Makes me laugh to see people still saying "lazy". Berbatov's positioning is superb. And he may not be the fastest runner, but he makes up for that with quick thinking. Such a creative player. Technically gifted.. and really just a joy to watch.
Berba is a football GENIUS, amongst the most elite in the game throughout his entire career, and AF's treatment as Berba's Man U days came to end was baffling. Berba has always been team first: note how joyful his teammates (particularly Rooney) are on each of his goals, they knew his genius; note how Berba wasn't looking to score on the last 3 goals, but instead was passing first, then reacting. And the mid-field pass that unlocked the D setting up the 3rd goal! You can't find a place on your starting squad, or on your CL roster, for such a genius??? Totally baffling, and a real shame because the world missed out on seeing more of his genius at work.
The fact of the matter is United were a better team without Berbatov in it when fergie was dropping him. Yes he scored the odd hat trick at home and 5 goals here. But as a united fan watching him week in week out, particularly away from home he was just so out of touch with the rest of the team. You could turn around and say he didn't deserve the treatment he got from SAF and you could be right, but Fergie has never won titles resting on sentiment. Your average manager may have treated berbatov better and stuck with him but could have come out empty handed at the end of the season. This is what made SAF who he was, he made decisions that were right for the TEAM and the CLUB even if it meant giving a certain player the cold shoulder.
kolumbieca777 i was referring to the season after where he got dropped for most games and people complained as he was the leading scorer the season before.
mufcbarlow900 He was dropped for that season yes - and they didn't win the league that season. So how was him being dropped justified? Welbeck will never get as many assists or goals for Man Utd as Berbatov did / would have.
The third goal here shows exactly what was great about Berbatov; not the finish but the passing before. He had great vision and technique. First the little flick to Evra, then the great pass to find Nani in space. We could do with a striker with those skills right now.
Well actually, I guess not. I think we need more urgency in our play, while we are pretty covered in the technical department. We also have Mata, so no fears.
David Weller Wait, Falcao is a warrior. He is not as technical nor does he have the same passing quality than Berbatov. However, he will bring urgency, power and goals.
desfefe falcao is more of a finisher like rvp. Rooney and berbatov played similar finding space and then scoring goals. Don't get me wrong falcao and rvp are both great strikers they mostly rely more on assists and finish
I miss Berbatov. He was Amazing. Who cares if he was lazy? He scored goals and brilliant goals. He had his best season in 2010/2011 season. Could've scored more if he played more and started more in the second half. I think he would've have made Premier League record. He was getting hat tricks, braces and scored 5 against Blackburn.
Pully He had 20 goals in the league or so after the first half and won the golden boot on that. I don't understand why he was suddenly in the cold, we could've won the season with him on the second half. It's so annoying. Cerebral hemorrhage from Ferguson ...
Pagnah I think Fergie liked the Rooney and Hernandez link up in 2011. They were amazing. But I did feel sorry for him when he was snubbed in the CL final against Barca. That was cold from Fergie.
Mojo Khan Terrible in comparison. There was absolutely no reason to not let him play with his impressive goal scoring form. Cost us the title on goal difference most likely.
Pagnah Oh yh defiantly in that season. I was talking about the 2010 11 when he started getting dropped for Hernandez. But tge season we lost by goal difference I hated that Welbeck was prefered to Berbatov.
Nakke144 I thought it was for Hernandez ? I remember berba didn't even make the bench for the champions League. and then welbeck came into the picture and relegated hernandez to the bench ?
And what about his shameful removal from the Champions League final 2010-2011 because of that little shit Chicharito and his 8 offsides!? That was hilarious and very very sad.
Berbatov is a great technical player , he left United because he was a bench warmer. Sir Alex simply did not let him play enough and he did not fit the new club profile of gameplay. Well now that he is gone United is in bad shape. I wish best to Berba in his new team and for United to come back to their former state and start winning.
This video reminds me United fans need to support NANI and stop criticizing him so much...go out sing his name & remind him what he means to United. If this guys is fit he can be foolish so many times but without shadow of doubt he produces more than any other winger in United!! See Portugal select him despite a bad season with the club!
id like to agree with you but hes not the same anymore he don't try push at people just passes he used to try beat them 1v1 with skills when was last time you saw him do that in united kit Gone now anyways :3
Such an amazing player, top class technique, positioning, finishing and flair, he just knew where to be at all times to be able to score im still mad at sir Alex for benching him during the CL final and most of the season, he definetly deserved to play. He was so well rounded player, not only able to be constant danger in the 6 yard box but also able to do amazing and creative passes.
