Great Reaction to first time hearing Dimash!!!! This was the first night of the Chinese competition show - The Singer - in 2017. Generally only accomplished Chinese singers would compete. But as Dimash had won several Kazakhstan contests, he was invited to compete as a wild card. As this was his first performance and being an unknown, the audience was advised in advance by the producers to applaud and give him a warm welcome to the stage. By the end of the song, they were applauding and cheering for real. He took first place for that night's competition. The next day, he had 600 million hits on Weibo (China’s Instagram)... and the rest, as they say, is history.

Dimash was asked to join the Astana Opera, in Nur-Sultan Kazakhstan, his home country, but turned them down. He wanted to explore all kinds of music, and not be "stuck" with one genre. He sings songs in just about every genre, and can sing in 12 languages. He has studied music and vocals since he was five years old. He holds degrees in both contemporary and classical music, just received his masters degree in composition this past June, and says he will continue on to receive his doctorate. Keep on with your journey into Dimash, he will not disappoint.
