Just wanted to say that watching you is comforting these days. You bring some order and reliability during these really bad times. Hope you and your mom are well.
I had an accident in the kitchen involving hot bacon 🥓 grease and my dropping then catching the pan and getting splashed with the grease on Thanksgiving and burned my right forearm and into my wrist (right at the bending point 🙄) I’m on day 45 of using this product and you can hardly see the damage. My doctor said that I could expect to have scarring because they were second degree burns and I am very, very fair skinned. I was hoping that it would be improved by Christmas but the right treatments really help!! I’m grateful for my doctor & nurses who helped me, and I’m grateful to Dr. Dray for educating us about ingredients!
She can hold her own! She has a big brain, heart, and great discipline. Her ability to dress down negative people I would think is incredibly fearsome!
I wanna thank you so much for the consistent uploads! This is my sophomore year in college and I always look forward to treating myself to your daily videos after completing my hw and classes for the day :) I hope you and your mother are well!
I’m so envious that you’re able to try out multiple products but literally never have pimples 😂 Just got some hydrocolloid patches for my covid chin zits 🙃
Teresa in Texas CVS; ‘Avarelle Acne Cover Patch, 40CT.’ I just got them bc they were the cheapest per patch 😂 You can get them at every grocery or beauty store now. :)
I’m going to try this. I get keloids and in fact have had several surgically removed from my ear. My gallbladder scar is hypertrophic so this might help!
I used the Dermatix Silicone Gel for my scars since I suffer from Dermatillomania. The only ingredients in it are Polysiloxane and Silicone Dioxide. It worked so well on my scars, even some of my oldest. My scars started fading only after a few uses which shocked me. I wasn't expecting such a quick improvement. However it was a bit expensive but it lasts quite a while as a little goes a long way
We're so lucky to have you advocating for consumers!! I'm a long-time, loyal subscriber and truly appreciate the time and effort that you put into your channel. Keep it up! By the way, you look absolutely stunning!
Honestly, an at-home product that could safely restructure collagen with ice pick scars would be a dream. Perhaps something like an "at-home TCA-Cross", but addresses the risks of post-hyperpigmentation effectively.
Thank you for the review!! I actually been using this for close to a month (along with my adapalene that I have been using for 5 months), and it's good. My face feels much smoother, and that I have less red pimple(s). Just like you said, it will not cure those deep acne scars but it is nice to fill or have the appearance of smooth skin. Overall I would give this a 4/5!! Hope you all have a great Wednesday! 😊🌻🌵💛
@@nicrose9300 @Cristian Ibarra I first started to use the Adapalene then on my fourth and a half month I purchase the gel one. I would recommend of trying one product at a time cause if you try alot of products, your skin will go crazy! Recently, my night skincare is use ponds fragrance free cream to move all of the sunscreen and dirt. Then ise vanicream cleanser to cleanse my face for 60 seconds. I gently pat dry my face (alot of people say to leave it a lil damp but I find that it breaks me out somehow. But if you are using adapalene for the first time, try to have a lil damp face and put moisturizer on top and let it dry before applying the adapalene), and use the Adapelene(yes my skin is now tolerate to it now). Wait 20 to 30 mins and then apply the gel, and use the Differin moisturizer to lock it all. I use the Adapelene every other night or third night, but the gel everyday (but like what Dr. Dray says to do a test patch before using it crazy) & I use the same amount as the Adapelene(pea size) so that it would last longer. Hope this helps!
I’ve been using this in combination w differin 5 days a week and after 3 months i am beginning to see a noticeable difference in my post inflammatory hyperpigmentation
Hi. You said you’re using Differin gel and this differin scar gel together at the same time ? My daughter is still using differin gel for acne but she has much More red scars than acne. Pls Help.
Thank you for starting with the explanation of types of scarring that this can treat. I have rolling strophic scarring and haven’t seen much improvement with topical treatment. I’m hoping to heal my acne and move on to procedures like microneedling, lasers and peels. ❤️
I have those deep set divot scars. I am so glad that you said the truth. If I want to “smooth” out small areas near my scars to improve other areas near by. Maybe it can help other areas. So not a total toss in the garbage. But at least I know what I could expect when it comes to the old deep set scars. Thanks! ❤️
I love your videos, and have learned so much. I would love to see a “weird and random” dermatologist facts video; like Do you ever get grossed out? Do people come up to you in the grocery store and have you look at their rash? What’s the worst thing you’ve ever treated? Have you ever had to examine somebody you knew and was it awkward? lol
Thank you for making this. I saw this the other day and wondered about it. I have mostly atrophic scars and spent a lot of money on useless products so Im gun shy. I might actually give this a try for my hypertrophic scars, but at least I have expectations set for the limits of the products. Thank you for all you do.
