I like how you got him to throw that punch full force. Do you ever try these blocks in a sparring situation? (Get someone to just try and wail on you while you block and push etc)

I see. I'm always interested to find out as, from experience, there's a whole world of difference between learning to block a punch in a demonstration situation, then having someone swing at me. Getting over the instinct to close your eyes and flinch can take time. Also, it teaches you that you can't leave any holes in your block. Fists will find a way haha. A simulated bar brawl? That sounds like it could be quite a lot of fun haha. I imagine it's not meant to be, but I imagine it would result in some wonderful stories. Oh, for sure sparring has its limitations, and it wasn't the perfect word for what I meant there. I just meant blocking while someone tries to really swing at you. I suppose sparring was the closest word I could think of. Any training has rules, really, I feel sparring definitely serves a very valid purpose, though.

@@amartailor8350 Amar I can assure you the Sifu knows his stuff, as I have had the privilege of training with him, one of his more accomplished students was European middleweight Kickboxing champion Jason Curtis, put it this way, Curtis would not be were he is today without the invaluable tuition from the Sifu.Regards Amar

I really like your videos and how you brake things down. Is there any place to purchase them? Basically I'm looking for ways to handle an attacker with out injuring them.

Subscribed. Awesome technique which doesn’t require much strength. Kind of like aikido but without needing to grab the opponent nor do fancy moves that wouldn’t work in real fights

looks like a tan sao, bong sao, chun of wing chun, your techniques can be applied to wing chun. I like your explanations of redirecting force and the ying yang application

fantastic! i have been unknowingly using the cotton fist Whist using my reflex bag , there really is a difference in power. I know nothing about the Iron Palm system as I'm from a ITF tkd background , very interesting!

A similar technique is used in seven star praying mantis Kung fu. The force is redirected too.

Really good stuff. Some of the best techniques I have seen have come from American Kenpo , San Soo Kung Fu ( or SCARS/SAFTA ) and Dim Mak. Silat and Ninjutsu are really good arts to train in too. But when it comes to the pressure point hits Dim Mak stands alone. Great combinations too.

What Styles have you mastered Sifu Steve? I love the accent and your knowledge is refreshing to a old Shaolin Wing Chun Sifu. I am going to give your video to some of my students to watch as I don't think I could have done a better job explaining a blocking arm transfer. A claw to the face pushing back on the face as you step between their legs and lay them down on their head as you walk away is my personal favorite follow up. Good stuff keep it up.

Truly powerful! I have been studying martial arts for 25 years and find this teaching refreshing. Soft overcoming hard and the use of Dim Mak points is powerful! I love the fluid movements like found in Tai Chi.
