The safer and more consistent method to defeat Demi-Fiend, now with some speediness.

Using Curse status on Heat & Gale to prevent Javelin Rain's Mute effect, unlike in DDS2 Curse does not lower the character's resistance towards Mudo attacks.

0:17 ~ Girimekhala & Cu Chulainn
Open with Black Sun, to preserve the status effect on everyone until it is time to take out both Girimekhala and Cu Chulainn. Charge up on Heat and Gale. Wait until a turn where Demi-Fiend's turn cycle ends with Cu Chulainn's Taunt. This ensures Ragnarok is buffed from Taunt's +2 Physical attack buff.

2:55 ~ First and only Gaea Rage
Using Close Call to avoid Gaea Rage, just make sure if any party member falls asleep, wake them up so Close Call works as intended.

3:19 ~ Arahabaki & Pixie
At this stage, the goal is to waste Pixie's MP pool, so she can no longer cast Dekaja/Dekunda. While getting Pixie to waste her MP, some damage can still be accumulated as long as Demi-Fiend is not pushed below 50% HP(less than or equal to 9,000), in order to avoid Mediarahan. Start accumulate some Dekaja/Dekunda usage on Pixie as well before Pixie runs out of MP for Megidolaon, to minimize the risk of triggering Recamdra during Debilitate setup. Salvation the ailments away once Pixie can no longer use Megidolaon. Sukukaja is used mainly to keep Arahabaki from using his dangerous moves.

18:32 ~ Pixie is completely out of MP
Pixie without sufficient MP to use Dekunda/Dekaja, fully Debilitate Demi-Fiend, and the Demi-Fiend becomes a sitting duck. Switch over to Makakaja, this will boost the power of Mind Charge + Teradyne + Earth Boost&Amp even further for ~2100 damage per cast. Makakaja can still distract Arahabaki, despite Pixie's futile attempt to get rid of Makakaja.

Is there any concrete info on how physical damage scales compared to how magic damage scales in either DDS? The info on the wiki lists significantly higher power values for most damaging magic than it does for even top-tier Physical skills...

Unfortunately, based on all of the research I have done thus far, there isn't any explanation given how the Power value is used in the damage calculation. I can only speculate that Physical damage and Magic damage use two different formulas. For reference, the Magic Combo Black Sun has a base power of 666 deals ~1200 damage on Demi-Fiend, while Demi-Fiend's Almighty Physical Gaea Rage has a base power of 1500, but deals over 7000 damage to the party.

That depends if DDS uses the same damage calcs as Nocturne. In Nocturne, physical damage scales with Strength and Level. Magic damage scales up with Magic (stat) and goes up with level... Until you hit level 27, then magic damage goes slightly DOWN with level. Pumping more points into magic will still come out ahead, but it definitely hurts magic builds

Slightly surprised. Most people who talk about this game usually mention "aww I love the attention to detail, Demi-fiend isn't immune to Earth because it didn't exist in Nocturne"

Everybody knows this since 2005, Gun and Earth didn't exist in Nocturne Is an "easter egg" Also the pixie having 1700 MP so she runs out of mana to is made on purporse, SMT ultrabosses are "puzzle" bosses

@@theshape3872 Pixie running out of MP is not intentional because the entire team is immune to Energy Drain

@@theshape3872 "Everybody" is an exaggeration because SMT/DDS was definitely the nichest of the niche game compared to before and now, where Persona definitely helped pave the way for people to discover SMT eventually. No need to be snarky just to make yourself special for witnessing that discovery live lmao Also most videos on RU-vid doing Demi-fiend runs never opt in using Gun or Earth, so people are bound to be surprised when it happens. They mostly use Last Word or the other Almighty skills.

Find an enemy that Repel Mudo attacks then use Curse skills on them, keep targetting that enemy until the desired character is inflicted with the Curse status.

That can also work, but Curse skills have a low chance of working compare to the other ailments, so it is just easier to spam the move yourself repelled back, instead of hoping the enemy select Curse skills and use it on the player.
