This was the singer show one year later after his first appearance as the first singer that year and the youngest singer at 22 yrs old. So he must be around 23. Vocal coaches from all over the world and you tube including their students have come to cretic both of these performances plus the rest of them from the first year. But most of the time they are criticing his voice and not the many performance arts that he used to make the songs. He either made them or collabed. The reason I know that is because of his age, 22 he would have been already thr with his 2 masters at 22 and would have started his doctorate. And that usually takes 2 years, but dimash has been full time singer of concerts and appearances since he left singer. But the thing that they don’t give him credit for is everything heard and seen would have been Dimash as his career started at 2 years old as found in Wikipedia bio. And experience and education over 20 years. That’s why whenever you hear dimashs voice it’s not a pop voice started in his teens. He also had a master class in Broadway stage production. Not only is this info sometimes overlooked but the show itself was a competition of professional singer peers with their own fans and probably their own music. Dimash only had to prove himself with the first song sos, because over night the show gave him 1,000,000,000 fans.

At the end of the second verse, Dimash sings "I love you" in Mandarin ("Wo ai ni") to the Chinese audience, and again in the third verse, adding "Men (I) seni (you) suyemin(love)" in Kazakh, before whispering "Thank you very much" in Mandarin at the end. Dimash beautifully incorporates Middle Eastern (Armenian, Turkish, Arabic, Azerbaijani, Kazakh) runs in the song.

Such a lovely addition of a traditional sound. Dimash rarely does familiar covers, but when he does is not a copy, it’s always his interpretation and emotion that is conveyed. I could be wrong, but I understand that Lionel politely requested that Dimash not cover any of his songs, this is the only performance I have seen of this song by Dimash. Now that’s how that song should have been sung in the 1st place cause my personal opinion is that song always bored me. It was so over played, it grates on me now. I love this version. I didn’t listen to dimashs version for about a year because of the origional version boring me so much, now I listen to this most days, not Lionel Richie’s, I dislike him even more now after he spat the dummy out when he heard Dimash and banned him from ever singing HIS song again. Another great reaction guys :) I loved the nuance Heather pointed out, "unrequited love" :) I also like his portrayal of the "loud internal cry" that then translates into an unassuming, delicate "i love you" on the outside For people wondering about the non-english words Dimash sang, they were "I love you" in mandarin - "wǒ ài nǐ", and then at the end, in kazakh - "men seni süyemin" :) This was in 2018, after "The Singer" (2017), he was invited back as a guest this time, to sing a song in the finale episode - he celebrated a one-year anniversary of his own finale night from The Singer 2017 by dedicating "Hello... i want to tell you so much i love you, wǒ ài nǐ, and men seni süyemin" to the people who became his fans and supporters after seing him on The Singer, and propelled him to international fame during that first year of his (more public) career :) And the "secret message" at the end was in mandarin, "fēicháng gǎnxiè" = "thank you very much" :)
