@@aliensdoexist6629 ...I see you sir. I think Twitter is a better way with him, but I'm not on that. I'll keep requesting it here, along with Diary of a Madman!
@@Chitownveteran ... He tried Rainbow, and RU-vid blocked him. Stargazer needs to happen though. Don't Talk to Strangers would be great for a solo Dio react
I met Dio after a concert, and we were the last in line. :) Every other group before us got about 20 minutes with the band, because we were the last group we ended up spending something like an hour and a half hanging out. One of the most amazing things is that a couple years later we got to meet him after a show again, and I kid you not, he remembered my name. Years later, and he remembered my name. That's just the kind of man that he was, he truly loved connecting with his fans. RIP Dio, the world is a darker place without you.
I had the privilege of meeting Ronnie as well. We always hung around tour buses after shows trying to meet the bands and possibly get an autograph or perhaps a concert tour t-shirt. Anyway, this particular time after the show (Dio with Dokken opening up), I just walked up and knocked on the bus' door...and who answered? The man himself. Dude was incredibly humble and approachable. Just "top-shelf." Just like what happened to yourself, Ronnie took the time to talk with us for over an hour. Real down to earth. It was our honor to get to chat with him for a bit...he is sorely missed.
Dio had the uncanny ability to remember peoples names. If you got to meet him. You became his friend. And he never forgot his friends. I met him after a show in, believe it or not, Dennys. We sat for almost 3 hours just shooting the breeze. He actually thanked us for going to the show too. He saw our tee shirts when we were getting seated. The great thing was, that we got to meet Jimmy Bain, and Craig Goldie. Along with a bunch of his crew. They stopped to get a bite before they headed to the next gig. He left a lasting impression on me that I still cherish today. I didn't get to meet him again. But that had to feel awesome when he remembered you, brother. I'm sure you have fantastic memories.
Kevin Barberio I love the story I heard about a teen missing his ride after a Dio concert. Ronnie seen him waiting after everyone had left. He came out and got the story and took him on the tour bus -delivered him to his front door. Dio was one of a kind.
Ronnie James Dio was one of the most talented frontmen ever. His body of work is incredible. There's stuff on RU-vid that he sang way back in the late 50s. His southern blues based rock with Elf is often overlooked, but also good. He was a beast in Rainbow and Black Sabbath, and you are becoming very familiar with his solo material. Roger Glover and Jon Lord of Deep Purple put together a rock opera in 1974 called "The Butterfly Ball and the Grasshopper's Feast" that featured a song called "Love Is All", sung by Dio. That song was a number one-hit in the Netherlands and Belgium for several weeks. He was an absolute treasure. I'm so glad I got to see him live before he passed.
Not only a GREAT singer......an unbelievably nice guy. Met him when my friend's band opened for him in Connecticut. He actually had his sound guys help us out during sound check, then stood in the wings and watched our whole show......and if that ain't enough, he stayed after his show for hours to hang out with fans.
metz ergenstein that doesn’t even begin to come close to the things both Ozzy & Sharon have said about Ronnie man. Ronnie bit his tongue for a very long time always taking the high road and actually giving Ozzy what little credit he deserved. But after awhile it just got to be ridiculous. Here we are some 30 years later and the only difference is that instead of Ozzy slandering Ronnie it’s done by idiots like you. Oh and by the way.... Ozzy is a fucking clown! Always has been and always will be and calling him the “soul” of Black Sabbath is a not only a joke it’s a big slap in the face to the actual souls of Black Sabbath and that’s Tony & Geezer.
