Sorry for the late response. I actually upgraded my lights to the ones sold by a company called Factor4. I highly recommend them. I think you will like them better. They look better too in my opinion. www.factor4.co
No, not really. When I was younger people always put KC Daylighters on their rollbars on their trucks. They were super bright, but the glare and reflection off the hood destroyed your vision. Unless it’s on the very front of your ride, it doesn’t work well for me… hope that helps! Cheers
They did, but because my car did not come equipped with fog lights, I had to get after market brackets. They unfortunately were not compatible with the diode dynamics brackets.
watched your video, thank you for sharing. I have some follow up questions. For context, i installed an RNO bumper like yours. I have had it on for almost a year, the problem i just encountered, which you pointed out in your video, is that the hose for the condenser is too small and too close to the arm of the bumper frame. apparently mine has rubbed so much from offroading and bumps on regular drives that it has caused a leak which triggered a "hybrid system malfunction" error message. The tech at the dealership says it is the hose and that it possibly damaged the connection port at the condenser. I am wondering if you have encountered any issues after your installation, i am also wondering if you went back at any point and made any modifications to accomodate the hose. The dealership wants to charge me about 10k for repairs and to restore it to factory default. I have the original bumper and parts minus some clips that broke. also my wheel well liners and bottom liner gave out after some time due to lack of support or lack of attachment to the new bumper. I have also experienced bumper rub to the wings of the RNO bumper again due to lack of support. let me know if you have addressed any of this with your build. i would like to find a solution for my rav that still alows me to keep the rno bumper. thank you for your time and consideration.
Hello, Sorry for the late response. I’m going to try and explain it the best I can but to be honest it will probably be very confusing. I cut the part of the plate that rubs on the hose (this is the plate that goes attached to the car, not the one that is attached to the bumper). I did this to get rid of the pressure this plate creates on the hose. I then bought longer screws (4 - 1 1/2 inch) to replace the exciting ones that came with the bumper. Each plate uses two screws to hold the bumper. I proceeded to put in between the plates a total of 3 washers on each screw. I did this to create space in between the second plate (that I did not cut) and the hose. This has left about half an inch of space in between the hose and the plate that is attached to the bumper. I apologize if this was not clear. I know this is very confusing but if you give me a day or so, I will work on a quick video to illustrate what I just attempted to explain.
Imagine this pathetic attempt is gonna fool anybody. I knew you were a liar the moment I saw your Rav4 Prime raptor lights tutorial because it was neither a Rav4 Prime or a tutorial. Once a liar, always a liar!
The XSE manual say you can't put snow chains on 19 inch tires do to the clearance. Already incidents of snow chains causing break lines to severe and other issues due to the clearance. If you don't drive in a state where snow chains are mandatory in certain conditions you should not have to worry about it. Love the look though.
Hello Dean. Thank you for that information. Luckily I live in California and rarely do I encounter snow, but it’s most definitely great information to know. I will be giving my rav a 1.5 inch lift soon. Hopefully that solves future issues. Thanks again. I appreciate it.
I went with the LP1 18x8 rims and Toyo open country AT3. 235/60 R18 and love the look. I might have been able to run the 235/65 R18 but didn't want to chance it in the front. I also did 5% tint on all the rear windows. 30% in the front. looks sick!
I looked into those too but they were not going to be available for a while they said. These are nice cars to work on. They are reliable and will get you to most places if properly equipped. At least that’s what I think.
@@ventureobp Well I only have 126 miles on mine and i'm breaking her in slowly. I need to get at least 500 miles on the gas motor. Then I'll start using EV mode.
Hello Nick. To be honest, No. I feel no difference in the handling of the car. It did come with some basic instructions. But nothing seems to go in those other holes. At least not in the Prime.
I just did this install on my 2021 R4P XSE. Yes, there are two additional bolts which go into those two other holes. Cusco provides the bolts and the nuts (with clever handles welded to the nuts so you can get them into position.) Just don't over torqued those other two bolts beyond about 25 ft-lbs, as the heads will twist off. Don't ask my how I know 🙂 Also, you can take a hacksaw and cut away part of that bracket which was removed, so it will now fit along side the strut bar and hold up the A/C tube bracket.
What is the flare like over the hood? The problem I’ve seen in the installs is that the lights are so bright on the hood that it’s almost blinding when you flip them on… I mounted some driving lights in my front grill for use with fog lines when driving, but I’d like to add spots as well… just nervous to shoot it over the hood… great vid and thanks..
Hello Rich. You are absolute right. Being that my car is white I was getting a lot of light bouncing off the hood. I had to end up pointing them further to the sides so avoid it blinding me. What I ended up doing was wrapping part of my hood with black in order to absorb some of the light. Plus I like how it looks.
In the old days when people mounted KC day lighters on their roll bars on their trucks, it lit up the hood so much that you really couldn’t see in the distance because of the brightness of the illuminated hood. That’s why I mounted my led lights in the grill… no flare
I’m the same way. I’d like some spots on the roof racks or over the hood, but the glare is not what I want. Mounting the ones on the front grill worked out well for me, but they are to fill in the gap when I use my high beams and no one is coming my way. I don’t off-road, so I don’t need a huge light bar to light up the night… And I’m not sure what you mean by flare like over the hood. Explain it a bit to me and I’ll respond. Enjoy your ride! Cheers
I requested a tubular design when I purchased but they said no. I like the look of yours much better then the square one that came on mine. You got lucky
I had read "Man Made Disaster" in 1964 in junior high school and arranged to have my brother drive us up to the dam site. It has changed a good bit over the past 57 years. First, we drove up the old road, and it was clear where the dam was because the terrain to the north of the site was lush, green and wooded. The area below was still scoured and nearly barren. The wing wall was intact, and the steps of the "tombstone" were more visible. We brought back a chunk of concrete from one of the downstream sections. I went back in the late 1980s. I hooked up with a Boy Scout troop and their scoutmasters, one who had a copy of the book. It was interesting to be among young men who were my age when I first saw the dam. It was clear that the wing wall had been demolished with explosives, not natural weathering. We went together to San Francisquito Powerplant # 1 and had a fascinating tour. The Pelton Wheel generators still had their "50 Hz buckets", designed to generate 50-cycle power that ran Los Angeles until the early 1950s. We had also talked our way into Powerplant # 2 during our 1964 trip. We saw the transformer that was wrenched out of the basement and tossed down the canyon, fished out, welded back together and re-used. I have visited the ruins of the South Fork Dam above Johnstown, PA, and, at the end of the summer, I am going on a military history tour in Belgium and France, then flying to Italy to see the Vajont Dam, the site of the October, 1963 landslide that sent a 750' tsunami down a narrower canyon, killing over 3,000 people. I have long been haunted about the St. Francis Dam. I will return sometime, in the next few years,
Great content young man well done. A good source is a book entitled Cadillac Desert by Marc Reisner. When I lived in Palmdale I frequently traveled the San Francisquito Canyon Rd. down to Santa Clarita and on to the beaches at Ventura. Passed by that spot many times. Keep up the good work !!
