The fact that paire could have won first two sets and lost both of them yet didn't lose him composure is so astonishing. Probably a fiery character like kyrgios can motivate someone like paire to give his best
Them breaking each other in critical situations illustrates both of their issues... focus. They can be so good when they're dialed in, but often struggle to sustain the effort.
Absolutely, there is a massive gulf between the 2. Kyrgios was a generational talent with an inability to control his emotions, paire is a doofus with a backhand
Legend of Tennis l going to myself there and Enjoying not care what my opponent going to or my parents are going say at me or Marrying Catherine Ms Campbell as in my wife
It’s so strange paire going to his knees and celebrating at the end, like this meant so much to him. When i’ve mainly seen what he has become in the most recent years. Where i’ve seen someone not try or give a damn about playing like i’ve never seen, at this pro level by anyone in any sport ever.
@@henning_jasper I just meant that if he didn't have the mental toughness of a goat cheese, he would probably have done good stuff. But anyway things are what they are :)
Tsonga, Monfils and Mahut have better touch than Paire. Paire can sometimes hit wicked dropshots but he can't do that on a regular basis. Too many errors.
@@TheseHoesAreLoyalnot Monfils, no sir, brick hands and Paires touch and net game are absolutely rock solid. He's an unbelievable doubles player that never plays because he's worried he will let his partner down.
Nick was as good at 19 as he ever was. His game never progressed and his maturity never increased. Such a underachieving. Paire also should have made more noise in his career. Both have extreme talant.
idk about that. Kyrgios didn't commit to his career and progression as much as most pros that's for sure, but 2022 was one of his best year, and he himself said in a podcast it was his best year. Maybe at 19 he was more fit and better cardio but some shots improved imo not even mentioning his experience. As for maturity, I think people are misunderstanding the character. Kyrgios is just far from your traditional pro. Sometimes it's maturity that pushes you to take time off the tour because you aren't doing well. I think he's a dude that had and still has many obstacles to tackle, whether it's bad habits, addictions, mental issues. He's the type of guy that doesn't play by the rules, that won't ever fit the criteria that fans ask for (if that's even possible) and we should just hope for the best, appreciate when he's playing and rethink our expectations. As for Paire, I think he shares some traits with Kyrgios, but I can't say he's had an amazing year recently... Also I don't think Paire is as smart tennis wise as Kyrgios, when you see him still playing with a dysfunctional forehand, serving worse than he used too, barely playing his matches like, why do you even step on court.
Aight know it all .., he made a grand slam final and won grand slam doubles. Beat Fed and Nadal. Also beat the GOAT Nole. I bet in the history of ya genius family, NO ONE will achieve that.
Always say it a shame Nick couldn't get his head in the right place, he could have bee the best Aussie tennis player since Hewitt, Rafter, Cash, probably better than all of them, but bad management and bad mental state, ruined his chances.
That's why the mens tennis is way better. So much more entertaining! If this was the women's, Paire would have lost the match in two sets. It would have been so boring. But instead it turned into a proper battle!
Can we please stop calling wankers "strong characters"? Elena Rybakina for example, who's polite and kind, has a much stronger character than these two fragile man-children. Their behaviour is aptly described in the title. Great shotmaking, though.
Paire is not the same player today. Terrible temper, unsportsmanlike conduct, and he gives up too easily. now ranked 123 in the world, with a career earning of 10 million USD, he is not nearly as hungry
Living in Australia for past 5 years, I am not surprised by the behavior of Kyrgios. I don't know the exact reason but people in Australia are extremely rude for no reason. Behavior comes at a great cost here....😢😢
It's not fair to surmise that an entire country of people are rude. In fact I'd argue your statement is quite hypocritical to make, when you think about it.
The technique changed but it's very effective actually. Last year when he did amazing, I don't remember anybody really able to exposing his backhand, it's compact and consistent.
@@MichaelScott261 no indeed but striking through it isn't always necessary. It's usually a good thing to generate power but if a player with perfect timing like Kyrgios is super consistent with a compact backhand he shouldn't change it. What works for most people doesn't work for everybody, look at Daniil.
@jonas8993 Danil does follow through on the backhand. It's a heavy ball. Kyrgios, a lot of the time, pushes it (Consistently, but not a match winning shot).
Great match, and they’re both very well-behaved, which is not what I originally came to see 😄 Kyrgios… eventually a stupendous talent nullified by mostly being a dick
Bravo 🎉
