Ocean Prime just opened their doors this week on the corner of Harmon and Las Vegas Blvd at the new 63 shopping center in Las Vegas. I'm going to be trying as much food as I can to provide you as much of an in-depth look at Las Vegas' newest steakhouse restaurant: Ocean Prime

I think I'd have to go with Prime. This is going to sound crazy, but their crispy potatoes with fresno chili dressing was like the best potato dish I've ever eaten in my life. Potatoes are an important side dish 😋 I'm from the Midwest so it's meat and potatoes all the way for me.

God some of these comments are brutal. Shin, you write back so eloquently I dont know how you do it. Let me tell you what I like about your channel. You come off as a genuine person who loves what he does. Nothing about your videos ever seems fake or forced. The places you go and the food you order is indulgent, delicious, and sometimes over the top. You are giving us a Vegas experience from our homes. You are what people want to see. I am so happy that I found a Vegas food vlogger who actually knows about food! I cannot tell you how much I appreciate that. The fact that you don't normally like truffle mac and cheese because it's made with truffle oil👍 and that you knew that your steak wouldn't need the Bearnaise (and you knew what Bearnaise was!) but you got some anyway just to try it. The food looked amazing except at 7:09 you can see they left some of the "vein" behind in the shrimp, and we all know what the vein actually is! 😱 Shin, I discovered your channel through my mom. She's going through pancreatic cancer and she can't eat much of anything, she has no appetite and can't really swallow much food. But she's super inspired by your wonderful feasts and I think your videos are giving her hope of eating great meals again. Thank you for your beautiful videos and your sweet, genuine personality. I actually made reservations for dinner early next month before catching this video. And I have to say it might be the best, most complete dining review I've ever watched on YT. Excellent contents Shin, many thanks. And I'm so glad you said you were taking home a lot of that food, otherwise you would have actually gone into a real food coma!!! But everything you ordered, from the cocktail, to the apps, to the entrée, and finally dessert looked outstanding. In fact, I think I'm going to plan a future lunch date there as well. I can see going all appetizers for lunch. Thanks again bro!!! Oh and I just subscribed as well.

Hey Shin! Thanks for another great video! You are my favorite Vegas food reviewer. I will add this to my go-to list. You must have thick skin for all these brutal comments. I don't know why some ppl can't just watch and enjoy it. I once had a teacher said, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all." Thank you very much! I'm happy to hear that. I'd say in general I do have a pretty thick skin. I have too much to do to let the words of strangers stop my day. It also helps that the RU-vid comments section is not a land of free speech, but ultimately the United States of Shin. I can ban anyone and nuke any comment if I so choose. No one has been that egregious yet, but knowing I hold the power lets me get through the comments easily lol. And to be fair, I'd say most of the comments are very encouraging, thankful and positive. I'm very happy to have cultivated a community of positive Vegas food enthusiasts here and want to continue to do so. Thanks for watching!

Yeah, I've been to a handful of steakhouses for the channel at this point at the pricing tiers are all about the same. I don't think anyone going to these steakhouses are looking for a deal or value. I did enjoy my meal a lot here though! Thanks for watching!

Glad you enjoyed! This is about standard pricing on the Las Vegas strip for steakhouses so I'd say right in line with everyone else. I went to the Ocean Prime in Phoenix and it phenominal! I had some of the same dishes that you had. It was my birthday and they went out of their way to make it very special, including decorating the table and giving me the warm butter cake with a candle complimentary. The food was beyond tasty and my server and the rest of the staff were wonderful! I will certainly go back for another special occasion as you can see, OP is a little pricey!

Wow wow wow! What a fine dining experience. You are so on point with your eloquent descriptions and reviews of each dish. It really makes us feel like we can taste the food with you. This is my kind of restaurant. I did hear a screaming baby in the background. I don’t think this is the kind of place your bring an infant as it ruins the dining experience for others. Especially if someone is celebrating a special occasion. I know it’s a tricky situation for management to deal with but, it boils down to one cry baby vs the entire restaurant and staff. We have had so many dining experiences ruined with screaming babies/kids. Keeping it real. Thank you so much for the video.

Yes Ocean Prime has risen very high on my list! I can't wait for it to cool down so I can dine on the patio! The crying baby is really tough. I know parents want to enjoy a nice night out also but it does feel bad as the rest of the restaurant has to endure the crying and screaming. I'm definitely still returning though. That looked AMAZING! I knew it was going to be good when I saw the black shirt with the limp bacon collar come out 🤣🤣The steak looked perfect, although I'm not a fan of a steak on a naked white plate. The lobster linguini made my mouth water, and I could almost taste the surf and turf. This was an awesome showcase of some amazing looking food, great job on the vid!. It does look a bit big and busy with people floating about for my liking, but it'll be a stop on my next Vegas trip for sure!

