I love all of Dimash's music, but this and when he sang SOS on The Singer, are my top two. This is the original song that Autumn Strong was based on. You could react to the backstory of this song on Gloria Wu's channel. Dimash is more than a singer. He is a performer extraordinaire. His voice feels like it penetrates my body and goes straight into my heart. Thank you for this. I would love to hear your comments on Dimash's performances on The Singer 2017. This was his introduction to the rest of the world. He was only 22, competing in a show originally for professional Chinese singers with established careers. He was the first foreigner and the youngest singer in the show's history. He only spoke Kazakh and Russian. His first four songs were in French, Russian, English, and Mandarin. The other singers were 12-39 years his senior. Every round his English and Mandarin improved. The other singers said it was stressful to perform after Dimash. Started my Monday morning, in the U.K. with watching your reaction . Horrid weather outside but I was just melting listening to Ikenaide. It’s hard to pick a favourite but it’s definite,y top three. Dimash is just precious. He’s added so much to my life. I’m going to see my fourth concert of his, in Budapest in may. So grateful that at age 79 I am still able to have this experience, but to all the dears that can’t get to concerts, so pleased that Dimash shares so much of his talent and hard work on you tube.

This song is sooo beautiful❤️. And he performed it with so much emotions. You literally can feel his pain😪. His first song in Japanese. He has been invited to perform at the Tokyo Jazz Festival in 2021. But he couldn't go to Japan because of Covid. So he had to sing it from the studio in China. There he took part in the show Shine! Super Brothers. I’m not sure but I think it was his studio in China. But I do know he got a studio as a gift for his birthday. If the Japanese reactors are to be believed, Dimash sang in perfect Japanese. Some also claimed that it was better Japanese than many Japanese themselves😅. Olimpico is another masterpiece that Igor Krutoy wrote especially for Dimash’s vocal skills. It was written for the 2nd European Games in Minsk, Belarus 2019. Dimash is a master of the story-telling, his voice makes you feel deep emotions and takes you there where that song happened. Beautiful!! A Japanese reactor mentioned that his softness with the hard consonants is a function of how well Dimash understands and has learned the mechanics (tongue and jaw placement) of the Japanese language. Well, he sings in a lot of languages he doesn't speak. This song, the version he sang first was in Chinese, not Japanese. Autumn Strong or Late Autumn is the title and he sang it in 2017 on The Singer show. FYI his pronunciation is very good here. This song is based on real life events of Japanese woman, who lived in China during World War 2.
The original singer of this song praised Dimash as the only foreigner who can “get” the soul of the song right. Also, there is a Chinese version of this song called “Autumn Strong”. If you read the lyrics and the background story behind these two songs you will understand the connection. If Ikanaide was from someone who is left behind, then Autumn Strong is from someone who is leaving. Both are from the opposite pov but together they are a complete circle.

This version "Ikanaide" (行かないで) ) is the original, from 1989, composed by Koji Tamaki (famous Japanese singer, born in 1958) with lyrics by Goro Matsui. The version "Autumn Strong" (Late Autumn), sung in Chinese, uses the same song, but has another lyrics (Yaqui Cheung, from 1993) and another theme: It talks about the Japanese actress Yoshiko Yamagushi, very dear to the Chinese, who was deported when they discovered her Japanese origin (his real name was Li Xiang Lan and we're talking about World War II, where Japan was China's enemy) and never returned to China. My mom was at his concert in 2020, she is still very impressed. She often remembers this concert. Dimash sang live for all three hours.
