Ross Hauser, MD discusses digestion and the vagus nerve as it relates to the sphincter function. In the histories of patients who we see in our center, they often feel like they hit a wall with regard to finding resolution of symptoms or their digestion conditions because the focus has been too narrow. When looking at many digestive symptoms through the aspect of vagus nerve health, many times solutions can be found because the vagus nerve innervates many vital digestive organs. Thus, in our center, we find that patients who have digestive complaints as part of their constellation of symptoms that also point to vagus nerve impairment, that the upper cervical area and cervical curve should be analyzed and examined to see if this could be the cause of the issues.
Associated with this video is an interview with Nurse Tommi, one of our patients who is being treated for gastroparesis, among other symptoms, and responding very well to Prolotherapy. She wanted to share her story of hope to other patients suffering from similar symptoms and clinical scenarios. Check it out: • Gastroparesis: the vag...

As a therapeutic massage therapist that owned my own clinic, i saw this play out several dozen times a month. Neck, back, stomach and hips are all married with the neck being the key to unlocking the rest. Everything improves with massage, heat, ROM stretching deep breathing exercises that actually affect the neck. No wonder people feel better after a good 90 minutes. I massage my husbands neck, arms and shoulders at least a couple times a week. He sits in front of me on a couple pillows and after 15-20 minutes he swears he sleeps much better

I’m 18 years old and started having every symptom you guys have covered in all of your videos at 16 years old. Started with tachycardia and anxiety and depression, along with intestinal inflammation and horrible fatigue and digestive problems. Now I am completely debilitated with over 50 severe symptoms and many diagnoses like thyroid disease and now I always contemplate whether I am going to live to see tomorrow because the pain and discomfort is so bad. My appointment with you guys is April 8th. I’m hoping to make it to the appointment and I’m hoping relief is on my way!

I had this problem. Local doctors in my area performed many many tests x-rays etc told me there was nothing wrong with me. They insisted that I get a colonoscopy. When I refuse they told me they did not want to see me if i wasn't going to take their advice. I was in such bad shape I thought my life was over. Luckily by chance I finally made the connection that all of my problems were neurological. Damn I wish I could find a doctor like you in my area.

These videos are spot on for all my symptoms. 1. Resting heart rate of over 90bpm. 2. Inability to burp most days. When I twist my back to the left, I kind of burp. But food sits in chest for hours. 3. High blood pressure. Between 130/90 to 150/110. 4. Bouts of dizziness. 5. Debilitating back pain and neck pain. 6. Pain that radiate to my chest. 7. Pain that shoots down my left arm. 8. Started having panic attacks. 9. Intermittent loss of strength in my left leg. 10. Bloating 11. Difficulty breathing I have been to the emergency room 3 times in the past 6 months thinking I'm having a heart attack. Had an ECG and bloods done and was reassured my heart is fine. But HR and BP is high all the time. I exercise. And eat a healthy low carb / low sugar diet. I'm in South Africa. I don't know if this treatment is available here. But I've been watching your videos and all the symptoms are spot on.

It feels as if I'm in constant fight-or-flight mode even when doing all I can to relax. I've had neck problems since I was a teenager due to a bad fall and bad posture (I'm in my 30s now). Hi White Witch, Thank you for your very kind feedback. Happy the videos have been helpful in any way. Good question. We treat patients of all ages: kids through seniors. In general, children often respond quicker to fewer treatments, which would be expected, compared to someone who has advanced structural degeneration issues for 40+ years with a lot of neurological symptoms and needs a more comprehensive treatment approach. Everything is based on the individual case and diagnostic findings as far as what treatment approach is recommended. Wish you all the best in healing!

I think my vagus nerve was nicked when I had my gallbladder removed the laparoscopic way. That doesn't have to do with my neck at all though.... I have suspected SOD &/or severe silent reflux. I have a diagnosed hiatal hernia. Never had any of these issues before the gallbladder removal. The hernia though was found via endoscopy before the gallbladder surgery. I also have C-PTSD and Asperger's syndrome. Almost wrote asparagus syndrome LOL anyway it's crazy how this vagus nerve is involved in all of the things I mentioned. But I don't have neck issues.

I am allergic to everything and had symptoms of ibs, chronic constipation, chronic dehydration, gastroparesis, diverticulosis, acidreflux/gerd, asthma, gastritis and ulcerative colitis. Carnivore diet has changed my life. Dehydration is the only thing im dealing with right now but all of the other symptoms are gone. I am only dehydrated because i am also allergic to salts. That triggers the gastroparesis and on this diet salt intake is very important. Ive been using electrolyte supplements and they help me feel at peace for once in my life..

I have severe attack of pain in middle of chest where my scar is from the surgery. My pain relief is Co codamol. And oramorph when my pain is severe. But when I take that pain relief makes me have these severe attacks that last about 20 to 30 minutes . Pain in chest. Shoulder. Sore throat mouth goes dry. and then sounds like ive got a cold. And feels like can't breath. All in 20 to 30 minutes. So I googled to see if anyone else had problems. And came across your videos. Also my liver levels are coming back really high. I am type 2 diabetic. Have been for 27 years. When I was put on insulin I suddenly became constipated and have been since. My doctor says it is not diabetic paresis but I think it is! I have had neck problems since I got whiplash 30 years ago. Can you tell me if the vagus nerve can cause shoulder pain in the right shoulder? I have been trying to research the vagus nerve for a long time. I think it could be a reason for a lot of my problems.