Aww yeah I remember this definitely this was the best game ever against Blackburn Rovers definitely and also a fantastic and also a awesome goal to remember aswell insure do missed him play for Manchester United definitely
The time when the question was not "Are we get something from that match?", but "Whit how we wins it?". About Berba... No much to say. One of the most talented players ever with the red shirt.
+Nikolay Donchev Dont speak bullshits .... He's not playing because BFS ( Bulgaria Football Union ). He stated it , when he gived interview for the things happend with SAF and United ....
He was so so so close to scoring 6 in this game, he had a bulleting header that was only JUST saved. If he would of scored 6, he'd of been the only man in 20 years of premier league history to score 6 goals in 1 match. But still an amazing performance, can't ever forget it =)
lol and now we're paying 300k per week for certain falcao. i was just dumbfounded when fergie screwed berbatov for no reason and let him go esp that ucl final against barca when he was not even on the bench. not to mention appointing moyes later. i miss those days where united had an identity.
+dantes peek "no reason"?? lol Berbatov didn't score at all in that UCL season, in fact he only scored in the PL and pretty much a quarter of his total goals that season were in 1 game (this 1). Even in other UCL seasons he never scored or played well in the knock-out rounds. He wasn't an important player for ManUtd and when you've spent 30m on a player you expect more than 1 goal against a top5 team in the PL in 4 seasons (a meaningless goal at that, 3-0 win and already 2-0 up he scored the 3rd in the 86th min against Chelsea who came 3rd that season, pity he couldn't score the following season when we were 1-2 down to the same team and this time it was a 2 horse race between them and us for the title and we would've won a record 4th PL title in a row had we avoided defeat in that game) also an important player shows up when given the chance in the cup semi's/finals, he was actually heavily responsible for ManUtd losing 2 FAcup semi-finals in 2009 & 2011 (we may well have gone on to win both but we definitely would've beaten Stoke in the final in 2011, at that point our record against them was 100% wins since they became a PL team, most were very comfortable wins.....as it is we still haven't lifted the trophy since 2004 somehow, he has a lot to do with Ferdinand, Vidic, VanDerSar, Evra, ParkJiSung etc...finishing their career without winning the FAcup and why Rooney, Carrick and others are still yet to win it....from 2005 to 2008 ManUtd had extremely bad luck in the competition and easily could've won 3 of them and won none, that's just bad luck but when the chance came again for these players to win it, Berbatov fucked it, as least twice).
a you fu..... kinding me. He was awarded golde boot in premiere league for scooring the most goals with teves i think, this was one of the bigest misteaks by furgie. watch more football!
dcvbhtrdf , did you really watch Berbatov at United? He created far more goals than he scored. He was the key to us winning the league in both 2009 and 2011 as he scored important goals in lots of 1- 0 victories. I also recall Berbatov scoring a 3 goals at Old Trafford against Liverpool in a 3-2 win so what is it you said about him scoring only 1 goal against top 5 teams in 4 years? Anyone who fails to see the contribution of Berbatov must be clueless about football. We lost the 2010 and 2012 league titles by 1 point and on goal difference respectively due to Fergie's British bias of favoring Welbeck over Berbatov.
+swinetrek Van Gaal is worse. He sent Van Persie, Javier Hernandez and Nani off. Those three scored more than 75% of the whole Manchester united team this season (Van Persie 10 goals, Nani 7 goals, Javier Hernandez 17 goals, total 34 goals. Manchester United 43 goals).
3rd goal was unreal. Started at the edge of his own box. Back flick to Evra, outside of the boot pass, cool finish. Did it even get goal of the month? Seemed to go under the radar at the time.
most of the time I think our fans are too blame, we drowned Nani, we drowned Anderson,,,now we are drowning Van Persie, Micheal Carrick, Valencia, Ashley Young this season is way better than last season but people are still finding simple faults on him, Thank God Welbeck went to Arsenal..
He almost even scored six the keeper blocked his last final header attempt. One of three players to ever score five goals in a single match in the Premier League. Berbatov has always been underrated. Such a talented and a clever player. I thought he is more skillful than Ronaldo. Showed more promise and consistency on the field. Easily one of the best signings for Man Utd. So much charisma, personality and influence on the pitch. Miss his legendary performances. Soccer is not the same without him. Amazing finisher, first touch, dribbling, technical abilities and athleticism. Perfect striker.
This is a nice example what smart player should be...not to run pointlessly but to position yourself and play every situation with the best possible option available from it
I am a World cup winner, I have won and scored in two Euro cup finals, I have come 3rd in the world in 2008 or something, I am the first ever player to score in 7 different comps... Now I can go on and on
Its amazing to think he did not even make the bench against barca in the champions league final, i never really questioned fergie's decisions but some of his player choices for that final were bad.
