They sound beautiful together & this is not their first duet. They sang together on another Chinese show a couple of weeks ago. The show was called Our Song & their duet had an operatic flavour. It was called Red Moon & was fab! He also sang with another Chinese songstress & the song was called Becoming a Poet. Another beautiful song. Xiaoyun (SHOW (like how or cow) and ( Yen, yun, YOON - three videos all pronounced it slightly differently) has sung with Dimash three previous times. They were all excellent. This one is magnificent! I can’t get it out of my mind. Nobody can do what Dimash can do. He has absolute mastery over his voice and instinctively knows exactly what a song needs. I love Xiaoyun’s more operatic voice. Like Dimash, she studied opera at university. She did a short segment of Tchaikovsky’s aria Nightingale with Dimash. This duet, though beautiful, does not quite do justice to Xiao Yun's operatic voice. Dimash, of course, remains unmatched in his vocal power, his ability to project, and his huge range. However, Xiao Yun is capable of vocal feats significant enough to have earned her the top rank at China's most prestigious Bel Canto conservatory. Having graced the stage and television since the age of 16, she is now 25 and continues to rise within the Chinese star system. Not exactly, no. What is referred to as the "Beijin opera" is a highly codified form of traditional music and singing, into which all sorts of genres can be incorporated, including Western opera and even rap. It is a very popular form of opera, and you can find a fine example of it on RU-vid with Huo Zun in "Farewell My Concubine". Huang Xiao Yun has never performed in Beijing opera and-much to my regret-she is unfamiliar with this musical tradition. The opera she has studied is Bel Canto, which is Western opera (such as The Queen of the Night, The Doll Song, etc.).
I agree-Dimash is fantastic in this. I'm not saying she's not good (she is) but I just love his vocals in this. Chinese always have great backgrounds of their stages , at least for their music stages.
