Today I cover one of the lost Nintendo DS Digimon Games that was never localized.

now there's only one major game that needs a fan translation. Digimon Story Super xros wars, the first game Kazumasa Habu produced, the man who later produced Digimon world re:digitize and Decode, Adventure psp, cyber sleuth and hacker's memory and Digimon Survive. Story Super xros wars is the game that made him realize (said by him in interviews) that digimon games despite having kids as the target demographic the ones buying the xros wars game were young adults and university students, the sales of that game among young adults was the reason he completely changed his approach with the next game (Re:Digitize), giving the title a style never seen before in digimon aiming to appeal to an older demographic, and it worked, with cyber sleuth being the deinitive turning point due to its success compared to games pre Habu, which in my opinion saved the games. Digimon Story Lost Evolution (the first game habu worked on but only as an assistant) and Story Super Xros Wars are the last games with the previous approach of having young kids as the target demographic. It's crazy how different the games are now compared to back then in that sense. Digimon world re:Digitize Decode for the 3DS (which is an improved version of Re:Digitize, making the first one not really worth checking compared to decode that has a lot of improvements and an expasion to the base Re:Digitize story in it) has a fan translation since 2020 I think, by the same group who fan translated the Lost Evolution game and the Rom patched is quite easy to find, just in case you want to chech it out in the future, that game barely has any reviews.

funnily enough I actually played decode back in september after I had finished Lost Evolution. I hacked my 3ds so it seemed like the perfect time. It was a solid game and palate cleanser after having a rough time with lost evo. However I didnt get any footage so when I get to that game ill have to play it again. As much as i kind of dogged on xros in this video (I dont hate it as much as I feel like the concept was a desperate misdirect for the series) id love to try a translated super xros wars one day. thanks for the history and background here it actually confirms alot of the thoughts I put into the video. where it was clear digimon was fighting a losing battle for the kids demographic instead of the teenage/young adult demographic its comfied itself into now.

You know I was expecting the game to be a kinda lame asset reuse of the other story games of the time but from what you described it seems to be its own thing. Big agree on the villain though, they sound very interesting and I wouldn't be upset to see the idea reused again in a future Story game

Personally im a fan of asset reuse so I never minded that. And yeah for better and worse its doing its own unique thing. The game has so many ideas that are good in theory but poor in execution that if a later game poached ideas itd be fine. Thank you for the view and comment Sue Enjoyer.

Personally, I still vastly prefer this game over dawn and dusk. Yes, the second half was a massive pain in the ass, but at least the first half was a fairly smooth experience. Dawn and Dusk is a tedious from beginning to end. Even navigating the hub world is super annoying and confusing. In this I didn't have such problem. I also like how there's an actual incentive to explore, as you can find secret boss fights that way. I also kinda get addicted to grinding while listening to Oneyplays so... I just have a high tolerance for that stuff. Though Digimon world DS remains the best game in the story series pre-cyber sleuth

I can get that, I really like the setting and feel of Dawn/Dusk so the hub never bothered me but it is very large for a hub while this game keeps it very simple and streamlined. But yeah it is nice how this game does give players incentives to explore and actual side areas you can either get directed to via sidequests or simply explore and find on your own. And the plate system does make that somewhat rewarding as you simply get more team options. Im kinda hoping the next story game in the digital world allows for more exploration too. thanks for the compliment dude! theres no direct place to get it however if you hypothetically look up Digimon Lost Evolution English rom/translation you theoretically could find it pretty easily.

Literally my critique of this game is the bug plate system being annoying on emulator and that isn’t the games fault, so imo 8 of 10 good game

@@BobbyHopp yeah, and for sidequesting you never mentioned why it was a problem: main quests didn’t give tamer points like in dawn/dusk, so it was harder to reach an honestly reasonable goal for previous games

Hey, great video, but the sound is a bit funny, especially the clips from the game. There might be something wrong with the levels.

thanks for the feedback and comment, yeah I only realized last night when I was doing finishing touches and other things that when I was recording the game on obs I had the game sound bar set super low on accident so all the clips were just low. nothing I could have really done to fix it. Ill try to make sure the sound is better next time.
