Hi! I just recently canned beans for the first time and we have only tried the black beans that I soaked before canning. I wonder if that’s easier on the stomach than canning them dry? Makes me want to dump the other jars that I didn’t soak?
From what I’ve read- yes, soaking them is easier on the tummy. I would try your beans first, (although maybe a small amount, lol) I don’t know why the beans that I canned are so rough on us.. possibly also because we don’t eat a lot of beans in general. Going forward, I think I’ll just soak and cook mine as I need them.
Hi, yes it is the best thing to do is soak overnight. Soaking overnight and then discarding the soaking water leaches out sugars in beans that are responsible for gas production. Thanks so much for information and ideas we are two and basically eat the same but hard on ideas. Your great
yams are a whole different product. Sweet potatoes are from the potato family and yams are not. Yams are always orange. Sweet potatoes come in a different color.
