Another great job my friend and thanks for the advice on the colour choice. I really like using the Hycote brand. Think I'm going to go with a hat pin or pop rivet to create a chromed aerial to match up with my re-production SPV. I'll keep ya posted Mr.D......as always with warm regards PJ;)
Awesome job I'm just surprised ( as far as I noticed) no body has brought it to your attention the cogs are not a noise device it's a flywheel to make it a push and go car
Great to see that you're still posting videos while nearly everyone has shut up shop for Christmas. I think you'll gain some extra subscribers by keeping momentum throughout the holiday period. That colour is spot on for this. Really like this video.
Love this restoration Martin well done buddy regarding the tyres you mentioned I use green line wheels they have different ranges and styles and are around £7 for 5 sets with axles so maybe they can help you out or even look into 3D printing them maybe?? I hope this helps again nice job
Hi Martin, looks great. This one is difficult to match the paint. I colour matched mine to my neighbours flame red Renault which is a very good match to the original model. Can't find it in an aerosol though so I had to use touch up paint through an airbrush with thinners. Always loved the Gerry Anderson themed models....looking forward to the next one. Merry Christmas and all the best for 2020.
Thanks derrick, how did the touch up paint spray through your airbrush, and what thinner did you use and what ratio of thinner to paint ? All the best.
@@martindaredare Hi Martin....sorry I never got back to you...used a 1 to 1 radio of Isopropyl alcohol and paint...took a couple of attempts before I was happy with the mix because it seemed to make a marble effect in the bowl of the airbrush but I test sprayed a couple of times. I wasn't sure it was mixing properly but itsprayed ok so I took a risk and sprayed the model and it looks great.
My favorite Dinky when it was new. Until I got an SPV! Nice paintjob. The "soundbox" is missing from your SPC. The "engine" spinner made only a little noise, but it was amplified inside a plastic sound box mounted on top of the gear box. See it here: dinkytvspace.com/dinky-103-spectrum-patrol-car/
Thanks Dave I appreciate that.i have been and had a look at your site and its very interesting and I will be popping back i have the star ship enterprise stripped down awaiting clean up an paint ,so it was interesting on your site the mention of the engines tilted back slightly and to heavy for the plastic arms . The video shbe out in a couple of weeks ,have a look see what you think Thanks again
Nice Job! as a newbie looking to restore one or two of my own very old dinky's can i ask what the white fluid was you dunked the windscreen piece into...?
Hi what a lot of people use is pledge revite it ,its a floor polish but I have a similar product witch is called Klear and it's a floor polish not sure if you can still get this one but you can get the pledge version and it lasts a long time . I hope this helps. You might have to get either one on line if you're local supermarket doesn't stock it . All the best martin
After costic soda I do rinse in clean warter but I don't use the meths until I have wire brushed and all the work is done on the casting just before priming. Cheers Anthony 🍻
hi martin hope you did not over do yourself delivering all those presents. great colour match not easy to get right dinky used metallic paint almost like nail varnish mine came off in layers. you can get the tyres I think from steve flowers model supplies just ask for dinky captain scarlet set of 4 ribbed that should do it. have a great time with your family and be good if you cant be good be careful.regards ian hulley.
I have always liked the patrol car, the original ones were more a lighter shade of red, but paint is paint, I bought one this year, totally original but it was orange, does anyone know why it was orange, would be interested to find out, whatever the reason it will remain as it is. The TV21 Gerry Anderson series were stuff of legend, it's what Saturday mornings were for, all in glorious technicolour black and white, you don't get tele like that today. 😊.
Thanks very much it's really appreciated, yes corgi and dinky were both the same when it came to paint ,you can get 4 models of the same vehicle the same colour and you will find that thay are Al different shades ,one thing we tend to forget was that these were designed and manufactured as toys not as collection peices back then so they weren't to fussy about accuracy. In scale or paint . Yeah great TV back then , All the best Martin
