Maverick mi just watch the video before this one and dropped a comment suggesting something that could grow your channel and hear you are at the beginning of the video saying you want to grow the channel what a coincidence. On the issue of this “entitled generation” you are perfectly right. I have been saying this for years. Best and most credible opinion, FAIR AND FACTUAL
Maverick, I truly enjoy these debates, and I must say, I live for them! However, I have to give this one to you, hands down. It's not that you are dismissing the existence of bullying, mental health issues, or abuse. What I see you are pointing out, and I agree with, is that the threshold to trigger these reactions has become lower than ever before. Children today seem to struggle with handling conflicts effectively. They aren't growing up with as many opportunities to navigate disagreements with their peers, like we did when we played outside and dealt with conflicts head-on. Many of them don't face serious challenges until they reach university or enter the workplace. What I believe would have resonated more with Dionne, is that while some of what we're labeling as abuse is indeed abuse, our focus should be on raising our children to be more resilient and better equipped to handle it. That's the key. Rory stepping..lol
Maverick you are 100% right, she is trying too hard to be an America, because it's the same thing that is happening in America, entitlement, soft, privileged, you see it exactly for what it is.
Facts Maverick! The generation (gen z onwards) grew up in a technological era which means the global world and everything was at their fingertips. This also meant that said info was at their parents’ fingertips resulting in a sheltered upbringing. I.e., all di worries and fears of the world were no longer geographically concentrated. Anything happens inna any community can go viral and reach all corners of the globe. Say all a that to say our behaviors are starkly different from generations of the past. The difference is that older generations have tactics to maneuver these days “new” issues - such as cyber bullying - but the younger folks who grew up with technology so not have that ability (readily). While we can point to one group being on the eye test more resilient, i think our current younger generation may be resilient in other ways. But, contextually, I fully agree on your point. Mi a STEP! Bless
@@teamnolimit1lifestyle281 yeah good for you, but some kids killed themselves in my days. I'm almost 50. Every generation say the next generation soft, same thing they said about my generation music etc
People these days are so thin skin and and easily offended. Everything triggers them. I had to block some of them from my WhatsApp because of their insecurities smh
I was homeless, did drugs, went into prison, where I got to know God. He changed my life. Now I have a home, a wife and a lovely year old daughter (zoe), and a stream of income that gats me $47,000 weekly. Plus a new identity - a child of God, Hallelujah!!!!🇺🇲❣️♥️♥️
YES!!! That's exactly her name (Mary Margaret Schimweg) so many people have recommended highly about her😊 and am just starting with her Brisbane Australia🇭🇲
You have a point but cyber bullying in more than name calling , people can actually destroy your life and reputation online .. I agree with you about the mental toughness though
It’s important to remember that having formal education in a subject doesn’t make someone the sole authority on the topic. Everyone brings unique perspectives, and being knowledgeable or having experience can be just as valuable as formal study. Sometimes, people use their qualifications to assert dominance in a discussion, but that doesn’t mean others are less capable of contributing meaningfully. Maverick gwan do yuh ting , you are very knowledgeable, informative and intellectual. What you comment on in 9 or 10 minutes is very impactful than a talk show for 1 , 2 hours
I work in the mental health industry. This man is ignorant and lacks any common sense in this topic. How about you visit Pub Med and read some studies and come back and express your thoughts.
Maverick, I put the question to you. Do you think it would be beneficial to today's youth to be subject to a mandatory service to the Military of their country of citizenship? especially Jamaican youths. Countries such as Brazil, Algeria and Iran has measures in place to facilitate this. I believe that this would instill a level of discipline and "toughness" needed to prepare them both mentally and physically to become functional members of society. I guess the question is, does the constitution allow for it? and how accepting are the general public towards a move like this? but most importantly, who will fund this move if made a reality? Overall though, I believe discipline in most instances, are lacking in today's society as you have pointed out.
Yeah man, pickney dem soft. I was one of the smallest boys in 1st form at Ardenne, every other day mi fight cause somebody try ah ting, try pick pon mi, mi sort out dat. Who have time fi bawl bout "I'm being bullied". KMT
Context and perspective matters. Now is different from then, the same methods cannot be exercised. Back then religion had more grounds, politicians were more respected, there were things in society that acted as models. There is no direction in society today and the current generation cannot be blamed for that, they are not responsible for the environment that influences who they become.
Yes! taking the extreme of an argument as a premise, in an attempt to disprove the validity of the very said argument. Her argument would also constitute another fallacy, that is ,"appeal to pity".
I agree with you Maverick. Psychologist are pushing this foolishness of gentle parenting! It is creating a bunch of wusses. We have co-opted a lot of USA attitudes. I am working in corporate America and these young college graduates are testament of the flaky generation. They get offended at everything and need mental health time out for everything, including not recognizing their gender.😮
Real issue with today society today for real Mav the soft foreign way of life is fully planted in jamaica today especially the men's of tomorrow coming up them flaky!!! The women them a get rougher than them!!!
Generational gap/ insensitivity- I don’t know what flaky really means but remember we grew up outside unlike this generation. We are still gathering the data, so far opinions vary… so I suggest the best path to travel is one of great empathy…
Oral reacy you are so right if you read the letter by Williams lynch called (The Making Of A Slave ) this is the out come is we forget where we are coming from cc
Cyberbullying can be much more complex than just running your mouth, Maverick. It is difficult to ignore people spreading rumors, posting embarrassing photos or videos, and sharing your personal information that can spread worldwide in nanoseconds. Once something is posted, it is permanent, making it difficult to avoid. For many children, the internet is a core part of their education and where they express themselves. This is a new dispensation, and these kids are navigating a complex landscape. Additionally, mental health was not a thing in Jamaica unless it was a severe case like schizophrenia, but many suffered silently from emotional abuse causing crime and other behavioral issues in our society or even carrying over generational trauma.