Dude Ed, that's so odd because I'm kind of the same way about a steak on a naked white plate but I thought I was weird lol. Glad to hear you think the same. The lobster linguini was seriously good and I'll never go to Ocean Prime and not get that surf and turf appetizer. It was very busy on this opening night but if you do go and the weather permits, I'd recommend dining on the patio. It's the best view from a steakhouse in Vegas. This looked amazing!!! I love truffles so that mac and cheese would be definitely something I'd order. The lobster linguine was filled with lobster. I'm surprised by how much was in that dish.

Thanks for making this video as I’ve been curious about this place. I’ll have to try it out when I’m in Vegas in January. The outdoor patio looks awesome. My favorite steakhouse is Hanks. Many of the staff have been there decades and it had a $40 million dollar makeover.(least that’s what the server said)

It may be chilly in January so there's some things to consider with the patio. You can always bundle up, and the view and vibe will be awesome. But your food will come out piping hot, and you have significantly less time to eat it before it cools. Now off camera, I wolf down food it's just one and the same with breath so I'd enjoy the patio fine during cold weather (just not hot. I can't eat sweaty lol). I will check out Hanks for sure! I was recently at the Green Valley Ranch for last week's video on the Lucky Penny and saw Hank's from the outside. Looks great and I'm planning on hitting it sometime middle of next year! Yeah, I've come to expect about this level of pricing when I go to make a steakhouse video. They're all expensive on the strip. Personally off camera, I think my meal here would still end up being like $150-$200. The surf and turf, a ribeye, spinach or whipped potato with a butter cake and Pepsi. I agree, it was quite loud inside and it only got progressively louder as the evening went on. To make the interior sound a non-issue, I would highly recommend you book the patio if the weather permits. I will likely only eat here again when the weather is cooler and I can eat looking over Harmon and Las Vegas Blvd. I can't think of a better view from a steakhouse in Vegas. Thanks for watching!

Whaaaaat a beautiful dinner.. EVERYTHING, gorgeous. Hats off to handsome Romario as well. 😊 I know what my order would be. Either the wedge or a caesar, then the bone in ribeye cooked medium rare. A cocktail to start and a heavy red with the main. A side, though unnecessary, would be the mushrooms. Nary a crumb of bread would be left behind either for it all works together. Oh, dessert, perhaps that carrot cake.❤🥕 Your butter cake did look divine. I really enjoyed this episode, perhaps the most. Yes, it is a chain steakhouse similar to Morton's or Ruth's Chris, though I believe I was told that Las Vegas is now their flagship location. It was beautiful in there, and the patio has to be one of the best in Vegas for a steakhouse. I'll have to try the crab cake next time, but the surf and turf was fantastic. Thanks for watching!

I was disappointed you didn’t get the baked potato! I recall from your “primarily prime rib” review your mentioning you usually get baked potato as side dish. I was curious to see what an almost 20 USD baked potato looks like lol. The bread portion was pretty small considering the prices they charge. The butter looked good

Yes totally, off camera, my orders are so predictable it's pathetic lol. When I go to make RU-vid videos, I really try to order stuff that I think I'll enjoy but are not my usual go to picks. One of the reasons I got into YouTubing was to try new things and so I'm really keeping with that as I film my content. I think the bread portion was made for just me. I have to imagine they serve more if there is more than one person at the table. But I would agree, if that's the standard serving for an entire table, that would seem off lol. Thanks for watching!

Now that I've been to several steakhouses on the strip, there's only really two points I take into consideration when I think about how highly a steakhouse ranks for me. I have yet to have a bad steak at any of these restaurants. They've always been incredible. Pricing wise, they all seem about the same. I've never had bad service at these locations either. So it comes down to the location, and what they offer on the menu in terms of what I enjoy eating. Firstly, I love the venue here. The patio has to be the best for a steakhouse in Vegas. Nothing else comes to mind that can compare and we're talking about Harmon and LV Blvd, the heart of the strip. The interior dining room was gorgeous as well. Regarding the menu: if I were to come here off camera, I would order the surf and turf appetizer, a ribeye, the spinach, and the butter cake. All together as a meal, I would really enjoy it from start to finish. Butter cake is my favorite dessert though I don't run across it too often in the steakhouses I've reviewed. So in comparison, Gordon Ramsay Steak is still one of my favorite steakhouses in Vegas. However, the location does not hold a candle to Ocean Prime now. And while the sticky toffee pudding is amazing, I would take a good butter cake about 3/5 times over it. Appetizer wise, I usually got the hamachi crudo, which is good, but very standard. I typically ordered the potato puree which is really good at GR Steak. But maybe it's just because I haven't had a subtle bacon creamed spinach before but I really liked it for my meal.

I've been doing RU-vid videos for about a year and a half now and I just had my first meal comped a few weeks ago at Guy Fieri's Sports Kitchen. I've also had a Pepsi comped before as well as 2 desserts (both at Gordon Ramsay restaurants no less). I actually prefer to pay for my meals for tax purposes so getting comps is not a motivating driver for me. In terms of permission, I ask my server before any meal if it's OK to make these RU-vid videos. I'd say about 10% of those requests go up to the managers who have always told me it's fine as long as I don't go around bothering other guests. I think a town like Vegas has become used to vlogger types being around at this point. Thanks for watching!
