Wow! Fun fact about that creepy doll on the mantle: I live in the US and my portugese great-granny made me of those creepy dolls with "personalisations". Apparently, it was a very popular pattern that made its way across britain, europe, and USA as part of a campaign to encouraged girls/women to return to the home and take up handi-crafts after the war.
