This song is a national hymn celebrating the day Kazakhstan gained independence from the Soviet Union (the same year Dimash was born). Notice how the gesture Dimash often makes, stretching his arms out sideways (the one you mentioned near the beginning), is a representation of the outstretched wings of the national bird/animal of Kazakhstan, the golden steppe eagle, which is shown behind him. I think that this gesture is sometimes misinterpreted as saying "look at me", like at the end of "Opera 2", but I think he is symbolically embracing his audience in the "wings" of his country. The giant eagle prop also played a part in the Bastau concert, and if you remember the "Across Endless Dimensions" video you saw, it showed a golden eagle taking off right at the moment his voice soared into his higher register.

You have been reacting to songs from one TV show he was in for 4 months, he had to sing covers, he was only allowed to sing one of his own compositions, he doesn't sing covers any more. This performance was a traditional Kazakh folk song but it has been bought up to date and it is sung each year for the Independence Holiday in Kazakhstan, this year it was an online performance. Dimash has sung it for 4 years as the main performer. I love this song and all his Kazakh songs, they are so beautiful.
