this being on the same CD as Daddy DJ is crazy. on one side you have one of the most influential eurodance songs, and on the other a lost song that has fallen into obscurity
I think Digital Girl may of been on those eurodance/eurobeat song collection CDs, and if it is on one of them, it definitely is going to be under a different name. It also feels like you would hear this in a knockoff toy, just feels like that to me lol
True since I had a few knock off toys which played a sped up and high pitched version of that “ai ai ai im your little butterfly” song… It’s sad that Digital Girl is lost cuz is sounds so catchyyyy
what's crazy is if this is a myspace song, it could be lost forever. one of the people on the team make a crucial mistake in the late 2010s of deleting a bunch of music files. if this was one of them and it wasn't saved, we will never hear it again.

03/29/2024 update: haditonvinyl said that one of the songs in the 2012 song submission list is called “lost in the code” and it might be a demo. Redditors are hoping that this might be the “Digital Girl” song.
I hate finding these lost songs because they always sound so good and theres a huge chance they might not be found 😭 I get stuck with checking on updates frequently since I wanna listen to them
I honestly prefer this snippet to the real full song, the real snippet feels like it is missing an instrument, it feels less “2000s digital-y” and is a bit too fast-paced then I think it should be, meanwhile the snippet feels more complete and the slower instruments and stuff make it a better eurodance song to me. Hopefully some mastermind in the lostwave community decides to make their own full version of this song with the snippet style.
It was (back then) and still is, surprisingly. Music producers tend to send some of their tracks to DJs in ID status, which are still unreleased or works-in-progress. DJs then include them in their mixes and label those as "ID - ID" in the tracklist (either the track name or the artist can be revealed first).
Meanwhile in an alternative universe this digital girl song is a song every weird kids from the early 2000s who grew up with anime , sonic , fnaf , mlp , and creepypasta grew up with , and everytime we touch by cascada is a lost media
Despite this being a hoax, this song makes me so sad. It's so melancholy, it perfectly captures the vibe and tone of a lost time. Oh well at least EKT got a funny ending and a remake.
Its really like meta/ironic that shes a digital girl obscured throughout time like an unpopular vocaloid/lost pop star that never came to be??? 04/04/2024 update: I’m happy to say, one of the members at the Digital Girl subreddit contacted Emails, the artist of the song. The artist has confirmed that they are the one that created this Digital Girl song. Turns out, the one we’re listening to is a demo version and if there is enough demand… We could finally see a full version of “Lost in the Code.” Which means… SHE WILL BE FOUND IN THE CODE WITH THIS ONE!! 🗣️🗣️🔥🔥👾👾

@@isnt42so basically, "lostwave" is a term for songs that have become lost media somehow, usually through obscurity (like, for example, before this song was revealed to be a hoax, people thought it may have been from myspace and deleted). people can find clips of lostwave songs (or even a full song, if you're lucky) through radio recordings, obscure dvds, random low view count videos on the internet (im mildly interested in vocaloid lost media, and a lot of those songs get partially recovered though clips from an old video sharing site called niconicodouga, which was popular around the late 2000s; as a more recent example, a popular lostwave song called ulterior motives got found in an old 80s porno of all things), etc. people are really passionate about lostwave + finding lost media in general nowadays because of the increase in awareness for media preservation due to a number of factors, like the death of flash and the rise of streaming services. hoaxers are people who make clips of fake lostwave songs without disclosing it; this is really, REALLY annoying because it makes people waste a bunch of time and energy searching for songs that dont actually exist.
Honestly knowing this song was a hoax, reading the old comments saying they hope it gets found and it’s really good and making theories on it makes me feel like i’m watching vhs recordings of a happy family before they were killed in war.
I'm so disappointed that this song ended up being a hoax. Instead of the creator of lying saying that the song was lost media, he could have made it an entire song because it legitimately sounds amazing. I'm just so disappointed with the person who made up the fact that it was lost media.

Since people are on this…I’m looking for MV of this one song that was maybe popular between 2008-2012 , I can’t remember its release date or when it was posted on RU-vid. But the MV was blurry and when I went to look up the artist they weren’t on any streaming platforms. (This was when I found the song on RU-vid) The MV might have had a frutiger aero style, the male singer was in a game of some sort. He had black hair in that side swept hairstyle. @@purplebuggSongs on MySpace. An absurd amount of media has been lost that was stored on MySpace. MySpace got deleted and there are no back ups for anything, so quite literally everything on there got erased.

In fact, the most recent song on the mixtape album its ripped from, Waka Laka (a famous DDR song), is from 2003.
