Not everybody in a band has solo HITs. This song didn't do very well but Big Log, Tall Cool One, Sea of Love (as the Honeydrippers), In the Mood, Little by Little were all top 40 hits.

"Tall Cool One" was a hit that featured samples from many Zep songs. "Tie Dye On The Highway" is from his 5th LP and is a scorcher I hope you react to. And if you want to hear a very different side of Plant hit anything off his 3rd LP "Shaken 'n' Stirred." That disc is a trip!

Solo plant is quite tasty in all of his albums. Fan of the Principle of Moments album, Now and Zen and Manic Nirvana, well...hell all of 'em :-) Rob rabbit hole is not a waste. Ty!

After the band's dissolution, Plant began his career as a solo artist and collaborator with other musicians. Encouraged by English musician Phil Collins, who backed Plant on drums, he recorded the solo albums Pictures at Eleven (1982) and The Principle of Moments (1983).Plant had several hits after the Zep years. "Big Log"...."Come Into My Life".... "In The Mood"

He also did one album with the 'Honeydrippers' in 1981 along with Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page...

Another very smart analysis of this song. BTW... Tone and Volume are now perfect again. Cool

As mentioned below you should check out the video version of his rendition of "Sea of Love". This song was first recorded and co-written by Phil Phillips in 1959, peaked at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100, and #1 on the U.S. Billboard R&B chart. A way different side of Robert Plant.

After John Bonham's death in 1980 the remaining members of Led Zeppelin decided there could not be Led Zep without him. Thus began Robert Plants solo career. For me the most impressive part is the fact that he did not rely on the Led Zep sound at all. Each solo album sounds a little different from the next. He wouldn't return to somewhat of the Zep sound until The Mighty ReArranger in 2005. Mostly the including of the middle eastern instruments & rhythms. Always interesting & evolving he carved out quite a solo career and his work with Alison Krauss is something really special. They mesh together really well.

On Tall Cool One, Plant samples Led Zeppelin. But I still agree with what you're saying.

There's absolutely no doubt when you hear his voice... incredibly unique! Phil Collins is also an incredible song writer as well.

He's still singing in his mid70s and has paired and toured recently with Alison Krauss for a couple of albums. The first of which was the 2007(or 08) album of the year. In concert he still uses a few of the Led Zeppelin songbook and with Alison does an excellent version of 'The battle of Evermore'. This was the only song LZ recorded with a guest vocalist. Alison is also a violinist. Cheers ✌

Robert has continued to record and perform since 1980 when LZ disbanded. He's still performing - saw him last year with Alison Krauss - Americana music. Very, very different from LZ but wonderful. Thanks for the reaction.

"While My Guitar Gently Weeps" cover from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame with Prince, Tom Petty, etc... While we're at it... Heart from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame covering "Stairway to Heaven". If you haven't heard Heart, that's a new rabbit hole for you. Barracuda, Magic Man, Crazy on You, Alone, Never, Straight On, Even it Up. Any of those, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I like the acoustic guitar in this one but Page is not far he plays in Heaven knows and it's probably him who play the acoustic. Did you read about Led Zeppelin? When you talk about the ship need to take another direction but you are not alone to take decision. When Bonham died they would not have told everything about the disgraceful manner of his death. There was of course some alcohol abuse but it was a wake-up call for the band members at the same time. So the boat has changed course. Thanks for the song.

That's a lot of vodka. I guess they don't talk about the drug and maybe girls too. But read this Bonham reportedly began drinking early in the day, continuing to consume copious amounts of alcohol well into the evening. Not long after the group's rehearsals had wrapped up for the night, Bonham passed out in a drunken state and would never wake up. In the weeks following Bonham's death, The Guardian reported that Bonham had consumed "about 40 measures of vodka in 12 hours." At the inquest of Bonham's death, his assistant Rex King told the authorities how he and Page's assistant Albert Hobbs had put Bonham to bed that evening. On the morning of Sept. 25, Led Zeppelin's road manager Ben Lefevre attempted to stir Bonham but noticed that something was indeed wrong with the drummer. After unsuccessfully searching for a pulse, Lefevre called an ambulance. A sample taken from Bonham's bladder showed an alcohol level of 276 milligrams per hundred milliliters. Bonhams's death was ruled accidental after it was determined that he choked to death. Pathologist Dr. Edmund Hemstead reportedly said, "This indicated he inhaled the vomit but didn't die immediately as the result of that, and that he died some hours later due to the shocked state on inhaling vomit, during which time the alcohol in his blood would have broken down."