@@jimshelby406 you got all wrong about what i did say, but it's ok...you think i don't like Dio, you're wrong, to me with Halford and Dickinson he is one of the best three voices of metal. Tell me what was BS with Tony and Geezer but without Ozz? Not even great singers like Martin, Hughes, even Gillan could bring back the success the original formation had. You can hate Ozz all you want, but truth is there is no Black Sabbath without him, at least, not at their best..
metz ergenstein no I didn’t get it wrong... this was a reaction to a live recording of The Last in Line by Dio. Most people are commenting on the song or on Ronnie but not you. You come in and comment on a 39 year old remark that I Ronnie made while defending himself against all the idiotic and slanderous things Ozzy and his poor excuse for a human being wife had been making about him for months up to that point. A fact that you conveniently left out or more likely didn’t even know about. No shock there as most Ozzy fans don’t know that Ozzy doesn’t write music or lyrics himself and never really has. He has Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, Bob Daisley, Randy Rhodes, Jake E Lee and many others to thank for everything he’s ever done. His idea of writing is to go get wasted and go check to see what the guys came up with. You also probably have no idea that Ozzy & Sharon have taken credit for music & lyrics written by others and failed to pay these musicians what’s rightfully there’s. We!’re talking millions of dollars too. As far as singers that Sabbath have been successful with besides Ozzy... is there a reason you left Dio off the list?!? Could it be because of the success those Dio albums had and how easily they stack up against anything they had done before or is it because Ronnie has stood on his own two feet his whole career as opposed to Ozzy who had ride the cost tails of so many people to get where he is today? So much for your “without Ozzy Sabbath hasn’tdone anything great’ theory. So yeah I got what you were saying.
Ronnie James Dio is one of those rare singers that didn’t need a ton of tech to sound stunning. Live, he always sounded pristine, just like he would on a record. Sometimes, the only way to tell he isn’t lip syncing is the typical “live performance” variations he would put into the songs. He was, and will forever remain, a master performer.
King KTF.. I saw this concert live in 1984 in Bonner Springs Kansas...20 miles west of Kansas City..outside arena.....best concert I ever saw..love the Ronnnie jamesDio!
Dio is the best metal singer ever!! Dickinson is good, even great, but dio is on another level. I saw this tour in San bernadino in 83..probably the only black person in the building....
@@onelove101unity Dio was and always will be a better singer than Bruce. Far sharper and more precise in the low to high changes and he had a more aggressive and raspy high voice, while his slow and lower parts are so smooth and soft.
@@martos60 Nope. Smaller vocal range, poorer technique, often slightly out of breath live which Bruce never is despite being far more active on stage. You could make a case for on record Dio maybe sounding better but live isn't even a contest. Still, I love both.
In my opinion: 1)Bruce 2)dio 3)halford Bruce has a better range, better breath control, bigger stage presence.... dio sounds better in a growl and has better punctuation of words. I think the catalogs of great vocals is far greater by bruce...... halford sounds meaner. But, really, we are nitpicking...... all three are great
CAVE BEAST I think you're right.. Many of these reaction videos are a complete joke, just a way to get a lot of views. . and I feel behind the scenes they're really not feeling the music- but Preston seems like a legit dude enjoying some good music!
@@chriswood232 pretty sure alex over reacts a bit too much , for the hype factor , whereas preston is 95% of the times authentic in his reaction , i mean lets be honest , reactors have to be a bit hype even if the dont really like the song , they dont wanna piss off people who like that music by seem bored
@@te0pa0k Yeah, I agree with you for the most part. I still think Alex seems pretty genuine but who can say? It's the reactors that are so transparently phony that I can't stand. Like... Who honestly has never heard the song Bohemian Rhapsody before? Seriously?
@Goddess Sky yeah, King its a lyrical genius and has one of the better range vocals ever. Too bad he is underrated and people dont know his masterpieces albuns
One thing I want to point out about the guitarist, Mr. Vivian Campbell. Since 1992 he has been the Rhythm Guitarist for Def Leppard. Dude is awesome and his work with Dio is unparalleled. I saw this tour live and it was EPIC.
