what is happening where the youtube algorithm buries the most impressive/widest tone range of dingwall review? i truly don't understand. great work here, but a shame i had to find it on page 3 of review for the bass. every other review is all metal, so thanks for breaking that mold and showing versatility.
I know! I had been searching specifically for d-roc reviews and demos for the longest time and this never popped up. I search for Amos after watching his Spector pulse ii demo and this just popped up. So good.
I've watched this video about 10 times now. Man, your playing is just class. Like Kramer would say, "you got poise". This video has made me buy this bass. Thank you.
Awesome review. Not too much yapping, great explanation. Super tasty playing / grooves 🤩👌 The p/up configuration on screen is a great touch, and the playing examples of different styles was spot on. Also, Thank You for not slamming a heap of distortion on top. It’s nice to hear what the actual Bass sounds like! And the video looks slick too. Excellent presentation! 5 star video! Nice work…. Makes me want to go and get one of these….😎🤘
@@davidmiller6076 the bongo's sound comes from it's preamp, so another 18v pre in front of this and you get damn close to the tone... With better string to string tension and playability. And I do love a bongo for what it's good at
Fantastic playing Amos, the easy-to-follow graphic aids really set your channel apart. I'm surprised how much that middle pickup solo sounds like a P bass, and I'm getting slight Stingray vibes on the rear pickups. How would you compare this bass to the NG-2(3)? Edit: Yeah you can tell I commented before getting to the 6:00 mark on your video!
Thanks Brett! I noticed the same things. The rear two together ended up being my favorite. And agreed about the P bass impersonation! Surprisingly close.
Sure. Mainly I use the Noble bass pre, snd then some compression from Universal Audio plug-ins (LA-2A, 1176). Since it is passive, I feel like you should feel free to cook it pretty good with gain and EQ.
@@AmosHeller Thanks! I've tried Neural DSP Darkglass and Amplitube VSTs with some compression in Logic but could definitely add more gain. I haven't even touched EQ yet. Will do some more experimenting---thanks again!
@@wantonitis01 I get it my friend. It can be confusing. Think ahead to what you’re going for-add effects for a reason. Watch your levels, and as far as EQ, try cutting frequencies you don’t want before boosting the ones you do. Good luck!
Thanks! It’s a tune I wrote for this video called “catalyst”. Here’s the performance by itself: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mn-w_6oe_7c.html
