It’s a shame that Dimitrov has only a couple of titles and not even a GS final for 15 years on the professional tour. Dimitrov’s backhand is WAY better than Federer’s. Dimitrov’s overhead smash is WAY better than Djokovic’s. But his lack of full dedication, consistency and unstable personal life during the years ate his chances to do something really big. In the last year he shows another level of determination and hopefully it’s not too late for him to achieve something bigger than ever in his career. Congratulations for his long-awaited title in Brisbane! Job well-done! Several months ago he choked miserably in the final in Paris against the barely surviving in the tournament and a bit shaky Djokovic, and he was rightfully very upset of his failure because he missed a great chance. This time Grigor has every right to celebrate a well-deserved triumph! Keep the good work! I am sure that Djokovic is a huge inspiration for him with the level of the longevity of his stunning career.

But the melbourne courts dont suit his style of play..he likes to on super fast hard courts like brisbane but aussie open has slowest hard courts ( except 2017-2018). Sinner , alacaraz , med, rafa etc hAve better chance...

​@@vikrambansal1375 He still reached the quarterfinals in 2014 and 2021. But I would not put Grigor as a favorite to win any grand slam. 3 out of 5 sets is very different than 2 out of 3 sets. I still think he can get a good result in a grand slam, but a Masters Series or ATP 250/500 title is more realistic for him.

Yes, he completely choked against Novak in Paris and missed a great opportunity. That’s why he was so upset and disappointed then.

To be honest, Djokovic was the better player and had more depth in his shots, placing the ball often directly in front of Dimitrov which gave him almost no time to react. This time he managed to hit these kind of balls cleaner. Of course he had too much unforced errors but it‘s normal playing against Novak.

The competition in the ATP has been monstrous. When Dimitrov was coming up the Big Four were firing on all cylinders. Now that he is in his 30s, new killers like Medvedev, Alcaraz, Sinner and Rune are coming up and there is still Djokovic going strong so honestly, there is nothing one can rightfully say to live down Dimitrov's efforts. Yes, in the past, he has been mentally not at his best but with competition this crazy, he has won his fair share.

Thrilled for him. He has all the shots. And that slice of his is so sweet. Looks hungry to get past 3rd - 4th rounds now. Is injury free. No one is going to look forward to meeting him. Playing for legacy now. One hell of a win. 🏆

he beat Alcaraz, Tsitsipas, now Rune, had great last year, so what he is over 30, this guy fittness is incredible and mental has improved; in AO if nothing strange happens easy qf or more and at least 4 more titles in this year@@heavybattle6650