Have you tried using a fairly strong acid peel, like a TCA? I improved mine a lot, as well as chicken pox scars on my forehead, by using the peel only on the scars. I would apply in the indentation with a toothpick or those pointed q-tips, let it frost and neutralize.
Hi ,I fell over on my face and have a dent on bridge of my nose and a small hole on forehead it's been almost a month, can this gel help my atrophic scars? if not do you advise any other ingredients,I've been using aloe vera or hyaluronic acid or aquaphor, I'm not sure what I should be using please help.
Thank you for the explanation of scars! I thought this raised scar are my nose was a mole... But it came about after a pimple and is a match to my skin color. So now I know that. And I do have ice pick scars and I have tried so many things. At least now I know that I don't need to throw away my money on creams in hopes of healing that. Thank you!
Thank you so much for your honesty , I suffer from acne scars for many years , I had laser CO2 done twice it did help but only for a couple of years , I try RetinA for many years it also help me a little but not much. Finally I gave up Now I’ve been using Vitamin C and rosehip oil and Vaseline on top of that and I have noticed a great improvement 💯🙏🏻
Thank you for this-very informative. Especially the beginning where you talk about the different post acne types of scarring. I’m going to have to check out your older videos regarding the derm procedures to fix those, because that’s how my acne heals!!! 😭😬😓😳😔 so many different things to try/experiment with but so little time!
great video. i'd love to see a video on road rash, specifically best treatments for scarring once the skin has healed. I recently suffered an accident and am nervous using anything but CerVe Healing Ointment to treat the scarring.
I started using the differin cleanser for acne since I get some breakouts on my chin from birth control and now having to wear masks and so far it’s doing very well after only a few days
Hi Dr Dray, I just wanted to tell you that you were right on the money when you said that topicals in specific are incapable of healing or uplifting indented scars...i've been using the Differin resurfacing gel for almost 2 weeks without any noticeable improvement in my acne scars. Would you say that most topicals in general (retinoids, differin, snail mucin etc) are unable to uplift indented scars?
Oh dear, I was excited thinking I was going to get rid of my acne scars (rolling.) I thought about surgical procedures but couldn't afford it, now at 63, I'm really not interested anymore.
This is helpful! I get a pretty bad itching / allergic reaction to the Mederma Scar Gel product. Not sure which ingredient. I'm looking for alternatives. Also wondering if you are familiar with the Skin Medica Scar Recovery Gel? Is there a reason for the $100 price tag?
@James Avery Mederma is not an effective scar therapy product. Its main ingredient is onion extract which has been proven in peer-reviewed studies to NOT work. It is also not a silicone-based scar treatment, which is effective. Your best option is to try a silicone gel or sheeting product. I like BioCorneum. Good luck.
Good morning Dr. Dray! Excited for this review as I just started using Adapalene about two weeks ago. I always have PIH from any small scratch or bite or acne, so it’s good to know what this product is or isn’t good for.
How do you keep your mascara from getting all over your eyelids? I use the same maybeline mascara and the oils from my moisturizer and sunscreen dissolve it so that I wind up with dark streaks on my upper eyelids where my lashes touch (I don’t even have very long lashes). I switched to the waterproof mascara, but it hasn’t helped at all.
I never had any marks left after I got a zit when I was young. Once I hit 60, I now get a red mark after a zit. Why did this start happening? I loved how this was so educational and informative.
I’ve been using hydroqueinon ( for hyperpigmentation) and differin (for physical scar ) for 4 weeks and my skin looks so smooth thanks to you 💜 + we need more hair videos cuz my hair is suffering a lot
Cristian Ibarra when i go to seep, i cleanse my face then i wait for it to dry then i mix them both on my finger (don't put too much) and apply them (don't put it around the eyes) then i wait 20 minutes at least for them to dry then apply my moisturizer (use heavy moisturizer cuz ur skin will dry out, i love using raw shea butter) and if ur going out u should use sunscreen or it won't work or maybe even worsen ur skin
I'm happy if it works for you, but I would be careful with those two - I definitely wouldn't use both at the same time! They are both very strong actives known for causing irritation and/or dryness. Hydraquinone is actually banned where I live and adapalene is only available by prescription. Please be careful not to mess up your skin!
