Yes guys! Can Dan defeat former world number 1 table tennis player Dimitrij Ovtcharov who is using a pre-made bat? Who will win? Find out how Dan gets on!
That timeout was HILARIOUS!!!! Can you imagine Dima at the Olympics calls "timeout" and runs to train with his coach on the next table for 45 seconds. haha ohhhh man.
Hahaha that would be hilarious! Hey maybe this is something that you could propose to the WTT guys :) Players getting some practice in during the timeout! Funny enough, this timeout I think actually helped Dima in this instance hahaha... Although he would have still found a way to win 😉
Dear diary, today was game #14. Dima had to play with a chopstick. I only lost with 9:11. It's getting tighter! Similar result when he had to play the ball with the bat in his mouth. I'm considering letting him play blindfolded next time. What do you think? With love, your Dan.
I’ve been using Ovtcharov alc for months and I love it. However, after watching this video, I decided to switch to this amazing Butterfly Specialist pre-made racket as an upgrade!😙
After Dan realized that Dima was adapting fast, he employed the tactic of banging Diva's beloved racket on the table to cause stress on Diva but didn't work.😄
@@ravanpee1325 i actually think Dima was right though... Neu-Ulm had to pull back from Bundesliga due to Dusseldorf´s manager who is also head of the league board interfering. In my eyes there definitely is a conflict of interest, because Neu-Ulm would have been the strongest team on paper, now it´s still Dusseldorf. Everyone in germany would have liked for Harimoto & Moregardh to participate in the league and the matches getting exciting/tight, but the league board didn´t allow it because they both played a single game in another league in that same season. They could´ve suspended them for 2-3 games maybe, but they banned them from the entire season, which is outrageous imo. And by the time a formal objection would´ve come to a solution, half the season would´ve been over, so Neu-Ulm had no other way to go about this.
@@RambO5018The manager of Neu-Ulm admitted that he didn't care about the rule and just expected a fine. Also the top players didn't play in the league at all anyway, but just the Russian B-squad. Neu-Ulm knew exactly what they were doing, but were just arrogant because of the money. Also got a wildcard from the league anyway, because of money.
@@ravanpee1325 so? expecting a fine and still being able to play the playoffs was the rational thing for a club to do. Also if the players only wanted to join the club with this premise, i don´t really get why it´s necessary to ban them all season? If they have the team to back it up, why not buy in the league if it´s allowed and possible? Sure it´s not 'super sportsmanlike' but banning players from another club that would be a threat to your own club also really isn´t very sportmanlike.
I've been looking forward for this kind of content. Dan need to have special series on this, pro with premade vs Dan with pro setup. Gimme like guys to make this a reality.
That paddle costs $80, it is still a high-end paddle for most amateur players. I wonder how Dima would play with such a seriously amateur paddle for $7.... maybe in the next episode? :D Always nice to see an episode with Dima, he is very nice guy.
After hearing "butterfly" i was like "you have no chance" like dima said after the warmup. You should have bought him something from the convenience store for like 10$ but lets see :D Edit: okay closer than i expected. I thought he would just play forehand topspins all the time none the less.
@@evoo8214 thet definitely are not, look at what dimitrij did with his. Without any time to learn how to use it properly, he beat a semi-pro player of a very high caliber with seeming ease!
ideas for future Dan vs. Dima matches: Dima using frying pan Dima using left hand Dima in blindfold Dima playing while singing Ode to Joy Dima playing while drinking beer
Dan you needed a time out at 7-9. Go to the other court for some practice lol. Fun match to watch guys!! Knowing Dima’s competitiveness it doesn’t surprise me he would hit the ball back fast “by mistake” then wait for Dan to get the ball and call a time out 😁
I think it is interesting how simple of a game Dima plays against Dan with a very simple setup. Even before the time out he's pushing, blocking, and hitting. Of course hes great at it, but those are simplier shots than many. I need to learn from this.
My friend and I have been drilling for months using you know...nice blades and rubber, custom built equipment etc. We had these new guys show up at work with like 4 paddles for 30.00 or something. We tried to play with their paddles just for fun - LOLOL, impossible to counter any spins with the cheap rubbers.
We have this guy at the league, always talking to himself by his first name and congratulating himself every time he does a good shot. But great guy, its all about the attitude.
I think the Racket must be very bad. No disrespect to Dan, he has improved a lot and is a really good player but really dima was only pushing and smashing and not playing loops. He still won with his experience and talent but it seems it is pretty impossible to loop or spin the ball with this bat.
I would actually have thought it made less of a difference. Seems like he was really affected in his attacking shots. I wonder if that says something about the quality of the bat or just the fact he needs to get used to another type of response.
it is just a different rubber than he is used to, he needs to hit the ball in a different way If he trained for an hour or tso with that blade, he would probably be playing a similar proficiency to his regular bat. Of course, there would be a lack of spin and speed needed at the top level, but he would absolutely destroy any non world tour tournament with that racket.
What about giving him the cheapest "Ali Express" style bat? Those cannot make pretty much any spin, while the speed is abysmal. Pre made Butterfly is a spaceship in comparison to the worst thing a little money can buy.
Racquet is a really important part of the game. I say 50 50 along with technique. You can see that Dimas game with that premade is 10x worse than his usual game and that his adjusted all his strokes to smash..
Me: This is my 4th new rubber this month, this should be almost self-playing setup to destroy any1. Dima: Next time i will use pool slippers. Should be enough :)
haha my rubber is 4+ years old tenergy 05 still holding up I like some old trusty equipment. Maybe whan I change it it will feel like going from premade to timo boll + tenergy 05...except premade was 20years old 😀Its funny how some rubbers become completely slick with ZERO grip and some are just less grippy even after 20y
there should actually be a tournament with custom bats. battle of bats, players can customize their bats anyhow they want..... even if involves 'dirty tricks'. we've never had a bat tourney have we? there'd be business opportunities in this. and people coming up with clever ideas. i think it'd be interesting.
Dan, need to calm those nerves down, Dimitrij is still human you know...lol. You could have applied more pressure on Dimitrij. Nice set, Dimitrij adapted after each point and a little help from some coaching...lol
Why shouldn’t he? Time outs are a crucial part of competitive table tennis and if a free table is nearby I don’t know why practicing with your coach would be permitted, even in a ranked match. Also I think it was more for the laughs than actually getting any advantage in play as he didn’t start to attack on backspin after the “training“.
