He lives, when he died speedwagon foundation took his brains out, and are making body simular to that of Ultimate Kars, so they could then transfer speedwagons mind into kars body, and make, THE ULTIMATE SPEEDWAGON!
1:14 is one of my favorite images of part 1. It perfectly shows Jonathan still doesn't hate Dio despite everything that happened so recently. Dio is still his brother and he can't bring himself to hate Dio. He couldn't pull the trigger. Despite everything Jonathan will always love his brother and can never truly hate him. He keeps this idea all the way through phantom blood. Jonathan's heart has endless kindness despite Dio's endless cruelties. Meanwhile it shows Speedwagon gun smoking as he was willing to act. Speedwagon had similar experiences to Dio most likely as they both grew up in the slums of London. The difference between Speedwagon and Dio is the fact that Dio hated Jonathan's noble spirit. However for Speedwagon the moment he saw that noble spirit he went out of his way to defend Johnathan from both the gangs of Ogre Street and the monster that Dio has become. He call out Dio's true personality and sees him for what he truly is.
He's pretty hesitant at this point because he still thinks of Dio as human and yeah Dio and Jonathan grew up together for like 6 years so he hesitates. However after what happens in this scene and Jonathan sees that Dio is irredeemable he loses that hesitation. When they're at the top of the burning Joestar mansion and JoJo recalls his childhood with Dio, it's at that moment that Jonathan decided that he will bury that childhood with Dio and tells Dio that he hates him and wants vengeance against him.
I loved this Dio so damn much as a villian. You get to see how much of a horrible person he was even before he becomes a vampire and even after that his methodology is even more badass. Truly a villian to be reckoned with.
For me, Phantom Blood always feels more like fantasy mixed with gothic thriller and greek tragedy. Almost all of the major events take place at night, and in rather eerie places too. The Joestar Mansion, Ogre Street, Windknight's Lot. It really sets it apart from all the other entries in the series
One of the great things about anime adaptions after a Manga has finished. The studio are free to add foreshadowing moments, and little Easter eggs which I find great!
Oh my god......KEEP SHOOTING! WHAT'S THE MATTER??? IF ONE SHOT DOESN'T KILL HIM, GIVE HIM SOME MORE! *Top ten most effective ways to end an anime series*
Can we acknowledge that despite everything Dio did to Jonathan, he still couldn't bring himself to shoot Dio. Also, despite only knowing Jonathan for only a couple of hours Speedwagon is willing to kill to protect him.
This is partially why you gotta watch the first season. You don't get this level of gore for most of the series. I think Golden Wind comes close as times, but nothing like ripping off the tip half of a dudes head.
A vampire loose in London in the 1880s. Aztec vampires trying to become fabulous ultimate beings. Stand-on-Stand combat in Egypt, Japan, Italy, and the US. All because of one Stagecoach crashing in Victorian times.
Jonathan and Speedwagon are quite the duo. Jonathan saw Dio as his own blood until the very end from not being able to shoot him, to dying with him (well Dio didn't die but whatevs, JoJo didn't know that.) Speedwagon on the other hand? oh naw, Speedwagon sees evil he gon pull the trigger.
Johnathan: Hoooo you're approaching, knowing I have a gun you still continue to charge forward Dio: I can't suck your blood if I don't move closer Johnathan: HO HO, then come as close as you like
For everyone saying part 1 would make a great classical theater and such. Rejoice, this year, Phantom Blood Musical was officially performed in Japan, and the Blu-rays should be released by the end of the year. It was truly a brilliant musical.
I thought this was going to be Dio Brando vs Koichi's Dog, Police. Surely anyone can sympathize with my displeasure, disappointment, dare I say grief that was felt upon realizing that was not the case.
