What is the flare like over the hood? The problem I’ve seen in the installs is that the lights are so bright on the hood that it’s almost blinding when you flip them on… I mounted some driving lights in my front grill for use with fog lines when driving, but I’d like to add spots as well… just nervous to shoot it over the hood… great vid and thanks..
Hello Rich. You are absolute right. Being that my car is white I was getting a lot of light bouncing off the hood. I had to end up pointing them further to the sides so avoid it blinding me. What I ended up doing was wrapping part of my hood with black in order to absorb some of the light. Plus I like how it looks.
In the old days when people mounted KC day lighters on their roll bars on their trucks, it lit up the hood so much that you really couldn’t see in the distance because of the brightness of the illuminated hood. That’s why I mounted my led lights in the grill… no flare
I’m the same way. I’d like some spots on the roof racks or over the hood, but the glare is not what I want. Mounting the ones on the front grill worked out well for me, but they are to fill in the gap when I use my high beams and no one is coming my way. I don’t off-road, so I don’t need a huge light bar to light up the night… And I’m not sure what you mean by flare like over the hood. Explain it a bit to me and I’ll respond. Enjoy your ride! Cheers
No, not really. When I was younger people always put KC Daylighters on their rollbars on their trucks. They were super bright, but the glare and reflection off the hood destroyed your vision. Unless it’s on the very front of your ride, it doesn’t work well for me… hope that helps! Cheers
