I just got back after a 18 year break .I skated from 8-16 years old. I mall grab now cause it was cool back then . Eric Koston was the first person I seen hold it that way lol I also do surfer if I don’t mall grab haha 😂

I thought I was the only one who liked holding my board grip in so the wheel pinches my arm. Everyone calls me dumb because it rips up the side of my pants but idrc I think they look better that way anyways
the “surfer style” with the grip tape in is what i used to do but i’ve fcked up so many pairs of trousers because of the grip rubbing on my leg, just something to bare in mind

Bro that little pinch with the wheels makes all the difference. I board to work and all around town and there have been a few days where that little release of weight is perfect when I'm exhausted
the thing about mall grabbing is that if you wanna hold the board a comfortable way then just hold it surfer style. And if you care about such things then, like you said yourself, surfer style looks better.
surfer with tape in but letting the top truck rest on your forearm, freeing up the hand if needed. if not i hold the rail. theres definitely a name for this.
me walking around with my longboard, carrying it surfer style but with 2 hands cause i’m weak af and it hurts my fingers lmao- sometimes i’ll hold it mall grab but it hits the ground so it’s not the most efficient
Girl tape on the inside with surfer style is so much better for me Atleast I doubt I’m the only one whose arms get scratched the fuck out of with the grip tape outwards that shit irritated my arm so bad
it's really hard to grab the skateboard by the grip tape cause them skateboards are heavy. that's just me tho. I'm 5'1 and very weak so mall grab is the best way to grab.
Mall grab is such a natural way to pick up the board when you kick it up off the ground. If anybody wants to rip on me for it I'll just tell em to go find a pack of scooter gremlins to pick on.
I would recommend to have your grip tape facing outwards instead of inwards cause I used to hold it inwards but now I have big ah holes in my pants and shirts so don’t do that
