs from a dedicated 5v power source with the correct amp rating.

How would be the rear, front and bottom fans interconnection in this particular kit? Is it possible to daisy chain them through the cables, so I can interconnect rear, upper, bottom and front fans together using only one last cable into the motherboard? I'm planning to use 6 of these fans and my mobo has only one ARGB socket. I didn't see anything about it in any of the videos of this kit on RU-vid, please help me. Thank you!

It comes down to power draw. The section you want is the amps per fan.

I just picked up 8 swafan ex14 argb last week and I think I'm just gonna pick up the razer argb controller (it has 6 ports RGB only) and call it a day. Edit: 6 ports not 8
@John-Wolfe
@John-Wolfe Месяц назад
So question. I ordered the argb fans and got the rgb fans. I have 3 argb fans already in my computer. So my question is this: can i use the ARGB connector cables with the rgb fans? Or vice versa? Are the cables interchangeable between the swafan models?
@HardwareArtisan
@HardwareArtisan Месяц назад
Hi John-Wolfe, to the best of my knowledge the fans are exactly the same themselves including the cable attachment point, just the cable connections are different. I see no issues with swapping cables amongst them, but I don't recall trying it. Good Luck, have fun and thanks for watching!

Good move by thermaltake to do this. I know a large number of people that won't use their fans because of their software. This takes away that wall so they can try them out.

So the TT sync controller does not work with the swafan RGB? So whats the solution? Either use the corsair controller or either steal an ARGB cable?
@HardwareArtisan
@HardwareArtisan 2 месяца назад
Hi mr_cramberry , There are two versions of the swafan EX 12....There is the "SWAFAN EX 12 RGB" - This version includes a TTSYNC Controller for use with the TTRGB plus software. The cables in the kit are designed to connect to this controller. The one downside of this controller is you cannot sync it with any other source (motherboard, corsair, etc), you have to use their software. The other version, "SWAFAN EX 12 ARGB SYNC" does not include the TTSYNC controller, but the cables are the standard connectors, 4 pin PWM and 3 pin ARGB. You can connect and sync these fans to your motherboard header, or other ARGB source, including Corsair (with adapter cables). TT RGB Plus software isn't my favorite software, so I Really like and appreciate that Thermaltake release a different version so you have the choice of using their ecosystem or syncing it with your own. The naming conventions are confusing though. Aside from that, the fans are the same and the fan side of the connection is the same, these are awesome fans IMO. I hope that helps, thanks for watching!!!

still confused with like what each cable goes to, you still need to plug a cable into the motherboard for every 3 fans? like all the cables dont just go to the hub and then hub plugs in? seems very complicated compared to like lian li tl fans.
@HardwareArtisan
@HardwareArtisan 6 месяцев назад
Hi balpz3803, for the ARGB version in this video, you connect all three fans together and then one of the cable assemblies, this then simply turns into a single 5v ARGB connector and a single 4 pin PWM connector.....you would plug these connectors into either your motherboards Fan PWM connection and 5v ARGB connector (to run all 3 fans), or a PWM/RGB hub of your choice, this kit doesn't come with a hub of any kind. The other version, simply marked RGB, uses the thermaltake connector which merges the pwm and rgb connections into a single connector. This kit comes with a HUB and you use TT RGB PLUS software to control it, this set will not connect or use your motherboard for RGB control, you're kind of locked into the TT RGB PLUS ecosystem. It's confusing that they have two versions of this kit, the fans are the same, just the cable connections are different depending on what control you want. I hope that helps a bit, thanks for watching!!!, Good Luck and Have Fun!!!

