Such a great space! As a fellow Airbnb owner, I have one suggestion for the dining table - paint the base white, but leave the top wood. Guests are hard on surfaces and I'm worried your paint will chip, be stained, or become scuffed (just from my personal experience). Love following along with the transformation!

Thanks Allyson, and that was my original idea for the table too! Unfortunately though, the top has this woven material and a ton of little nooks and crannies that make it impossible to completely remove the dark stain. I'm going to go with a naturally aged finish (and protect it really really well) so that hopefully future dents & dings will blend in :)

Do you plan to recover the chairs? I am assuming not, and if not, do you expect any upkeep problems with vacation renters and pink velvet? Thanks.
@JennaSue

Nope, velvet actually seems to be much more durable than fabric furniture!

Jenna can't wait to see that bedroom with that fan that I think is too much. I am sure, (kinda) that I will be proven wrong.
@nadinecius8747
@nadinecius8747 5 лет назад
I think your hesitation on the fan is that we all have seen similar fans before not used with the right settings or décor(Tropical gone wrong). Jenna Sue's design is tropical done right so the fan will look great in the room.

@@nadinecius8747 No I get the motif and style. I just envision it to be too heavy, attract too much attention to itself and obtrusive. Now without a doubt Jenna knows what she is doing. So time will tell. Remember the 70's and 80's when ceiling fans first became a thing? Everybody got those dark extremely ornate Victorian fans, the ones with eight 100 watt light bulbs or more, this was despite the style of the room or scale? They dominated the room and pulled the ceiling down. And I realize that things look far different in real life than they do in fotos. I could be prejudiced and traumatized by those. I have always gone with a white fan, and very minimal design against a white ceiling. Still since it moves and their location, they still can be obtrusive. We will see. Please note that I would not be critical if Jenna if I weren't so respectful/admiring of her.

I love your design, however it seems such a shame to paint the table as it has such gorgeous wood!🍍

Yes but in this case, she is smart to do it. It will lighten it up tremendously. I would be tempted to "Pickle" it, and that would be a more durable finish, but she doesn't have that kind of time. She could always strip it down the road. Jenna use oil based paint, for durability. Rustoleum is the only one I can find, in a "satin", which still is very shiny, it is like a latex high gloss. Gloss would be blinding. PS Tampa here too.
@JennaSue
@JennaSue 5 лет назад
Agreed! I'll be using specialty furniture paint with (extra coats of) a matte varnish to seal. Pickling/whitewashed would be a cool look, but I can't sand or strip the existing varnish off all those little details in the pineapple! So paint it is :)

@@JennaSue JENNA! Funny you should say that. I used oil based Rustoleum "satin" and OMG it is shiny! It is like a High gloss latex or even shinier. That is the lowest sheen they sell. I want to put a matte finish over that to take out the shine and have no idea of what to use. I am thinking polybased varathane/antique (matte), the oil based seems to go yellow. Maybe you can help me? I got cobalt but tinted it to a navy and want to put in on cabinet lowers, but I think you would agree, way too shiny. Then I am painting 2 rooms of french provincial furniture all satin white, because this is good furniture "Brohill" but has all that stupid "gold" detailing and it really doen't all match. Pray tell which "varnish"? Thanks in advance, I know you will help me! On that furniture I am puttting like a grey glaze very slight aged thing over the white, to enhance the carvings.

@@user-ws7ob9rn2x You will still like it after she paints it. She can't use it as is, looks bad with the floor now. She knows what she's doing.

Jenna is this an ad for the frame people? Really felt like it. If it was it needs to go in title so we have option of not watching. If it wasn't, ... A tad too much talking about the company. Pretty sure it was an ad though. Love your vids, please don't go sponsor crazy 😘
@JennaSue
@JennaSue 5 лет назад
Hi Julie, they sponsored the frames but this video was to share the dining room design plan and our progress so far. That includes how I chose the frames and tips for saving on framing costs, which I believe to be helpful to others. I hope you can understand that these projects would not even be possible without sponsors :)
@rockshot100
@rockshot100 5 лет назад
@@JennaSue Custom framing is EXPENSIVE! This is an alternative that I might be able to afford. I love many of the styles as you need different ones for different rooms. So you were sponsored. You obviously believe in the product. Plus you took it a step forward and used what was available to create these huge wall pieces. Most people would not have thought of that. I love them.

Jenna Sue I know. It's just I've seen so many lovely youtubers sell out and it's most disheartening. I like watching you guys and selfishly I don't want you to go that way. Think you're doing great. All the best from the uk x
