He is now in Heaven with all of the deceased Japanese Actors and Actresses, one of them is Miyuki Kanbe. Koji-kun may no longer be on Earth, but his songs are in deepest memory, all thanks to Digimon
He passed away two days after singing this version for digimon tri, is like was his last wish. He was feeling really bad but gathered all his last energy to do it. 😥
High key, I love this rendition. It's got this feeling of nostalgia and comfort, the perfect way to open Tri: it was called Reunion not just because the chosen children were reunited with their partners, but because WE were reunited with them. This rendition feels like we're being greeted as an old friend.
I say this 5 years after this song was made. I've grown up with Digimon since the beginning. Yeah, I wasn't born when it began, but I've watched every episode and every movie ever made since it's beginning. Did it have it's ups and downs? Yes, yes it did. Did it fall flat in some parts where it shouldn't have? Yes, yes it did! But you know what? I don't care! Why? Because this series has been with me since the beginning! I've seen it from start to finish in the 17-18 years I've been alive! Even as I grow older and move on towards the future, I still come back to this series. Why? Because it's been there since the beginning! Will I still watch this series in the future, even as I grow old? YES! WHY?! BECAUSE IT'S BEEN WITH ME SINCE THE BEGINNING! I SAY THIS NOT AS THE KID WHO GREW UP WITH IT, NOR AS THE ADULT WHO'S MOVING PAST HIS CHILDHOOD. I SAY THIS AS THE SPIRIT WHO FELL IN LOVE WITH THE SHOW THAT'S BEEN THERE SINCE THE BEGINNING! THIS IS MY BEGINNING, AND THUS, MY JOURNEY AS THE ALOOF SPIRIT WHO WISHES TO SEE MORE AND MORE, AGAIN AND AGAIN. *UNTIL MY SPIRIT GOES, I WILL JOURNEY ON WITH THESE CHOSEN CHILDREN!*
For those who grew up watching the series For those who will soon come to know it And for those who passed away with their hearts in this beautiful digimon dreamscape You are all Chosen Children of the Digital World
English versions regularly mess it up, Koji expresses it up perfectly. Everything is falling apart, and I'm getting weak, but my love is still strong enough to lift us up with my broken wings. Rest in peace, you beautiful immortal butterfly anisong angel. The world is much more beautiful thanks to your contributions.
There's something about this song that inevitably makes me tear up despite how happy and upbeat it seems. ❤️ Digimon will always have a special place in my heart.
Being a gen z kid, I definitely can't relate to this as much as some of the older viewers, but I did grow up with Digimon. I remember finding it while trying to find Pokemon ( oof ik ) on Netflix. I ended up stumbling upon the first season of Digimon and was hooked. At the time, I didn't know who Koji Wada was but had definitely heard his music somewhere. When I found this song and found out about Koji Wada's death, I found myself surprisingly emotional, even shedding a few tears, remembering binge-watching episodes, and rewatching seasons multiple times. Koji has been, (and still is) a big part of my childhood. I wish the best upon Koji's legacy and hope it lives on for many years to come.
sigh another great singer from my childhood gone. How many more can i lose before i lose them all. RIP Kouji Wada. You will forever be in our hearts as long as their is digimon their will always be Kouji Wada.
I may have grown up with and loved the English Dub/OST, But I will always appreciate the effort and quality of the original OST/Dub. Rest in peace Kouji, I only hope your passing was peaceful.
Same, I may have grown up only knowing the English dub & OST, but as soon as I watched the series with the original soundtrack, I couldn't got back :D Kouji's loss was a great one indeed, a fantastic creator of amazing tracks... very much missed indeed :'(
Koji Wada... You may be gone, but you will never be forgotten. You've inspired many of us, and your music and legacy will live through us and Digimon. Rest in peace, my friend. "A man is never truly dead until he is forgotten." A quote from the story of King Arthur, I believe. As long as we remember him and his music, he will live on.
No kidding. When this music played & we saw WarGreymon & MetalGarurumon reappear against MetalSeadramon, I was in tears... so much good nostalgia there ;')
This song had his soul and full passion in it, everytime I listen to it, I can feel the difference in the amount of heart he put into this. I appreciate this song, no matter how long it may be. Thank you Kouji Wada for your great music you’ve given us through the years.
He existed to give us all these masterpiece! You're amazing Wada Kouji! Rest well,No one would be able to replace you in your throne,in j-rock and in our hearts.
@@teemukoskinen2647 I'm 99% sure that he's dead. I'm just being honest. He's a great guy but if we don't know him why should we cry when he dies? We can mourn this person but shedding tears for them is pointless. Let it die, like they themselves did and let them rest in peace.
i had a huge digimon/vpet phase in 8th grade and listened to this song religiously. i’m now in my senior year and recently got my hands on cyber sleuth complete edition. needless to say, i’m having the time of my life

Still hearing this song today. Everytime this song is played I have goosebumps, tears run down, and feels happy and sad at the same time. This song is legendary.
