@p0m1nat0r I think he is awesome live. He sounds different though but thats because there is no vocal layering. Slightly different phrasing. I grew to like the live version more because of Vortex.
Believe it or not..I sat at my tent on Wacken last week with Nick Barker and King.. My friend was guestlisted by Opeth and hooked up with Gorgoroth :) Insane guys. Didn;t know Gaal was gay..
@jonnyjumpsalot rappers and RnB singers use auto-tune effect (among others) to correct their pitch since they usually are such bad singers. Vortex dont use any effects to correct the pitch (as far as i know) only a shitload of reverb and stuff to make his voice thicker and more "heavenly".
i think that most of his growls are treu but he's also using some effects. in an older video (i think it was one of w:o:a 2001 but i'm not really sure) of practicing before a concert you see that shagrath is steping on a foot pedal before the voice changes...
Yea, I'm kind of grasping at straws but the riff there reminds me of Slayer's "Ghosts of War". Dont hear the riff in the studio version, so it caught my ear.
hmmm. I never really thought much of Dimmu Borgir(always thought they were a really typical satanic for shock black metal band) but they do perform live pretty damn well
nicolas barker was their drummer for a couple of albums, but he moved to a different band, not really sure what hes doing these days =/ but thats ok, cuz he cheats with triggers
