Top SA rider, Dino Iozzo, who will be racing on a Yamaha R6 over in Spain for 2022, shows off his skills on his Yamaha R1M machine here in SA around the Redstar track going clockwise. This lap he set a 1,52.1 lap time - earlier in the day he set a fastest time of 1,50.8
Points to note from this video:
• Dino goes curb to curb - doesn't waste any track - a short track is a fast track
• Notice as he finishes trail braking he immediately cracks on positive throttle. This helps settle the bike and takes pressure off the front and gets RPM up ready to blast out of turns. Also take note of how good his throttle control is, in and out of turns, using it to help steer the bike
• Body position - always over the front of the tank, elbows out leaning into corners with the bike - no resistance