Digimon anime is the greatest anime series of all time. Dislike if you disagree. I don't care. I just think it's so amazing how much work Japanese people put into stuff. This is my favourite song ever. It's so inspirational for me to become a anime writer when I'm older. Even though I'm not Japanese, that doesn't matter. Love for kouji wada.. he will always be inside my heart. And nothing can stop that. Keep dreaming people. Do what you want in life. thank you for reading this. There is no reason to like, but if u want to I'm fine with that. Goodbye people. Have a nice life.
This actually makes me feel more nostalgia than the original version. And it’s so awesome that they used Butterfly in the scene where Gatomon finally evolves into Magnadramon. I cried so much during that scene.
This song is the epitome of nostalgia Every time i listen to this song i get a dose of dopamine thinking of the time i watched digimon on my television while growing up Thank you so much wada kouji for this beautiful rendition of this perfect song where you poured your heart into making Rest in peace You will never be forgotten by us
Such an inspiring and uplifting song! It makes me and maybe the other 90' children feel confident, that we can do a lot of things! Thank you, Kouji Wada. Your memory lives on
Itzayana Urrutia I think a lot of us did I even remember making my own Digimon which was a feathered baby dragon that evolved into a bigger feathered dragon named feathermon ( not the most creative I know, but I was a kid ) and I imagined going to the digital world with my Digimon
Every 90's kid will remember the time Digimon Adventure aired on ABS-CBN to compete against Pokemon on GMA Network, Felicity on RPN-9, and the PBA on Viva Television on IBC-13. The Digimon Adventure masterpiece Butterfly by the late Koji Wada was the inspiration for the next generation of Digi-Destined who will always await their next Digimon. I'm hoping GMA Network will acquire the broadcast rights to the Digimon Anime Series, as Digimon Tamers, Digimon Frontier, Digimon Savers, and Digimon Xros Wars will add the Adventure word on all of the GMA Broadcasts. It would be called Digimon Adventure Tamers, Digimon Adventure Frontier, Digimon Adventure Savers, and Digimon Adventure Fusion Xros Wars. But first, GMA Network and Telesuccess Productions must have negotiations
I am listening to this song after so so many years and just got to know the singer died... he left such a beautiful song that hasn't gotten old in 20 years. I'm crying. May he rest in peace.
Oddly enough even though I didn't grow up with this song attached to my Digimon (cause dub), this is the song that gives me nostalgia for the franchise and not the American opening which we also had in the Netherlands.
It's funny how this is different for every country. In germany we had a translated version of this song. So i feel almost as attached to the original, as to the german version (with pretty cringy lyrics) :D
Alex L. Same thing over here in Latin America. Tough I gotta admit the people who translated it to spanish did a good job cause the dub wasn't really cringy (hell the whole series pretty much kept everything as it was in japan only censoring some minor stuff).
For me we had the original japan opening but the story were dubbed in english. I remember this because i remember singing to the opening with my friends but we realised it wasnt in english so we just made similar noise (except the 'oh my love' 😄)
This is not the real deal. Maybe from the Digimon serie but the real song doesnt sound like this... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MB0BcssaBHQ.html
never bored everytime hear this. always throwback my memories :". remember in the past. eat some breakfast, watching this in living room. on sunday morning
the thing about digimon tri is, you arent going to have the same experince as someone who grew up watching digimon adventure 01... for us, it's like meeting an old friend that we miss dearly..
For real... I was around 10-12 when I watched digimon and the second generation. After that I never watched any other season neither those two first season again... When Tri came out I was 23-24 after all those years when I first heard butterfly and saw my boy Tai all grown up, nostalgia and goosebumps hit me hard. I also had this feeling you explained. I love this show in a different way, it’s not just another anime it has roots deep in our childhood for the fans who were born in early 90s.
the first 10 seconds feel like he is out for a walk and remembers the old times and sings or hums along with the old music that defined his childhood...god damn it this one is sooo nostalgic!!
Some of you might laugh at me but I just got to watch Digimon Tri...and I love this song. I never heard it before until now and I gotta say that end part gives me LIFE. What a beautiful song. I grew up with the English digimon and loved the first three seasons.
You were diying from inside while singing this Koji, and yet you just did what your songs said about not giving up. Digimon adventure is once again in the map and I'm glad you were in its new beggining
Thanks for Kouji Wada for coming back to sing this magnificent song eventhough the effort of doing it is what ended up killing him, but there was no way that other guy could come and sing it, sorry it had to be him. RIP
kouji wada, i always remember you for this epic and awesome song. its a Gifth for all your fans, a fabulous Digital World 's Door that live in all inner spirit's child 😊😊😊😀😀. Kouji wada always live in our hearth .
this song (and I mean this version in particular) is what plays in my head when I see a clear blue sky with a few carefree clouds. It purifies my heart every time I hear it, and makes me see my life with the untainted clarity of hope Coming from a show that was made to sell playing cards, toys and other various merchandise is pretty incredible.