Exactly, he is comparing naming face to face name calling or physical fighting from back in his day. He is needs to do more research. He is just making generalizations.
Maverick is 100percent right….My friends use to tease me and “bully” me when I was around 9 because I use to cry a lot for almost everything and guess what…one day I just stopped crying and started laughing at them. When they saw that they literally said to me”yea man yo a tun a man now” and they stopped picking on me…and that prepared me to face individuals that would hate me for whatever reason or none but because I was prepared mentally already.Nothing anyone could say in my face could affect me.And that was in person. Now your telling me about online lol!!! The US and UK has done a good job in their agenda.
@@r410a6 God bless you! He’s not entirely right about cyberbullying, but I agree that this generation could benefit from learning better-coping mechanisms. That said, there are pros and cons to how far we go in making our kids “tough.” Toughness can be subjective-what some of us view as toughness might actually be emotional suppression, which can lead to bigger problems down the road without us even noticing it. Many of us who experienced hardships growing up wouldn’t want our children to go through the same struggles, so we’ve worked to pave the way for them. But is that enough? Not really! The real challenge is finding a balance between building strength and maintaining emotional well-being. How can we effectively achieve both? That’s the question we need to address.
@@commoncents1822 Very thorough and logical truths and questions you’ve responded with.True it’s not a one shoe fits all because every child or children is different in terms of sensitivity. But it actually starts with the parents mostly. And of course toughening up is not in terms of abuse but to communicate with your child, helping them to have insight or discernment that will help them navigate.
Maverick women have 2 tongues. They just love to argue. if you have taken the other side of the story, she would not agree with you. she is just trying to pick an argument. back in the day we had mad house where we use to put people in. there is no mad house anymore. we still have mental problem. back in the days if someone want to say something about you. they have to say it to your face. Today we are soft we can stay behind a keyboard and say anything we feel like. don't pay her any mid. just keep stepping Maverick. mi watching you stepppppinnnnggggg.
I agree with everything you say Maverick. Flaky Generation Boys walking around with shoe brush in their bags/ pockets to brush off every speck of dust off their Clarks. Brush before they leave school, brush as they walk along the road, brush when they get to the bus stop, brush in the taxi and brush just before they go into their yard.....lol. Flaky bredda, and boacy. Dis generation of young people not normal bredda.
Mi normally have issues with some of mavericks talking point but this is certainly not one of them.....had a similar discussion with a coworker and as a man him hold the same view as Dionne......always pampering and now the kids older is crazy issues .....kids today lack any kind of toughness or mental fortitude to handle situations .....instead the adults groom this flaky delicate behavior and then when they entire the real world they can't function.....and ofc the bs of "mental health" its this flakyness causing majority of these so-called issues .....becuase parents treating kids like they are friends ....your kids are not your friends....teach them life lessons to survive in the real world instead this endless and needless pampering.
She is one of the reason why we as a nation are so soft because u ponder to BS . you have to prepare your kids for the coldness of this world n the fact you have to stand up fight for what you want...
I truly agree with you on this one. Talk truth!!!! I don't know why so many people suffer from low self esteem but I think it has to do with Guidance and Counselling in schools. Bullying? What's that?
I agree with you Oral. If a man step on your toes there is nothing u can do about the man actions, meaning you don't control the man and at that point u feel the physical pain; however if man tell u bout your mother, how that affect you is how you let it..
Maverick you are right. Simple tings. Social media is too much for you. Log off, disconnect? But here is the real issue at hand. You cannot force people to like you. You can’t control what people say. That has always been and will continue. Just look at the youths today soft. This lady sounds out of touch with reality all together. Subscribed!!! Stepping!!
Dont know who mek up da cyberbullying term deh but that a bull. As u say all you neded to do is come off the phone. Whicheva social media platform. Also u have block n delete in some instances. But bottom line you have control cause your not being physically approached .
@Mav - Whatever happened to "sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can't"? I lost count of the times I unsubscribed from a vlogger's channel because I didn't agree with his politics. I didn't try to change his mind, I simply unsubscribed. Am I a part of "cancel culture"? Freedom of choice is a one hell of a thing. ...Stepping, Mav... Stepping...stepping right pass Dionne and the much-ado-about-cyber-bullying-nothing-nonsense... Stepping a bjt faster... Mav... The Flaky-shakey monster coming... Bwoy, Mav, mi step turn trot... Mi a trot, Mav... Mi no waan Dionne fling big-stone-statistics lik minin a mi head, han defeat mi granny common sense, suh mi a trot lively, Mav... Trotting, Mav... Mi a put Dionne hout a sight han out a mind...
I have to with you, Maverick, on this one, I am 80s baby, and I had to endure verbal and sometimes physical bullying growing up. I had to learn to stand my ground, I also bullied some kids, too, that I regret, but this time and atmosphere makes this generation ridiculously soft. Everyone mad it seems because everyone sudden a worry about mental health, my mother and father had to figure things for us, I didn't see no sign of them breaking not saying they didn't have difficulty but them youths ya nuh militant.
She is typical of some of today's know-it-alls, and their psychobabble. They don't want to accept how standards are/have been eroded, they just want to be popular. As a 68 year old I am disheartened by the apologist who can't or won't accept that the mollycoddling is not the answer to the problems facing today's youths. And yes Maverick that they have become soft, and we as adults are to blame. We took our eyes off the ball giving the youths no boundaries and then we expect them not to take liberties. Me nah say everything was a bed of roses when I was younger, or that physical punishments is the way to go, but if we as adults are not able to set standards of behaviour, how then can we expect the youths to take the right paths.
