Thank you for your very helpful video. It made the cleaning so clear and sorted out a problem I had with replacing a part! Much clearer than the manual.

I've had the 'Oakhurst' for some years, The first thing to fail was the transducer (smoke maker) These were over £50, before too long I was on the third. The fan followed, pushing £30 from Dimplex (Dimplex seemed to have the spares market nailed pretty tight. The fans are the cheapest horrible little units made of the lowest grade plastic, as is the orange deflector tray, which quite literally disintegrated into crumbs and powder. £50 odd quid! All these replacements were followed by an all too brief period of the fire functioning until the next item failed. I have even replaced the entire PCB. Dimplex will come to your property however they are in the North, and I'm on the South coast! They charge!! So your on your own. I'm now searching for a sump because mine is fragmenting around the rim allowing water to drip on the PCB! The flame effect is very good, it's a shame a bunch of thieves like Dimplex have the patent. There are videos of home made fires which are designed on the same principle, it's straightforward if you're handy or have an enterprising mate. Look at reviews on the net, you'll find many like me.

I’ve JUST set mine up, watching your video as I did it, so THANK GOODNESS for you! However, I’m sitting in front of it now, and not only can I hear the fan heater (heat mode on) but also a dripping/gurgling water sound….? Surely that’s not meant to be the case? I only filled the reservoir approx 3/4 full when I put it in..could that be the problem? Also, REALLY annoyingly, no remote control came in the box. Please tell me I don’t have to buy that separately? I’m desperate to have this working perfectly!
@LivinganOrganisedLife
@LivinganOrganisedLife Год назад
Hi Kirsti, when you set up the fire the water will gurgle down initially from the orange water vessel into the lower tank. It will then gurgle for a few seconds about every hour or so when the lower tank tops up. I don’t really notice it now. Yes there should be a remote in the box. Have a careful look in all the packaging as it’s really tiny and you could miss it. If you don’t have it then get in touch with Dimplex as they should send you one for free. Good luck!!

@LivinganOrganisedLife
@LivinganOrganisedLife Год назад
Hi Laura, no there isn’t a crackling sound, that would be a nice feature! I believe the Sunningdale model has a crackling sound but it’s not an Optimyst. I saw a lovely candle the other day with a crackling wick called Fireside by Woodwick which might be an option to recreate the sound and smell of a real fire. The water tank lasts for about 8 hours for me so usually a couple of evenings 😊

Any help appreciated. Thankyou Sue
@LivinganOrganisedLife
@LivinganOrganisedLife 3 месяца назад
Hi Sue, I’m don’t know why your flames are so high. It’s usually better to start them at F1 and gradually turn them up. For the steaming up you could try anti fog glasses wipes or wiping the glass with neat washing up liquid (think swimming goggles). You can also leave the door ajar for a few minutes. As there’s a difference in temperature, also try switching the heater on for a few minutes when you first switch the fire on to help warm it up. Please can you let me know how you get on?
