In a behind the scenes of filming of this, Dimash's character moves in front of her to protect her and is shot. They chose to leave that part out when it was released to leave the end up to the viewer.

On Dimash News they wrote (I quote it partly): … The story of creation and the message of the video was told by the director Alina Veripia. Dimash presented a new music video Okay As Alina shared, when she had the opportunity to shoot a music video for Dimash, it took her breath away. The composition inspired her so much that after receiving comments and feedback from the performer, she immediately started writing a script. As a result, Alina created four different stories, and she was very happy when Dimash chose her favorite one. Dimash presented a new music video Okay “This is a very beautiful and deep love story that takes place during the years of Stalin’s repressions. In this horror, in this piercing cold, in this crime, the love of two people is born, as if they did not come from this world. And they are so pure, so beautiful in their feelings, that no darkness can extinguish this light. And you will understand what I’m talking about when you watch the clip,” Alina Veripia shared. … I‘m glad that they chose the version with an open end. I have seen a version where Dimash got shot but it was never released officially and taken down from internet quickly.

This video is set in 1937 during the Stalinist purges. The secret police had total power. They executed millions of people--not just their political enemies, but also ethnic minorities who they considered "untrustworthy." This video shows Dimash is a musician and she is a dancer. Musicians, dancers, and artists were among those falsely accused of crimes and executed. Dimash as the hero perhaps represents both of these categories. His song Daididau was written by a Kazakh dissident writer, poet, scientist and teacher, Mazhan Zhumabaev, who was arrested and murdered during one of these purges in 1938. History if not remembered can repeat itself. This kind of oppression should never happen again, and yet it still occurs around the world today. The shot of a gun has a final ending.

Glad to see you back with Dimash again. There’s lots that you haven’t reacted to with Dimash and. Hope you get to them eventually. He recently put out a jazzed up version of a Kazakh folk song called Dudurai. It was quite a surprise to the dears.

This song doesn't show his wide range or vocal exercises, just this incredibly soft, breathy voice. I think that's a very good choice for this song. At first the song didn't appeal to me that much. I wasn't alone there. But together with the MV it is a masterpiece. It moved me incredibly. All his songs and especially the MV’s have a deeper meaning. I love this one so much. It’s one of my favorites. The MV is about the time during Stalin’s repression in 1937. Back then, the secret police could do whatever they wanted. I think this officer for some reason was looking for Dimash’s character and then forced his girlfriend into some kind of relationship. Maybe that's why she had to end the relationship with Dimash without telling him the reason to protect him. She had to endure it to protect the love of her life. So he had to accept her decision without knowing that she still loved him. The official, realizing that she never stopped loving Dimash's character, ended everything in his own way. But unfortunately I have to disappoint you. The video was shot to the end, but the scene at the end where he dies in her arms was left out. As for the song, I actually like it better without the vocal acrobatics. We all know what Dimash is capable of vocally and I find that breathy, deeply sad voice really fitting. The MV really moved me deeply. There is a backstage video of Dimash collapsing in the arms of that girl😭. OMG he’s such a great actor too. The story is obvious, however it is Stalin, kgb, etc. Dimash is insanely brave to take on such subjects. He says he is just singing... What an absolutely marvelous human being. If Dimash had been shot think there’d be an outpouring of grief, so they couldn’t show that, but in “reality” Dimash would have protected her and for sure he’d have been the one that would’ve died. There's a bts video which shows Dimash's death scene. But its all in Russian. But i did hear from people, who i know, who speak Russian that Dimash did an awesome job in his scene that people teared up on set.

Seems like a good song while making love to someone. A bit too slow for me, but then from a hard rock/metal type persona, that should make sense, lol. Musically it was very well done and matched up with both his singing and the video. For me personally, he would be background music, kind of like soft jazz when having a candlelight dinner (ha, when was the last time I had one of those, lol).

how did this story end? Dimash showed the process of filming his video "Okau" and upset fans. The original video ends with a shot in the back to the main characters - a young couple in love who run away from a deceived military man with a pistol. However, it was clear from the behind-the-scenes video that the director initially wanted to "kill" the musician's character, who covered up his beloved.... But they left such an ending, giving us the opportunity to decide for ourselves....

This songs sounds easy but try to sing it in like very breathy and shallow without breaking or faltering voice is hard. Dimash have so many tricks in his pocket, you just don’t know what you’re getting

A good work always leaves something unsaid, allowing us to become partners in creativity. Any interpretation of this clip has the right to exist. In my interpretation, all the contradictions and inconsistencies between the video and the lyrics have been resolved. I had a puzzle formed when I spread the events described in the verses and shown in the video in time. The whole plot of the song is divided into 2 parts. The first part in the frame: the confrontation of Love and Coercion as an allegory of the confrontation of Liberty and Suppression (a very timely identification of modern Russian realities with the time of Stalin's repressions in 1937). The second part of the plot is out of the frame, in the lyrics. Imagine that with a shot, the light goes out not only on the screen, but also in the eyes of our hero... Dimash's character stands in a dirty gray cold corner of St. Petersburg and tells us his story... A posthumous account of the life events that led him to this reality. The voice of the disembodied spirit of the slain hero is like the rustle of the wind that whirls with flakes of snow flying in this St. Petersburg dead end, in which our hero is stuck forever... The lyrics say that the world was once colored... All the colors remained in the world of the living. There is eternal gray in this St. Petersburg lane... And the hero's memories are also MONOCHROME. He paints everything the same color. Pleasant memories are painted with warm shades, unpleasant ones with cold ones. The comments seem to run with Dimash being shot. I think it is also possible the girl gets shot. The soldier would see her leaving as a betrayal. And shooting her would hurt Dimash. Of course, then the Dimash character would be shot too. Can't leave a rebel like that hanging around.

I get sadden by the video and the story and even more so when I understand from other comments that it is based on historical events. And sadly oppression, war and people not being able to live in peace keeps happening over and over again.

For me this is Dimash´s most uninteresting and boring song ever. It's only the video that somewhat distracts from this fact. But a good song should stand on its own. This one doesn't.
