Digitech TrioPlus Band Creator :
- comparing the drums+bass generated with 5 different teaching inputs.
- same setup (Blues-1), same chords, same tempo.
At the end you can ear the difference.
My thoughts :
- drum part is identical whatever the guitar teaching technique (I am a bit disappointed)
- bass part can be different depending on the guitar input (this is a very good point)
I am spending too much time trying to have my right backing track, I feeling like having a normal drum machine would help. Any thoughts ?

Thank you! A variable less, identical drum part, sounds good for me, especially in my case, where I want to busk live on the streets! Adjusting drums with tempo and different setups(styles) could be good too, have a look at Slobomitics RU-vid chanel!. For me alternative drum maschines, until now, sounding boring and mechanically. Slobomitic has a lot of Trio+ samples, if you not already know!? ru-vid.comvideos

I'm finding that playing along with a drum machine, directly with the guitar signal path going straight into Trio plus, helps tempo wise for the guitar playing and timing of when to hit the "end it"/ learn button. Get more variations from pressing the learn button at the wrong moment than anything else.

I would also add that the Trio plus doesn't seem to get disturbed by the drum machine banging away.

I read that Cort purchased Digitech earlier this year. Wouldn't it be cool if they came out with an updated version of this pedal? Increase number of parts available A small screen so you could see the name of the "song" as your turn the dial An auto "count-in" feature More than 12 songs per card Updated electronics to take advantage of better sounds then they had 10 years ago Ability to program a "break" (no bass/drums for x measures) Better software interface to manage your cards Etc....I'm sure there are plenty more suggestions.

Yes, all that, and being able to easily dial in an exact BPM and to have it visible.

A very good test. I couldn’t really hear much difference between any of the 5 tracks. I wonder would if you had recorded the 1st track with the red bass light on (simplified) how that would sound. I must try it. 😊👍

Thanks for this. However, I have two questions I’m hoping someone can answer: 1) If i am laying down a simple 12 bar 1-4-5 blues and i give it a few chords, how will the bass line know to play thru the whole progression, including a turnaround? Hopefully, I wouldn’t need to add each element as a separate part. 2) If i was using this to save presets for playing live with my small trio side project, am I only able to save 12 songs at a time? Thanks.

Hi ! 1. You record the full 12 bar blues in 1 slot. The bass line will be adapted to the genre. 2. Yes you have 12 songs of 5 parts. You can hack and have more if you have a song that needs less parts. You can change the sd card during a short pause, and then you have 12 more songs.

It seems the arpeggio teaching resulted in confusing bass lines. Not sure what to conclude from the other ways. What did you learn from this?

Hello, the bass lines are different and you are right that sometimes it is messy. I now teach the trio with very basic chords, even with only one note at a time. This is how i get the best band i am looking for. But sometimes i like to teach a random messy line to hear what the trio will generate. Sometimes this is interresting result

Hello, can you recommend a power source for the trio+ on a pedalboard? I could use the wall wart on an extension cord, but I’d rather have it on my board. Thanks

Hello, sorry i don't know. I am using only original power supplies.

I wanted to battery power the Trio Plus and it is possible, but you need to bear in mind that it is a real power hog. I connected a large-capacity USB powerbank to a 5V to 9V step-up converter that in theory could handle 800 mA (the current draw of the Trio Plus) bought online but I very quickly fried the converter. I managed to get my setup to work by powering the Trio Plus through TWO converters. Make sure that any converters or wall wart that you use can supply a total of at least 1000 mA (constant current, not peak current). It's useful if you can find converters with a digital display to monitor what current and/or power is going through them. Any guitar effect external 9 volt PSU with a standard centre-negative connector will work with the Trio Plus provided it can supply at least 1000 mA.

It works better if you take the effects off of the guitar when teaching it . Especially Tremolo or delay effects . They really mess with how it interprets what your teaching it.

The guitar is plugged into the "guitar in" of the Trio and the effects are in the FX loop so they have no impact in the teaching.

@@GuitarMusicCapsule I hadnt considered that , I use an external acoustic modeler , direct in and under that circumstance effects can cause issues. thanx
