How do I adjust it if my cable doesn’t ratchet back when I step on the throttle? For instance, when I push the plunger back and then I step on the throttle the plunger just stays in place. I have to manually put the plunger back in position.
hello! I have an XJ 4.0 sport with 186 thousand km...what is the ideal oil model to use? At the moment I use 20w50 valvoline...I'm from RJ Brazil. Thank you in advance for the information
Very simple and informational, i'll be doing my own upgrade here on my 96 XJ and wasn't exactly sure how to go about it, but this 8 year old video really put some clarity in my head, thank you!
gotta be a selectable electric locker for me since run a Co2 tank and want to re-gear to a 4.10 or 4.56 setup, i do alot of driving in 3rd gear in my xj.
I found that by putting a floor jack under the trailer hitch and lifting about 3 inches gave enough space to remove the exhaust in one piece without cutting it.
Thanks for the description of each step bro. The only critique I have is you neglected to mention what size wrenches you used. Other than that I appreciate the vid
The only part missing is that it’s nearly impossible for a lot of high mileage XJ’s to get the tranny pan disconnected from the dipstick. I legit tried for almost two hours of prying and tugging. I even took a torch to it but nothing worked. I tried to disconnect the dipstick and take the whole thing out but I could get that either. Finally I just cut the pipe and replaced it with rubber tubing and clamps. 👍🏽
@@AdmiralOffRoad yeah dude lol. I didn’t wanna cut it but saw many people online just saying they cut it and replaced it with tubes and clamps. It’ll also just make it a lot easier in the future now too. Good video though boss
SWEET! Is it a 2000 or 2001? I have a grey 2000 on 31's three 3/4 inch lift. 3 inch lift spring and 3/4 inch spacer 4 inch springs in rear. I am going to go with 33inch tires.
@AdmiralOffRoad probably stock for now. I am also running a Spartan locker in the rear. I'll probably upgrade the entire axles eventually. Like when the 8.25 breaks an axles. Lol
Great video! I was doing ball joints and the shaft on the passenger side didn't want to go back in so I figured I'd tap it in with a hammer and see if the small chance of not damaging the seal prevailed which it didn't. My XJ was driven with a leak and therefore low fluid. There's definitely metal in the oil and on the magnet but it's okay as long as no damage was done past any of the serviceable parts (gears/bearings). With it being relatively low miles since the leak started and it not being a much worse picture so far, I doubt that it'll be that bad, which I'll inspect when I get the caps off. The video was great for helping me understand this differential. I decided when I was doing the ball joints and purchased the adapters for my press that I do not want to skimp out on special tools so I foresee utilizing loaner tools from the parts store
I just want to know how you managed to get water to flow through the thermostat housing. If the thermostat is in place and functioning properly, running water into the top radiator hose should simply fill up the hose.
Love your video just a small thing dont use those crappy hose clamps😉 get some nice high pressure qualité clamps and you will be sure not to loose all transmission fluid when you are in the middle of nowhere😂
@@AdmiralOffRoad i do not,but the most important thing to use hoseclamps that tighten from both sides, every high pressure clamp for fuel injection etc will do just fine. The ones that you used will cut into your line or just wont be as reliable. Same. Go,s for cooling systems etc use good hardware
Yes, I still really like it! It is a trail boss and has a 1.75 in leveling kit on 35in tires. The install was pretty easy. Took a little extra time just to record but not complicated.
