He had a lot of natural charisma and I believe that he was very underrated as a quality fighter Besides defeating Floyd he beat some real good fighters and had solid skills
Also as a Swedish guy something else that is impressive is his dialect since he have a thick Gothenburg accent that doesn't shine through at all while singing.
Very interesting. Ingemar, the hammer of Thor. Short term champ. Not a bad voice. Better than most rappers. Ingemar had a 3 fight series with Floyd Patterson and won once.
I'm reading floyd patterson's auto-biography & wanted to hear ingemar speak, whilst this isn't a boxing interview it's a pleasant detour & a thoroughly enjoyable video.
They became friends after Ingemar gave him a contract worth 150.000 $ in exchange for fighting 4 matches in Sweden. The year after his second loss to Mohammad Ali.
great voice, I think he would have done well in movies. Recently I've been watching some of his fights and he had tremendous one punch power. There's an interview out there from Patterson where he said no one ever hit him that hard, not even Liston, and his punches were "different"
The slow, awkward and kinda clumsy start doesn't help much...at all... but it picks up from there and in the bargain, Mr. Johansson reveals that he's no slouch at the microphone. A fun moment.
Dinah Shore is one of my favorite singers, and I enjoy watching her live performances on RU-vid. However, Ingemar Johansson really butchered this Alice Babs recording. Floyd Mayweather is not only a better boxer, but a better singer than was Ingemar.
