Hi from the UK 🇬🇧 Yes Dimash has a global fan base, he says himself that music has no boundaries or borders. His New York concert was attended by 19,000 people from almost 60 countries who came together under one roof singing in Kazakh. The most beautiful sight I have ever seen was watching him and the audience sing Daididau together and his emotional reaction at the end. He happily covers bass range right through to soprano. Most songs allow for his free movement of voice but Stranger will definitely give you more of an impression of his lower range and also of the stunning breath control he is renowned for.

Greetings from Seattle area, USA. I personally prefer the SOS version he did on the Chinese reality show, The Singer, because that's the one that introduced him to the world. Also, the one he did at Slavic Bazaar a year later is also excellent and very popular. Of course, as a hard core Dimash Dear I love this one as well and it's a pleasure to see anyone react to Dimash anytime, anywhere, anything. Thank you for doing so. As others have mentioned, Stranger and Olimpico (aka, Ogni Pietra) are good ways to experience Dimash lower range--much lower than you'll hear on this song.

Even bass singers reacting say they don't know how Dimash with such a high voice can go so low, they are completely shocked by it.

There are three renditions of SOS that are kinda ‘must haves’ in anyone’s Dimash collection. The first is from a Chinese competition in 2017 (I am Singer), when he wasn’t well known outside his native Kazakhstan. He became famous literally overnight on this show for professional singers where he was a wild card invitee. Many millions of people watched the broadcast and the following day the hosts provided him with bodyguards, to his great surprise… until he saw the crowds. The second is from 2018 where he performed at the Slavic Bazaar concert. His French had improved a lot and he’d worked over the performance to polish it. It’s probably the cleanest, most ‘perfect’ version, but not to everyone’s taste (some feel it’s slightly over-produced). My favourite is the one you just watched, from his 2021 online concert, where he concentrates more on the emotion. It’s an incredibly important song to him personally, partly because it kick-started his career, and partly because he associates it with a close friend who died in tragic circumstances in 2018. He is probably the most technically able vocalist who has ever lived. His 7+ octave range goes from F#1 to D8 (which is off the piano at the high end), and he can growl lower. What really sets him apart is his control in every register and his ability to mask the transitions. SOS doesn’t get to either end of that incredible range, spanning between 4 and 5 octaves in the 2021 version. He has lived for music since he was a toddler and started formal training at the age of five. He holds Masters degrees in Classical and Contemporary music and is studying for his Doctorate. He composes, plays multiple instruments, speaks four languages (Kazakh and Russian fluently, English reasonably well and Mandarin… a bit) and has sung in 13 languages. He’s experimental and has explored many different genres, even rap. He also does martial arts, swims daily to build lung capacity and has pretty good soccer skills… on top of which he’s kind, humble and generous. Oh, and tall.

Hi from Germany! Thanks for your reaction! I love this version of S.O.S because it is so intense, but due to the pandemic it was from a whole digital show (1.5 hours) and without audience. Dimash is so great live on stage, so perfect and connected with the people! "Stranger" and "Olympico" are great and totally different choices as others recommended already, also "Love of tired swans" to get more of his lower range (everything in it...) or "Sinful passion" (with more surprises...). Consider to react to his music videos, they are also great and all worth watching - e.g. "Be with me". Enjoy! And don't think you can ever know what's coming from Dimash... ;-)

I am a 69-year-old grandmother, born and raised in Germany but living in the US since 1973. The first song I heard by Dimash was "Unforgettable Day" from the Gakku concert, where he hit that incredible D8 whistle tone. Someone had added the link to a comment of a blog that discussed animal sounds. One song from Dimash is all it takes. And the more I hear and learn, the greater my respect and admiration grows for his incredible talent; his expansive knowledge and deep understanding of music from different cultures, ages, and genres; his love for his family, friends, and people everywhere; his sincerity, kindness and humbleness that is rooted in authentic spiritual understanding. He is so much more than just a singer. He is a true Master. He grasps and employs universal archetypes in music to such a degree that people are deeply moved even if they do not understand any of the words. Dimash knows how to use and channel the sound of his voice to awaken something very deep in the psyche of the audience. For that reason, some call him an angel, others call him a prince. Because he is not ego-driven, Dimash does not abuse this power and deflects any cult-like outpourings with modesty, grace and praise for the contributions of others. He always shows the utmost respect for his talent and the ethical responsibilities that go with his god-given gift. His fanbase is in 140+ countries and growing. We are called his Dears, as he loves his audience as if they are family. His concerts are the best, and are many, international, and are about to start up again now that the covid scam has been exposed. He does have songs available on Apple, etc., but concerts are his thing, as he loves to interact with audiences. There are digital concerts too, as you have just seen, because of the covid restrictions, as he is always trying to keep his Dears happy with new content.

