You never can go wrong with The Meters! What a funk band. We need a t-shirt with "Life, Love and Faith" :) Always nice to see you dropping by, Lis. All the best. /Paul
Hi Paul.. that Black Caeser is a long time favourite..even though it’s a bit patchy.. favourite track is Blind Man Can See It. There’s a longer version on In A Jungle Groove.. Steve Gadd on drums laying it down!
Hi Ed! I was really surprised by Black Caesar. Maybe it's a bit patchy, but that gives it a certain charm. It feels like it moves between the sound of the sixties and seventies. Mixing it with some blaxploitation :) Very entertaining. Have a great weekend. Cheers. /Paul
Hi Greg! Thanks for the sub :) Hope you will be enjoying the videos. I always try to needle drop every album I show on my trusty little portable turntable. All the best. Cheers. /Paul
Hi Paul. All killer, no filler! I have the Allen Toussaint album and the Black Caesar soundtrack. Both excellent records. JB also did the soundtrack to Slaughter’s Big Rip-Off, which is more of the same. But, as we both know, JB’s greatest cinematic moment was performing “Living In America” in Rocky IV 😉. Never heard the Brazilian tune before. Gonna check that out 👍👍
Hey John! Living In America was the very first 12inch I ever bought. Crazy money for just one song. But what a song, and that cover was just killer :) When recording I knew I was missing something, this couldn't be the only one. Well maybe it is his best one ;) That Brailian groove is so infectious. Can't wait for summer. Have great Sunday. Cheers. /Paul
Hey Steve. I was very happy to come across this clean copy :) For sure there are a lot of beaten up copies going around. Sometimes that's the only one available, but when a little patient, most times something nice comes along. Sometimes you have to be very patient ;) Cheers. /Paul
Hey Dave! Was lucky to find a clean copy. There are a few other Poly Rythmo records I'm after, but it seems to get harder and harder to find nice copies. Cheers. /Paul
Hi Paul! Good to see you back getting 2024 off to a funky start. Missing Black Caesar but I do have Rejuvenation, the funk of course is a given with the Meters but I was struck with the other aspects as well, the songwriting, arrangements and musicianship. Just the total package. Never seen that Brazilian one before, such a nice groove. All the best, take care!
Hi Doug! Hoping 2024 will be a funk filled year for you and me :) I don't often see Black Caesar and had to settle for the German pressing. I like the mix and variation of the tracks on the album. The Meters for sure had some class. Their professionalism probably helped to have so much success. Although I think Alan Toussaint also had a big influence. Cheers. /Paul
Hey Lis. Defrosted yet? ;) I got some hot funk grooves for you :) The cold period over here wasn't long enough to grow enough no ice skating on natural ice unfortunately. Cheers. /Paul
@@XjunkieNL ooooo I truly was hoping you had the chance outside 😑... winter can bring fun like outdoor activities...(did I really say that???) hehehe take care Paul!!🙏🏻✨