Dr. Dray, do you mind reviewing the Beekman 1802 skincare line? I’ve been getting ads about it all week and I’m rather interested in the products, but I also don’t usually trust brands that market themselves as more natural. Would love to hear your thoughts on them :)
Assalaam Walekum Dr. Dray. Thank you so much for your advice on different skin topics and sharing your wonderful knowledge with your audience, really appreciate it. I love your channel so much that I recommended it to my sister. Your my HERO. Your fan from Afghanistan but I live in California. 🇦🇫🇦🇫🇦🇫
Happy Wednesday Dr Dray and everyone 😀 thank you so much for giving a truthful explanation of scars and what will and will not work. Enjoy your day love to mom and Tybee 🤗🤗💕💖
I've had really bad acne post-inflamatory hyperpigmentation under my jawline and next to my ears and they've been there for about 4 years with no change so far Are there any products you would recommend? Because these dark spots have depressed me for what feels like an eternity
Could you possibly talk about molluscum and how to get rid of them. As always, you are my go-to for great, intelligent and truthful information about skincare. Thank you.
the only topical that are really going to help atrophic scarring are alpha hydroxy acids and tretinoin (thought I'd leave this here in case anyone needs the info ❤️)
Hi what order would you use these snd what strength? I have old indented skin with dark hyperpigmentation on it . Damaged skin which is pitted and the pitted skin is dark as it’s the area where I had a trauma . Can tretinoin and AHA lighten the hyperpigmentation and smooth or fill the pitted skin ? I am Indian with dark skin . Thanks
@@dynamitedynamite2737 I am not a dermatologist. I would say both treatments carry risks and you should speak to a qualified medical professional before applying anything to your skin.
I tried the CVS clear zinc spf 50 in the tub per your rec. I'm Fitz Phototype IV, (Indian skin) and it leaves a cast, BUT the lotion consistency is so nice and the price is so cheap I'm willing to put up with the cast for days when I'm just studying at home. Thanks Dr. Dray!
On desperate times you try everything. I just got a pimple on my neck for the first time ever and it stop hurting but now it looks like a hickey. Not a very professional look, lol
I had that happen to me too. I slapped a pimple patch on it to heal and to just cover up the discoloration a little. Made it look like a cut rather than a hickey.
I'm so excited this is currently my 3rd month of accutane such good results, considering my acne was so bad and there's just post inflammatory hyperpigmentation I'm so thankful half way there!! Also ordered vitiman C cream from the inkeylist
i have hypertrophic scars from severe burns and i gota say, nothing ive EVER used has done anything :/ 11 years, hundreds of products, thousands of dollars, many i used for several years at a time...nothing happened. still have my scars, i learned to love them and who i am and what i survived. so i got zero hope this product will help me but im willing to give it a go....Dr if you see this and have any thoughts on thick hypertrophic scars from full thickness burns and surgeries could you please let me know? (maybe i need to look into needling or laser something more "physical" rather than products/oils/cosmeceuticals etc)
Greetings Dr. Dray hope u r well n 🖐Hello Every1 n Happy Wednesday😀n what a Wonderful Vlog.... thanks 4 giving us the Pros n Cons n Going over the Ingredient List of this Product.... Cause it looks like can B Useful👍n Continued Blessings to All💜....
@@russellacoba8637 sorry to say the scars are still there. Wearing a mask has reactivated my acne right on my cheeks where the mask lays across my face.
This maybe a product i can try due to swinging a engaged pressure washing wand across the back of my left calf few months back. Well that is going to leave a mark! Dr. Dray would this product or Mederma be better for a scar due to injury that darkens the skin? Great video today!
Dr Dray, would using a retinol product together with a light exfoilating cleanser provide adequate support for resurfacing the skin to diminish old acne scars?
Hey dr Dray, I have a question with regards to snail mucin, Is it possibly dangerous due to the growth factors it possesses? Can growth factors in skincare be dangerous ? Thank you❤️
Very informative video, thanks! I'm currently on accutane and have some raised scars. Do you think I can use scar away at the same time or should I wait until I am off accutane?
