I just moved into a disability housing home and these were newly fitted. I've never used economy 7/ storage heaters and dread if I'm using them incorrectly. I found the settings really confusing and time consuming. Going through 6 heaters settings for every day and the 4 times per day. I'm hating this system but there's no other option. I have them set all day but minimum hours each period. I don't know if they automatically heat up at night off peak or do i need to do this myself somehow. Dimplex electrician that fitted them was an arsey idiot. Called him out twice telling him they not providing heat. He hits boost saying "they're fine,i suggest you read instructions". I noticed spurs red lights weren't on & idiot hadn't switched fuse box on. I didn't realise they ran off seperate box. Rang him with a few "suggestions" of my own.

I have an heating upgrade and I love these heaters. I no longer have damp in my home and I can actually feel the heat then I could from the old storage heaters.

I have the Quantum heaters installed and, after turning down the heat and putting them on 'out all day' (even though I'm disabled and home all day) I still need to bring the bill down A LOT. Have now signed up to a better tariff but need to change the O/P times to fit the tariff. Can't seem to do this as when I try it just flips to the next screen. Any help out there?

These things have saved me fortunes compared to my older heaters, I really don't understand why people are having so many problems with them? They are so easy to program and once they are programmed you barely need to touch them, they also come with a manual which is very easy to understand or if not you can easily download it! RTFM people it's not rocket science!

I'd rather put in my hairdryer to warm up my room than these useless storage heaters.

Why when I put my heater at 21, when I get up in the morning it has gone up to 26, this has only happened a couple of times but it was not particularly cold last night, this morning it is like a sauna in my room,. Found there number but no one there.

04/02/2022. I had 4 of these fitted last year as part of a grant, in March 2020 just before lockdown, after having my solid walled cottage insulated internally. ( Just glad I didn't have to buy them) I've had properties with storage heaters in the past, & been quite happy with the cost, but with these, I can't control the "input" at night, as was possible with older models. Each heater is using between 9 & 12 Kw each night ! that's an average of 40 kw a day, at 13p per unit ( my current night rate) that's over £5 a day...£35 a week £140 a month (minimum) ( My total electricity bill for December was nearly £200!!! I USED to pay £60 a month on average over the year... I can't afford to have them on at that rate. I'm wondering whether there is a way to control the input by lowering the temperature requirement. I've gone into advanced settings, but can't see an option for this. ( I run them on out all day mode)

Storage heaters only make sense if you can get an economy 7 tariff. Why are so many suppliers removing this option? Last time I looked SSE was one of them.

I have two brand new Sunhouse ones, they look great, they cost a fortune to fit, operate correctly, charge up and the timers works fine BUT THEY SIMPLY DO NOT KEEP THE ROOM WARM. The large one I have is over specified for the room, there are no drafts, it's the biggest one and yet THE ROOM IS COLD. and by cold I mean I am constantly monitoring with a digital thermometer, I can see what is happening by 1/10 of a degree, when the heater comes on the area around it slowly gets slightly warm and then does not get any warmer, a few degrees max (takes 2 hours to have any effect) and never to the minimum 21c thermostat setting. These things operate very slowly, only work in a room that is already warm, they do not heat rooms up and keep them warm in the same way that water filled gas radiators do.

Mine costs a fortune to run. I’ve had to turn most of them off as it had an annual forecast of £4999 electric cost. It is unsustainable. I’m a pensioner so am always feeling the cold.

Took me ages to figure out the timer, even called Dimplex for help and was put on hold then told someone would call me back and they never did. Thankfully I've got good neighbours who helped me.....

My landlord installed these heaters for me last year and I ran 4 Dymanic Quantum Heaters on "Home all Day" setting. I also switched my provider to ensure that I would get the best possible deal for my electricity (I'm all electric). The electrician told me these were state of the art and should get me around a 20% saving. I paid £134.50 by D/D each month and by 25th of June 2020 my electricity was £1278.00 (yes that's correct) in arrears. IN ARREARS! The total bill came to £2488.50. These heaters were replacing ancient, old Dimplex XL heaters and I went from 5 of these down to 4 of the Quantums. I can here in the hope that I'd see something that would convince me to fre these things up again this year as I cannot afford a similar bill for 2020/2021. Can anybody advise?

The only thing I can suggest is to buy oil filled radiators. They should cut the cost by half. 🙏 I also had these installed by my landlord. They don't even best well. I feel your pain.

@@zoomzoom7444 Thanks for that, I've been down the oil filled rad route and they are just as expensive for me. I've had my meter bench checked and replaced twice due to my horrendous bills but no matter what I try it costs a fortune. I'm now using only two heaters and the rest of the house is at a steady 4 degrees (that's the same temp as the average fridge).

@M S M • Sorry to see you're having difficulties with this new Quantum Heating system. This is new to me now, since 6th January 2022. So far, like you these heaters are complicated to control, and I believe it's consuming energy in an uneconomical way. eg. the fans, and time settings when it's colder. SSE changed my meter from a Superdeal 3 rate meter. With two supply lines for 3 readings. Day, night and stored energy. It provided the pm boost every day. 2 - 4 pm. A single rate meter has been installed for Economy 7. Giving just the two readings. Day rate and night. Next, this meter is being upgraded to the required smart meter. The Government requirement. I'm told they can be programmed to the Economy 7 setting. Especially for these storage heaters. The meter will be Version 2. I'm new to all this programming for usage. It's really awful that you are being overcharged. Perhaps you can get help from Citizens Advice Bureau. If Housing Association, they have support staff I'm told. Hope you can resolve this ridiculous scheme and get your money back. Best Wishes to you.

Hi. I don't fully understand the SP range settings. If the low SP setting is always set low will that reduce the amount of stored heat when the main control dial is still set high over night? I ask because some mornings the heater is full of warmth, and other mornings very little heat is stored. In both cases the air temperature is very cold. Thanks.
@dimplexinfo
@dimplexinfo 6 лет назад
Good afternoon ,The SP range is the Set Point range ie the limits at which the thermostat will operate. So 10-30deg , 7 -35deg or whatever the end user may wish to choose. The lower end of the will not affect the amount of charge that the heater will take as we normally assume the ambient in this country within the property will be greater. Assuming this is a QM the charge taken will be dictated by the calculation the heater does at midnight. If there is insufficient heat then the input should be increased accordingly. Hope this information is helpful, Regards Carol

Complex (like the starship Enterprise controls) and very noisy. Ticking noises can go on for 2-3 hours. We paid £1200 and have just told them to remove the crap. We replaced a silent Dimplex as it started clicking and we couldn’t get a replacement part. The new ‘improved’ Quantam was noisy. Avoid.

These heaters are noisy....!!! Hot at night when I don't need it and not much heat during the day. Timer is complicated to set, needed a neighbour to help me and he got confused even though he's got the same heater. After reading several other posts I'm dreading my next electric bill...what is going on...??? Unfortunately these were installed by a housing association so I'm stuck with them...!! I'd not recommend this heater and am thinking of purchasing a small electric plug in heater to save money and heat up my flat.....