I struggle with gallbladder pain and have had several tests saying nothing wrong with it. I also have trouble with digestion and severe constipation. Sometimes I eat and it just doesn't digest. I do have hashimoto's and celiacs. I follow a strick diet but it still doesn't help. I have had neck issues and back problems. My diet did help the inflammation. I still have horrible motility. I get so bad I do enemas to have a BM. I take magnesium powder and laxative which doesn't help. I have had a upper and lower colonoscopy and did all their bowel prep and still didn't get clear. They didn't see anything but a hiatal hernia. I am 57 years old and the problem is getting worse. I have heard about the vagus nerve. I tried Wim Hof breathing and cold plunging. I do meditation, yoga and QiGong. I struggle with ear ringing, right sided pain under my ribs and my abdomen. Everything gets stuck in my small intestine and doesn't move to the large or want to move from the lleocecal valve. My abdomen get hard like a rock. I have ptsd, anxiety and depression. I am trying brain retraining. I am desperate. I don't have great insurance.

I do have degeneration in my neck in told. I have all these symptoms. My illocecal valve I press on after I eat. It gets a big ball after it releases the food Digest. I tell gastro Dr's in different clinics and they think I'm crazy. Now I have confirmation these exist but Dr's in NM must not be taught these things. 😢

I have gastroparesis and the dr.s out here literally said there is nothing they can do for me and to do a liquid only diet to prevent hospitalization. Im in immense pain constantly! Eating is awful but I'm constantly starving and nauseous. I'd love more video's on this.

My Dr has had me on Domperidone for 15 plus years. You must order it out of Canada. I cannot use the prescription med approved by FDA for this condition. Works quite well. Very inexpensive.

I have throat reflux. I never had a neck injury or the clicking and pain that you describe. But I have residue in my mouth after I swallow and my esophagus has weak swallows per a manometry test. My gastroparesis test was A-OK. I just know that there is something I can do to improve my neural function. I'm 64.

I wonder.. I had a car accident 20 years ago. After it I had pain swallowing, I couldn't even eat a bit of soft sponge cake, it hurt on the way down mid esophagus.. since then to this day I have pain with certain foods, thick yoghurt, a big mouthful of water, feels like a ball going down, bread gets stuck, mashed potato, but other things ok... I wonder if this is related... also developed Dercums disease, could that be related too? Thank you.

Dr Hauser I am not able to get to Florida for a Prolotherapy consultation is it possible for you to offer any recommendations for a physicians group, or referral to a Doctor based in East or West Texas in either the Dallas - Fort Worth Texas, or San Antonio Texas areas. I pray to God that I can finally get diagnosed and treated for the extremely embarrassing episodes that I have that to date No One I’ve Seen Has Been Able To Treat. I’m 58 and have a multilevel spine disease and do have cervical instability based off my Ct Scan in 2020 in addition since multiple spine fusions/laminectomies I have bowel and bladder incontanance yet these doctors offer the common diagnosis IBD ,IBS and gerd with diverticulosis etc., however overall I’ve had no help to treat any of the other incapacitating symptoms I have at any giving moment. All the doctors I’ve seen want to do is offer epidural injections or surgery. PLEASE I PRAY SOMEONE CAN OFFER SOME HELP.

Two questions - do you have a MD you can recommend in the UK? I am sure I have had legal issues for a few years now. And you say sugar is bad for the vegas nerve - is honey different? We were always taught to eat the honey of the area to make us immune. Thanks for all you give.

Hi Joan, Yes, and thank you for sharing that. There are a variety of ways to improve vagal tone and some nice channels and articles online that delve more into those things. We touched on it a bit more in our vagus nerve webinar series, but mostly our specialty on this channel is related to structural causes of vagus nerve impairment. Again, appreciate you sharing that. Wish you all the best in health!

Thank you, you just confirmed and reminded me of a few things. I developed leaky gut and possibly SIBO (Not diagnosed).. long story, but I'm doing very well after using herbs and diet. GP's dont help, yes look for alternative professional. Stimulate vagus nerve. Gut microbiome.. Heal and restore Stool implants are becoming a popular natural way for dealing with colitis etc in dogs. Its something pet parents can consider when treating their dog holistically AS A WHOLE. Conventional vets use meds, this is a great alternative..

It seems that all of my issues have stemmed from a very tense jaw(on right side). I wasn’t properly sensing my canines or molars on my left side for years and years, and this caused lots of imbalances and compensations throughout my body. One symptom being a crooked neck, of course. And a malfunctioning vagus nerve it would seem. (Leading to digestive problems and lots of other fun stuff). PRI seems to be helping a lot. Thank you for speaking on this!
