Had a freestyle Shark velcro in the late 80s living in San Diego! It died on deployment to the Persian Gulf but have two new ones on the way from their website! Cheers!
after being so impressed with the golden griffy, so glad I didn't spend hundreds on a novelty watch, I got the rubik and cant be happier! scratched my retro itches for 70 bucks total!
Love the fact you busted out this review. Had a couple of Shark watches in high school along with a couple of Swatches. Those are long gone now but I've since picked up another Swatch. May have to dial in a Shark watch as well.
I love the funky cool and the legibility of the shark watches. It's the first time that I've seen those cool looking watches. Thanks Pete for featuring those watches.
I live in the UK and have only just come across the Armitron brand after seeing a review on the Armitron Rubik watch by a couple of UK reviewers commented on the watch. I found out Armitron is an American brand which is based in the USA in New York so is unknown in the UK as it isn't sold over except on Amazon Global Store. I was going to order one but came across an Armitron analogue digital watch similar to a Casio version that I previously owned. I ordered it and look forward to receiving it tomorrow. It has cost me just over £40 and that includes import taxes. It is water resistant to 50M and has a steel case and strap with a 20mm lug width. For the price I paid it is much cheaper than the Casio and better specifications as it also has a mineral crystal unlike the Casio. Illumination of the digital display is bright and very sharp. The watch is also manufactured in the USA and not in China which is another plus for me. I am sure that I will enjoy wearing it. Thanks for your review.
I've recently got into the hard stuff, Nike Oregon digital square metal, Nike Torque full metal, Black Dice Industries Heist full metal, all the good stuff (digital) is from 10 - 15 yrs ago, can still be a bit pricey though, finding the bargains is part of the fun.
The most comfortable watches I own, are actually a Casio F-91W and a ~1982 Pulsar vintage digital "Running Man" watch. When wearing automatics, larger quartz chronos etc in periods, I always enjoy putting on a small digital watch once in a while. There is a certain charm about these, despite their crappy lume function and often horrible hair nipping braclets. But still..
Ever consider strapping a couple watches to the Base of the Guitar Necks? One in a Pinch could always when playing the blues. Take off there watch and use the Crystal or Case back as a Slade.
Is the Rubik's and Rogue's crystals really mineral glass ? Armitron's website shows them both as acrylic resin. Normally if it is glass the bevel on the crystal is normally opaque white, but photos shows it as clear which leads me to believe it is indeed acrylic.
Hello my friend, how are you? I would like to know some information about the size of this model. I have a freestyle shark like the orange one in the video, but the module is leaking. Do you know if there is a watch model that will fit? I believe the GShock dw5600 module could fit, but I don't have the same one to test... If you can help me I will be very grateful, because I am from Brazil and here we do not have access to these super cool models🙏🇧🇷
There's one on Amazon with a different faceplate called 40/8474BKSV. Looks very similar. I think steel case too, but cheaper. Odd thing is with the "Rubik" on Armitron's site, the blue model shown here says 33 feet (10 meters) for water resistance, while the gold one says 100 feet and the black one says 165 feet. I'd think they'd be the same. I wish Casio would make some of their retro watches (A158, A700) in stainless steel options.
LOL, love the idea for this video. Unfortunately I cannot wear a battery operated watch. They do not keep time on my wrist. I have a electric charge (lots of static) that messes with them. So, I have to wear auto or a manual wind watch. I have always loved the look of a digital, but, I can mess them up. I like AliExpress for the cheap automatics. Just scored a Heimdallr SKX007 homage for $125 canadian, (under 100 US)