I have never seen you so captivated by a performance in all your videos and I love it! Keep doing what you're doing bro! RIP Dio, this is my favorite song of his
It is an absolute shame that you never got to see this man live. I saw him several times, on 5 different albums. I also had the priviledge to meet him in person. His voice never aged either. Dio was the most iconic vocalist, spanning from bands like, Elf, Rainbow, Black Sabbath, and namesake band, Dio. You made my day reacting to that. He was one of my idols in my early teens and has continued to be in my middle age. Thanks again for the reaction video. You are just flat out awesome my friend.
That is kind of an obvious observation anyway, allthough I had never heard of that before. At the end of the day they are similar ages artistically anyway. One thing that is rather obvious, especialy after you read Dickinson's confession, is he was influenced by Ian Gillan, in fact the fact that he tried to immitate him even...
@@sean7735 nah Dio influenced them he used to do classical then went to rock and could do any real genre he wanted but stuck to Rock and Metal, had the most succesful career of any rock or metal singer in history, all bands he was in made more koney produced better songs when he was with them and was the Godfather of classic rock classic heavy metal, and a King or god of them in many ways
I loved this man's voice ever since I got into hard rock when I was 15. The 'Never, never, never...' part always makes the hairs on the my neck stand up. This performance on this song is one of my all-time favourites, he had a voice like thunder but could sound like an angels wings when he wanted to, miss him. Thanks for this man. Greetings from the UK bro!
Ronnie sang to the fans all the way at the back. Chris Cornell told a story about meeting him and he said, "It's not about the size of your pencil, but how big you can write your name."
Can I please introduce you to Liliac Band, a family of young rockers? Their frontwoman is 19 yr old Melody and she was heavily influenced by Ronnie when she was younger. Since then, she has developed the most incredible rock voice; like cut diamonds in her throat. Recently, Vinny Appice, drummer for Black Sabbath and Dio, has sorta adopted her and her siblings into his life and has given Melody the nick; Melo-Dio, the reincarnation of RJD. The other night he had her sit in with his band at a club and she sang 4 DIO songs. I sure hope you dive into their playlist and enjoy a phenomenal band who is bringing our rock back. Anyway, thanks for doing this reaction, Ronnie is one of the best vocalist in rock history!! Liliac recently did a tribute for the Dio Cancer Fundraiser as an invite from Wendy Dio. The were given Last In Line to do and they did it in one week in their basement. You won't regret listening to this band of kids.
in 1984 {before the internet}...this was the the best form of entertainment we had back then...so awesome live and many great memories of going to many live concerts ...
My brother and I were at that actual concert in Philly! Seen DIO many times and he never disappointed. RIP Dio, RIP Philadelphia Spectrum. I miss that venue. I saw Maiden, Priest, Dio, Metallica, Megadeth, Twisted Sister, WASP and many others there.
Cody Hanna Nope. They tore it down about 5 years ago. Right before they did the public was able to come in and take a peice of it. A chair, a sign, whatever. I wasn’t able to get there that day, but a buddy of mine grabbed a chair. Pretty cool. The Spectrum was THE place to go for big concerts in the Philly area
The never never never never never part isn't on the studio version and he didn't even miss to change tone when he did it. Rainbow - Stargazer with Dio singing is probably the ultimate Dio song or it's time for some Metallica Seattle 89, try Battery since you did the studio version and it's EVEN more intense when they did it live!
stargazer? lol no, this tune with the band he has here blows away anything from richie blackmore. drums, guitar work, the energy and intensity defines heavy metal. blackmore tunes don't define heavy metal or even remotely match dio with this lineup.
