These old days are gone forever. Lucky are those who remember how life felt back then. The atmosphere was different. Almost like an entirely different life.
Happens all the time, but for us who lived those years nothing will ever replace that part of our life, school, friends, girls and Dimmu Borgir. Feels like forever, 20 fucking years.
This is how much I FUCKING LOVE BLACK METAL ESPECIALLY SYMPHONIC BLACK METAL AS WELL AS TRADITIONAL! Dimmu Borgir is fucking awesome! Shagraths vocals are as haunting as wicked!
Aaah, those were the days... When Shagrath actually screamed and headbanged.. Nowadays its more talking the lyrics with growl and headbanging max 3 bangs in a show..
Yea they changed their sound pretty quick. Even this material at the time was a big shift in sound from the for all tid and stormblast era. That was a much different sound than enthrone darkness triumphant. They went hi fi production and faster with that album. But they changed even more with the puritanical misanthropia album. Much more symphonic shagrath changed to his lizard style vocals. I basically stopped listening to their new material after that. This is them at their peak imo.
Maldita sea... Mustis era el alma de Dimmu Borgir.
so much energy, one of the best albums and one of their best songs. Even their sound has change, they still are amazing \m/. The best symphonic metal band
Saw them in Atlanta February 2001 with cryptopsy and krisiun. They opened with this one. This was with Simen on bass. I’ll be 40 this year. This shit still hits like the first time. Definitely one of their best
Graat lineup, but it seems Nagash never really wanted to be there, not being in charge. Used Dimmu Borgir as a springboard to get The Kovenant a deal w. Nuclear Blast, which he got, then split to focus on it instead. Best Dimmu Borgir-lineup was for the 'Spiritual Black Dimensions' tour in 1999, w. Shagrath, Silenoz, Mustis and w. Nicholas Barker replacing Tjodalv, ICS Vortex on bass and clean vocals and of course the great Astennu still in lead guitars.
In fact we can see on shows with bass and back vocals he really enjoyed Dimmu besides he always gave dimmu's interviews, in my opinion he just had more to give musically with the kovenant, and i also liked his work with Troll which was released before he joined Dimmu
Yeah i remember Napster and my dial up connection. I remember downloading a Dissection song Unhollowed from Storm of the lights bane it took forever. Lol 6th
