Not only do you have to know about the bees but it seems you need to be structural engineers and roofers. Neither of which you always have the right tools. You guys have super powers for sure!!
Anyone else craving honey right now? That honeycomb looks absolutely delicious ; it’s the nectar of the Gods. Honey is the most purest and most beneficial food on the planet and has been used as an antibacterial to treat wounds since the dawn of time even as late as WWI before penicillin was created and available. I treated my brown recluse spider bite infection with honey, no antibiotics required and it’s healing very quickly. Bee stings are also used to treat arthritis; bees are the most important little creatures on the planet.
My popcorn is almost done. I’m so glad it’s you, not me. I’m not only an amateur, but in the beekeeping world, I’m considered a novice. No way should I be even close to where you are. I appreciate the work you do.
Maybe you can get some stand-up sign, that say killer bees. To go with the Police tape, that would tell the people to stay away because these killer bees are really dangerous and can kill you. I love watching your video, it's exciting and educational.
Get yourself Nitecore SRT7i flashlights. I don't think you'll be sorry. They're kinda expensive at about $125/ea, but the beam intensity is insane for putting a lot of light where you need it. The ring at the back can be turned from 0 lumens up to 3000 lumens. Don't just go by the lumens. You really want to focus on the focus (beam intensity) and throw distance. I've got 4000 lumens nitcores that are nowhere near as focused and bright as the SRT7i because they're more of a flood light than a spot light, and when you're working in a sunny area with shadows, you need it to be focused.
@killerbeeguys, Amazon sells lights on the front of stocking caps, I have a couple, cause it’s so dark and cold, here in Fairbanks, Alaska, you could use a double stick tape, I use Alien tape, to stick on the front of your bee suits, thanks for the videos.
Forgive me if this is a dumb question... but, are "Africanized" bees different than actual African bees from Africa? Or are all bees in Africa "killer bees"?
Good question! The 'African' honeybees was crossbred with the European to make the Africanized! The African honeybees is a little more aggressive than the European but nothing like the crossbreed.
This is a second video I watched of you working. The first one my heart was in my mouth. You had to sit up, finally hive and prepare everything as you were being attacked. This time you’re able to set everything up and stage your work ahead of you of removing and eliminating as many of the Africanized bees as possible. I’m also not necessarily surprised that they are still being calm. It has been my experience that you cannot count on anything when it comes to Africanized bees. They can behave like European bees, that is until they explode. You can never trust them to remain calm. It’s like waking a sleeping Kodiak bear. As long as they are, drowsy, and still asleep, they are very safe, but once they open their eyes, and you’re in their space…… it’s all over with.
Hi, you commented that you needed a really good flashlight. Have you tried/heard of Olight? Their flashlights are second to none, and they have them to cover all situations. Give them a look and see if they could be what you need 😊 This is the 2nd video of yours I am watching, I'm in Cornwall UK 🇬🇧
This distresses me, that you recommend not keeping hives. Especially as a hobby beekeeper. That defines I. When I lived in Arizona, I kept bees. This was 2013 when I had to give it up because I was leaving Arizona. When I finally settled, I was not in a position to start my bees again. Sometime in 2024 or 2025. I’ll be ready again to have my bees. The rapid expansion of Africanized bees has always been on my mind. No I’m not sure what I’m going to do. It would be a terrible struggle to keep a European hive friendly. When in Arizona I had to keep replacing the queen. At the same time the worry was the new queen may have been on our maiden flight, found by Africanized bees, despite the fact that they were from the northern latitudes. I know I’m hearing you, right…. The guarantee, as loose as it was back, then almost 10 years ago, is nonexistent today. I’m not a happy camper. I was worried 10 years ago about my hives becoming africanized, I excepted that it was more work than it was at one time. Requeening is not necessarily easy if you do not do it, right, the hive can kill the new queen without the proper introduction.
Have you had any calls for removals this week yet? Aside from yesterday's big removal at Dillon's I'm a bit surprised at how quiet it's been for you guys.
Please comment on the fact that you are using an spray adhesive containing acetone in confined areas. This could cause an explosion all you need is a spark or static to ignite I saw you / your assistant using this in the 5th wheel segment bedroom, he was in an extremely confined area using a LOT OF THIS SPRAY plus it's poisonous! WHEW! This is a very hazardous procedure you are doing you need to really consider.
Thank you for the thoughts Willy! Here in the desert any accelerant dissipates within seconds. I'm not sure if that is what is used in the brand we use but I'll look! Thanks again!
Watched this love from start to finish. Other then difficulty to get to, was it all you expected.? Thankfully l, they weren't as nasty as the one in the trailer cabinet.
I watch a you tuber who has 3 hives in her back yard. 1 suddenly went hot (put her in the hospital)and she immediately requeened the hive, calmed down to normal in no time but I think she caught it extremely early in the corruption process also helps that she works around them in the coop and garden daily so is always on top of issues. It was reacting so insanely towards nothing and everything they had to be africanized.
@@KillerBeeGuy I think it’s like the difference between water proof and water resistance. Water proof is no water in no damage. Water resistance is some water can get in but no guarantee it won’t cause major damage. Somehow I think the suit is just resistant but no guarantee 🐝🦟