I’m in the process of building my very first gaming pc and I’m using the Snow White Hyte Y70 case and I want to use the thermaltake EX12 and EX 14 fans but I have no clue which ones I’ll need. I know I don’t have enough headers on the mobo I’m going to use which is the all white aorus X670E pro X I want 3 120mm side and bottom fans and 3 more on the top for my AIO and 1 140mm fan on the back using the bottom and side as Intake and AIO fans and back 140mm as exhaust but I want the light to be synced with the rest of the rgb with the board, GPU and ram sticks. I’m soooo confused on what to do I don’t even know what to search for and I don’t want additional software running in the background constantly causing performance lose either!! 🤯🤯

Thermaltake do seem to have a mish mash of connectors on their devices which can get confusing across their differing offerings. As to having more than one on a channel, they could really do with something like a channel selector switch/ dip switch on each fan to make seperate software control easier.
@HardwareArtisan
@HardwareArtisan 8 месяцев назад
Hi Arachnoidification, yea, it was confusing for sure, I just happened to stumble on this other kit not realizing it was a thing. They could certainly improve the offering, but it's still really cool! No pun intended, haha. Thanks for watching!!!

You talked a lot but are the fans really the same as you say in the video title? So can you just mix the fans of the RGB and the ARGB kit? BTW it's a 9 pin connector but only 7 pins are used...
@shrimp_p4rm
@shrimp_p4rm 2 месяца назад
If anyone is a little confused, ignore the lack of rgb hub sold with the ARGB model, and ignore the stuff about corsair. None of that is needed. Also you should sub to this channel because he gets in to the important nitty gritty in a lot of videos, such as power draw on the fans on this model. (often a lot of mid/cheap motherboard fan/rgb connections do not have enough juice to run multiple fans)

Does the ARGB fan cable work on the RGB fans?
@HardwareArtisan
@HardwareArtisan 2 месяца назад
Hi activisionsucks5574, that's a great question. Yes, the fans appear to the be the same in both kits. It's just that the ARGB sync fans include the different cable and no controller. That cable should work with fans from the RGB version as the fans themselves are identical. Thanks for watching, good luck and have fun!!!

TT Swafan need more time. Combo of Lian Li daisy chain and removable blades is awesome. Major flaw: magnetic clips between fans don't slot like lian li. Swafan are held by weak magnetic bond. Not convenient to install. Using multiple fans on a rail, tighten unevenly, bonds between fans will misalign and won't run. To much hassle when you want to get a build done.

Im ignorant to PC's so this question might sound dumb but does Thermaltake not provide a hub or make a hub to hook up these fans? Why are you dependent on the Corsair hub?
@HardwareArtisan
@HardwareArtisan 7 месяцев назад
Hi RogueStatusX, great question, let me clarify. Thermaltake offers the SWAFAN EX 12 ARGB fans in 2 different KITS. One of them includes a controller that controls the fans RGB and SPEED through TTRGBPLUS software, the kit has a controller and the cables included connect to that controller, but thermaltake uses a non standard fan connector. This kit, which is the same fan, doesn't include a controller and instead includes a cable that has standard connections, a 4 pin pwm connector and a 3 pin ARGB connection. You can connect these fans to your motherboard or other RGB controller with the standard 3 pin ARGB connection. I adapted and synced them with a CORSAIR controller because I personally like the iCUE software better than some of the other solutions, but you can choose which method to use. Either way, it's the same fan, just different connection and control methods. Let me know if that doesn't clear it up, good luck and have fun, thanks for watching!!!

My kid was saying that the corsair node he has, which is the basic node, not the pro or commander - has a proprietary connector for corsair fans and he doesn't think these fans would plug into his hub - so i watched your video and worded my question wrong. Like i said, i don't know much about PC's so sorry that I was wrong in my wording in the first place. He likes these fans but says he doesn't want to add another hub because the space in the back of his case is already limited and he has wires all over the place. He's only 13 and doesn't know too much his self lol @@HardwareArtisan

need 8 fans for my pc. so will i just buy 3 sets of 3 of these and set them up normally?
@HardwareArtisan
@HardwareArtisan 7 месяцев назад
Hi zay3893, That will work, but realy depends on how you plan on controlling them. If you plan on using your motherboard (or another RGB controller) along with RGB and FAN hubs, these standard connection fans will work great. Thanks for Watching!!!
