Wow that is amazing. Never heard them before. How could i have missed this band. Love the live orchestra and choir in this concert. Have to see more of them. Thank you for this double reaction.
Ah, my fellow countrymen! This show was in the capitol of Norway with The Norwegian Radio Orchestra. It was amazing witnessing this live. Have you heard of Orbit Culture Thomas? If not, check out their song Open Eye, you'll love it!
Omg they actually have an orchestra playing this live with them hahaha holy fuck that's on another level. This is the song that plays as our overlord conquers ships break through the stratosphere.
I saw them at a metal festival in Australia. They had such presence. It was like a bubble of this energy mainly emanating from the lead singer. Kind of unnerving and sacred.
Progenies of the great apocalypse has to be my favorite Dimmu Borgir's song, it's so good. Btw, if you haven't heard Fleshgod Apocalypse, try Epilogue. SepticFlesh is another good band.
What an awesome choice Thomas. Really good. Yes, a little mind blowing 😂😂😂😂 I tend to like the pausing and talking about what your are thinking, but that's just me.
Thanks mate! Appreciate your feedback. I'm a little on the fence myself. Pausing is good since I have memory like a colander and forget my thoughts by the end haha
@@ThomFoolery1 That's why I think pausing when you have something to say is good. It also feels like a conversation other than just listening to music.
well those songs were fantastic, i watched your mourning palace vid a few days ago (never heard the band before) and i love it. and i agree, fantastic mixing on these videos.
Hey Thomas! First of all great reaction to this double feature. I really like the way you changed things up! This way we can all experience the whole thing together and see the highlights again afterwards. Really like it like that! I can imagine however it's a lot more work from your part though, but either way keep it up! And about Dimmu, yeah I really love his 'zombie' voice. The man surely must be one of the undead I'm telling you 😉😄 But again, great analysis Thomas! Cheers 🎼🎶🔊🤘
I don't understand people that whine about stopping the video... if they want to hear the full song go to the original video. I'm here for your comments on the parts when and where they happens. So please, make you're comments where its needed. It's a reaction video ffs.
Hey dude, Creepy✅, Spooky✅, Scary✅ and that’s just the choir 🤣 frikken loved your reaction man, this band are deffo on my bucket list. Does anyone know what happened to the trombone player from the Mourning Palace DVD, I miss him 🤣🤘❤️🇬🇧
Loved your review of these two epic songs. By the way, the BEST version of Progenies of the Great Apocalypse was live at Ozzfest, their former bass guitarist Vortex had the voice of an angel and easily replaces the entire orchestra. Extraordinary band, and this is how you use a choir and orchestra. You can hear every instrument. Unlike a few other bands where their "symphonic" elements are mixed lower than the band. This is perfection. Lights and visuals are amazing too. ... I'm also going to ask you to pause, or speak during the songs. I'm here for real time observations from you. If I want to listen to the band uninterrupted I'll support the band and watch it on their official channels. View count is as important for them to maintain monitisation as every other RU-vidr. So speak. You have great insight and observations, leaving it until the end will mean that you miss things, or forget things. The other part is the definition of fair use is transformative, you have to do something with the original clip to justify its use. Otherwise it's radio. And radio pays royalties. Staying within fair use will keep your channel up. I actually enjoy it when people rewind and replay parts, its a great way to catch things from a different perspective and definitely fits the transformative tag. And you only really need 2 or three stops and you have enough to appeal if you do get an auto copyright notice. Cheers!
Thanks for your feedback! Really appreciate it. I see pros and cons to both but it does feel more natural of me to pause as I go. In terms of royalties, it actually doesn't make a difference. Even using a few seconds of this clip, all ads and monetisation goes to Dimmu Borgir (or their record label). But definitely using full clips increases the chances of it being blocked entirely. Luckily haven't had any Strikes or major drama yet haha
Here is the second prod of this live, remade for the DVD. The whole post prod is way more advanced than in the Norvegian TV recorded show (maybe we may find this one in YT nowaday). For my part I think it's a little bit too mutch, thinking about the whole mix and multitrack voices, but you know... this is how Shagrath likes it !
Vortex is amazing. But sorry this is legendary. But it does say alot of the quality of Vortex being able to carry that part nearly as well. (or in your opinion better.)
Hi Thomas ! Great reaction video! Just a tiny little correction: The Wacken version of the "Forces of the Northern Night" is actually 1 year newer than the performance in Oslo. May 28th 2011 in Oslo vs August 3rd 2012 at Wacken. And the name of the female vocalist is Agnete Kjølsrud. Best wishes from Norway !
@@ThomFoolery1 If I don't remember wrong, (if I do , somone will nodoubt correct me! ;) ) , it was our National Broadcasting Company who did the recordings of this consert in Oslo. They had like 25 cameras and LOTS of people on this production. It's soon 10 years ago allready !!
Bit late to this, but in Norway "normal" people did hear that track. It was on the top 10 list on "VG lista" and played on the radio when I was in high school.
Is every single person sponsored by Audio Technica nowadays? I had these 5 years ago and they were good sound for the price back then. But nowadays, you can add 50-100 bucks and the quality of sound is beyond comparison..
Whenever I see Dimmu these days, I can't help but miss Vortex' powerful and angelic voice. No other singers they used, not even a whole fuckin choir and orchestra, comes even remotely close to replacing his voice. "Progenies" sounds so wrong and weak with the choir singing his part.
@@ThomFoolery1 yes sir! The Insight and the Catharsis, Kings of Carnival Creation, In Deaths Embrace, Mourning Palace, The Promised Future Aeons, Progenies of the Great Apocalypse.