I still have my ticket stub to this show, I was 13. I seen Dio, Maiden, Metallica, Queensryche, Pantera, (the list goes on an on) at the old Philadelphia Spectrum. A ton more at The Trocadero, Electric Factory and many other venues. The 80's -90's metal scene in Philly/South Jersey was friggin awesome. Tons of great local bands too, eg. Deadly Blessing. (Check them out, sick riffs with soaring high vocals) 🤘🏻🎸🤘🏻
@@monicajean37 you may be right. it's possible but I remember this tour and them promoting it as the first million dollar stage show. I don't believe Ozzy had all the lazers and lights as this tour did. ☮️
@@johnduval8891 at the time they were the only 2 bands back then besides KISS that had large production, wait oh my gosh I could go on forever Iron Maiden had a great production set up with EDDIE ETC.. wonder how much it cost to build Eddie? last time I saw Maiden was summer of 2017, they brought ALL OF THERE EDDIES it was such a killer show LOL

I was in 10th grade in 1984. I recently ly took my son (U of L Engineering School) and several of his fraternity buddies to watch an 80's tribute band called Hairbangers Ball. They were absolutely blown away. They all said they were born in the wrong era for music. They loved the 80s Rock. Dio was the Sh!t. Great bands from that era like Metallica, def Leppard, etc. Keep up the good work Preston. Happy to see you recognize the real talent in Dio.
There were so many good shows in the 80s! I'm glad I got to see them live. Go see as many as you can now before (like dio, cornell, staley etc etc) they are gone.
I saw DIO in 1984 and out of ALL THE BANDS I’ve ever seen, his concert was like going to a church service because when it was over I felt amazingly happy and charged! Keep up the classic reactions they are the best ones on RU-vid!!! PEACE!!!!!

I was fortunate enough to see Dio while I was stationed in Germany. He was the best act at that particular Monters of Rock! His stage presence alone was worth the concert. Master showman! Love this video!
I saw him live. If you think seeing him on video is cool, imagine seeing this 5 foot guy coming out and just blowing you away with his voice alone. He became my favorite metal vocalist after seeing him live twice. Then I hear he would stay late to meet fans and he did. He went off on his manager for pressuring him to leave the fans because they had to head out to the next gig. He did not leave until everyone got a pic, drumstick, guitar pic and or autograph, EVERYONE. He was amazing at his craft and just as amazing in person. As far as artists go for me, Dio and Prince are the absolute best in their craft. My number one artist of all time is Prince my number one Metal vocalist is Dio.
when i was 6 i hear dio for the first time after that my habit of listening to pop music fade away .now i am 19 years old and i am still chilling in his song.............. thanks to my brother metal 4ever
I was fortunate enough to see RJD at the Spectrum in Philly in both '86 and '88. When the 18 foot tall dragon came out over the drummer it was the most awesome show you could have hoped to be a part of. Great performer all around.
Look at your percentage of thumbs up to the down. Best ratio ever on your channel. Duo is a god , the best front man live and in studios. Every song u do. It should be a live version. WELCOME to the DIO WORLD.
I knew this one would leave teeth marks on you. I was at the Sacred Heart tour 7th row and it was more than amazing. Only bested by Rob Halford. I do like the studio version a tad better only because the band is cleaner and the guitar work isn't as washed out. Still a great listen.
The guitarist is Vivian Campbell he's now a member of Def Leppard since 1992, and also worked with Thin Lizzy, Whitesnake, Sweet Savage, Trinity, Riverdogs, and Shadow King.
Yeah James Dio was a living Legend. His voice was awesome no one can compare. If you look at him and hear his talking voice it blows you away when he starts singing!
Preston, DIO was so cool guy, loved by his fans.... Dio used to hug all Fans that he met at airports or other places. A man loved by his fans and musicians.
One of my favorite songs of all time thank you for Preston for for doing it, been a while since you've done some Megadeth you should do peace sells or tornado of Souls
@@blacktower7777 I don't know about best metal solo ever I've heard a couple that compare definitely up there but it's definitely the best solo in Megadeths catalog Marty Freeman's a beast
Ronnie James Dio was a master performer on stage, fearless, confident, relaxed and that voice! He was able to pull his audience in to his world and take them on a trip of highs and lows and leave them smiling. His stage craft reminds me of Bon Scott (not comparing their voices, very different but both great lyricists and Bon was a helluva singer who matched AC/DC perfectly); a glint and a sparkle in the eye, out to have fun and hoping to bring everyone with them. "Rock 'n' Roll Singer" by AC/DC, now there's a tune!
