What type of fluid do you use? How often to change rear dif fluid? Since the front dif is not used very much (only when in 4wd), should it be changed less often?
You mentioned it took only about 1.5 qts. I just did mine today and ended using all of the 2qts I bought and the fluid still didn’t come out the fill hole. I was on level ground so idk why it wasn’t enough. I have a Chrysler 8.25 rear. I can feel the fluid if I put my finger in the fill hole so I left it alone and went for a test drive and I’m 100% sure my diff is way louder than before the fluid change. Should I add more fluid?? Is it critical for the rear if I don’t fill it till it comes out the fill hole? I mean it can’t be that low if I can feel the fluid.
What about the front diff? Instead of the rubber plug I have a 1/2 square tip screw plug I’m just wondering if it’s the same fluid and same procedure your videos are super helpful I’m currently looking to get as much new fluids running throughout my 2000 xj
Hey, thanks a lot for ur videos. I just acquired a Cherokee XJ 2000. Are AutoZone fluids (brand) good enough for the truck? Everyone is pushing me to use Mopar Parts and fluids. What's ur opinion about /experience with AutoZone fluids? Thanks again, Admiral! (Sorry for My English. I speak spanish)
super helpful channel!super easy to keep up with and doesnt come off as condescending like some jeepers are to us new guys! thank you so much and keep up the good work
I got new gears. Part of the break-in procedure is to change the diff fluid after about 100 miles. I change mine about once per year or after any deep water crossings.
Tcase drop with some degree shims under the leaf springs for now. Hopefully doing an SYE in the near future. With the 242, there aren't really any normal SYE options so a Hack n Tap is most likely what will happen
yep 75w-140. I have an open differential with a lunchbox locker in it so the heavier diff fluid helps keep the noise down and I don't need to add friction modifier
some XJs came from the factory with a limited slip and others came with an open diff in the rear. If you have a limited slip, then you will need an additive. You wont need it if you have an open diff
