Omg, I remember that as a teenager I was in love with that guy with the red shirt. Per was his name. When you look at recent performances, you see that Richard, his younger brother on the right, has taken over the lead singer position.
Oh good times, back when Eurovision entries came in all sorts and shapes and anyone could win, even when singing in their own language about golden shoes XD Love you, Sweden!
@@ericboom1712 Then how did ireland end up with 3 wins in a row and then UK with the most 2nd places in eurovision history? And after that another country won with an english song in 1999
I told a lame lie to my boss about a family crisis so I could leave work early in order to see these cuties at Tivoli, Copenhagen right after they won. Worth it!
@Fröken Sverige but then again, look at when Ireland and the UK did good and look at when the language rule existed. Also, nowadays, when countries that isn't France sing in their own language, it feels more special.
@@eggsage7679 This is after they had won. The first performance was in Swedish only. Charlotte Perelli/Nilsson did the same thing after she had won in 1999.
Many people mock this song, the choreography..Mid 80's , the best era , lucky growing up then. This song is still performed today by the Herreys in various music events. I dont think we see many Eurovision winners to still perform today. This is the song many hate to love! Thank you Herreys for that magical night in Luxembourg
Lightning and thunder, magic and wonder I don't know how, but it did happen to me (You felt your heart was set free) What a sensation (You're flying up high now) Sweet inspiration (You're going to the sky now) Couldn't believe I was dreamin' Couldn't believe it was true Diggi-loo diggi-ley, life is goin' my way When I'm walkin' in my golden shoes Everything I ever dreamed of has suddenly come true Diggi-loo diggi-ley, let this miracle stay I could be whatever I would choose Please don't wake me up I'm dreamin' of me in golden shoes Golden reflections givin' directions Bringin' the best that I have right out of me (How in the world could this be?) Knowing' your senses (What burning desire) Climbin' the fences (It's taking you up higher) Now I believe I can make it Oh... what a wonderful world Diggi-loo diggi-ley, life is goin' my way When I'm walkin' in my golden shoes Everything I ever dreamed of has suddenly come true Diggi-loo diggi-ley, let this miracle stay I could be whatever I would choose Please don't wake me up I'm dreamin' of me in golden shoes I know my dream was a fantasy illusion But when I woke up, I came to the conclusion I can be what I want to Oh, oh Diggi-loo diggi-ley, let this miracle stay I could be whatever I would choose Please don't wake me up I'm dreamin' of me in golden shoes Please don't wake me up I'm dreamin' of me in golden shoes Thanks boys! ❤️❤️❤️
In 1984 I saw them during those years I realised how beatiful and special is that song.. Defintely this amazing song had strong vibes and fills your heart with happiness and joy.. No 1 and 3 beautiful guys who sang together so micely, in such a sweet harmony. So many years left behind and in 2021, I've found myself listenning to them and watch that lovely song so many times today. I'll remember that picture of the three of them forever.💫💫💫
That is good for them, but they did not become WORLDWIDE consistent hit makers like "ABBA" (or Ace of Base, Aha, or Siw Malmkvist.) They were pleasant, though. I am pretty sure this was their only worldwide "hit".
@@shmuli9they had a few hits were popular east europe but louis left to be mormon missionary even tho they were offered record contract his missionary work came first.he does this today and per is lawyer in the musicians union. They were more than just this song. I like you that per wrote in 82
Neer heard of this before but now I have, it's stuck in my head. Great song! And well done to them singing in English. I know a lot of groups did that ((Nicole, for sure ... I loved hers too - sorry!).but it's not easy if it's not your first language. I have scandinavian family - it's impressive. I have tried to learn Swedish and Norwegian ... it's defeated me. We expect others to speak our language but we can't speak theirs! Now I know i have to listen to this song again - I love this video so I must save the link somehow.
@bibiJ63 The guy in the middle is not nervous, he's happy. This is just after they have won ESC:), so when his voice trembled as he was close to tears. Thought it was important to tell you. ^ ^
Yes Skumberg74, the second verse onwards is in English. This is the REPRISE, after Sweden had won. During their performance (first in the line-up), they had to sing entirely in their native language (in this case Swedish), just like all the other countries. However when the winner performed again at the end, evidently that language restriction didn't apply. I remember this reprise being in a mixture of Swedish and English at the end.
How can anyone dislike this video? "Hmm, I will do a search for the Swedish entry for the 1984 eurovision song contest, when they won. Diggiloo diggiley... Nope, not good. Dislike." Haters...
It was the winning performance.his voice trembled as he is trying to hold back tears from winning. The harmonizing is amazing. I love this song its so happy
I was playing goat simulator 3 and collected a trophy and got a new fur and this link was in the description, honestly i was either expecting a rickroll or the goat simulator 3 trailer. I'm very pleased to now understand the lyrics in the description
it IS in english from the second verse. back then it was not allowed to sing in any language other than that of your own country, but they got away with it here because they had already won. another point is that the lyrics were first written in english, then translated into swedish. the brothers were famous in UK before sweden.
I'm assuming this is the reprise performance as in 1984 the contest performance would have had to be sung entirely in Swedish as the 'native language' rule was in place.
They got their show&dance training in Los Angeles. The whole family moved there 1981. The father Willy Herrey is not swedish, and he travelled a lot with the boys when they were small. So it is correct that they were unknown in Sweden before the won the ESC contest in 1984. It's not unusual that people move around the world to live, study and travel. So I don't think you should feel bad! :-)
They are all swedish born in sweden live in sweden. They visited usa for a few years due to their mormon faith and they did training and auditions there. Richard was in fame