This is the song of the songs for Dimash and us, his Dears. You can always watch all versions with us dears. Every performance is different and great. This song comes from the famous Canadian-French rock opera STARMANIA 1978, well known in French-speaking countries and is one of the most difficult songs to sing and made Dimash a mega-star overnight. In 2017 Dimash received a wildcard for the “The Singer” competition in China. He was the youngest participant ever (22 years old) and the first non-Chinese. Foreign participants were actually forbidden until then. The director ignored the ban, believing Dimash would only stay 1 or 2 episodes and then go home. Despite Dimash's planned brief presence, his name was intended to be symbolic and understandable to the public. Dimash was given the Chinese name Dimashi and the 3 syllables were assigned Chinese hydroglyphs: Di - achievement Ma - precious stone Shi - dream, wish. This competition is not a talent show. Only professional, award-winning singers participate. Nobody knew or heard Dimash before and he had to start first ... and after his first song "SOS" Dimash captured the hearts of over 600 million viewers overnight. The next day, bodyguards stood in front of his door. The competition consisted of 14 rounds over 4 months. The jury consisted of 500 spectators who knew music, not just your average "Joe". They were well screened to be sure they would be able to judge the musicians fairly and competently. With up to 1 billion people watching this TV program and international interest was aroused. The performances were uploaded to RU-vid ... and so we became Dimash's Dears. The Chinese organizers planned... but Dimash came, sang and stayed ... for the next 3 years in China ... but he only finished second in the competition because he is not Chinese (conditions have changed: 2018, Jessie J. won). He's an extremely intelligent singer and in control of his huge arsenal of registers and colors. Also the very recent Ikanaide from Tokyo Jazz Festival 2021 is worth a reaction video.

You just witnessed the greatest vocalist of all time. He’s from Kazakhstan, sings in 13 different languages, plays multiple musical instruments and is currently working on his PhD in music. He’s been training since the age of 5, has a 6-8 octave range (depending on who you ask) has absolute pitch, and is an amazingly humble man. He sings every genre (even raps) He has many recent performances, but I would highly recommend “Sinful Passion “ 2018, "Daybreak" at Bastau 2017 and then "Stranger" 2021 and "Ikanaide" 2021. Try Dimash's cover to DIVA DANCE. A song written that humans could NOT sing. It was artificially Computer generated for the Sci fi movie " The 5th Element.

He did a cover of Opera 2 (Vitas) [not opera style] back in 2017 that goes from his mid tenor range up to near the top of his head voice and/or falsetto. His recent Ikanaide (in Japanese!) is mostly in his mid to high tenor range with just a little section midway of his high head voice and a tiny bit of his baritone range at the end. Some of his Kazakh songs that are folk songs or folk inspired don't have a really wide range. Many of his songs are slightly enhanced from the original to have a high section. Most other singers might have added a high lead guitar solo, but Dimash usually prefers to sing it. This version of SOS is interesting in that he did give a short guitar lead instead of singing it. That's one of the big differences between 2017 and now - he is rethinking some older decisions and making new choices based on a sense of musical balance.

Personably I prefer sos from the singer show in China. If you want deep then react to stranger, live at new wave or olimpico ogni pietra, Dimash sings higher than Mariah Carey and vocal fry. To see more of Dimash’s lower register, try Olimpico aka Ogni Pietra (look for the one from Igor Krutoy’s channel from Dimash’s solo concert in Kazakhstan in 2019 which is my favorite version) - he stays in a lower register for quite some time in that one.

And yes, Dimash can sing in whatever vocal range he wants, like no other human can. A gift , and a lot , but a lot of work , they do the best . I expect reactions to "Ave Maria", "Stranger", "Ikanaide" among many of his impressive performances. . Dimash can go from tenor to soprano in a second. If you like their bass, I recommend "Stranger", "Know", "Love it´s a like dreams"

I hope you can do Ikanaide which he did in Japanese. It is incredible. He is often called alien. You should see him do Diva Dance in his concert from Bastau. It is short. Diva Dance, the blue alien song from the movie Fifth Element which was not meant to be performed by actual humans. I am from the U.S. Texas to be exact. Thank you for doing more Dimash. Now that you see a fraction of what he can do, I do hope you will continue. Yes, he has fans all over the world. When he did a sold out concert in New York at the Barclays, people from approximately 44 different countries flew in to see it, some as far away as Iceland.
