Can I know why you want to project texture? if you have quad faces project them and use the ThruPaint plugin on quads and textured them like in this video, by the way, there are two plugins. which I think will help you. I don't remember their names. give me a little time I will share the name with you soon or maybe one quick video. Thanks

@@TutorialsUp the terrain wont be regular quads, cos you have to cut a road out of the whole terrain, but thank you very much for the reply. not sure how to send you a screenshot link to explain more cos youtube wont let me send link. The question is: how do I make a prefect winding road texture on a terrain surface?

@@TutorialsUp ah, I found my way to do it myself, make a road on flat surface, use Drape to the terrain to cut out a road shape, use Align endpoints to the terrain surface to make the flat road surface fit into the terrain, add texture to it. delete the Draped shape on the terrain, and replace it with the road with texture.

The plugin name is "Quad Face Tools" a very useful tool in quad modeling this also allows to select "loops" and "rings" please watch the full video of this plugin for better understanding. tutorial available on my channel with this name - How To Use QuadFace Tools In Sketchup. Thanks

@@TutorialsUp thanks. When trying to connect a very long set of edges/lines, using the "Shift key and mouse "left button" is tiring and takes time to go through each edge when there are 100s or thousands. I'm sure there should be a lot of optional tools for selecting broken edges or lines to connect them in one click. The only problem with highlighting a square around the selected edges, will takes in other objects in the model and messes up selection. The selection should be able to "isolate" only the lines/edges to be able to group, or weld edges without including other unrelated objects in the model.

Did you ever use the "SketchUV" plugin besides It has very advanced UV features it also has a "Path Select tool" which is very useful to select long connected edges in a very easy way. This is why I create a separate video on this tool please search this hopefully you will find the video "Path Select and Save Selection tools for SketchUp 2021" Thanks hope this helps

@@TutorialsUp I haven't heard about the 'Path Select' tool, but it sounds logical for the use and from the title name. So I think it will be the right option for me. Thanks. I only know when isolating long broken lines from within a complex model, this would come in handy to avoid taking in other objects hopefully.

I know it's not perfect roads 😁 just quick methods for architecture students. by the way, you can replace road texture with other textures like mud track or pathways then it may make sense. 🤔
