27:52 Starmer is not a charismatic populist politican, nor is he a great orator. Personally I find those apparent negatives a refreshing change from the narcissistic egomaniacs we've had to deal with recently. Beyond that I give him a lot of credit for not kowtowing to the Murdoch press who are now only relevant because the rest of online media keep them relevant. However it's undeniable that Starmer and other Minsiters could and should be communicating directly with public an order of magnitude more effectively than they have been. Gone are the days when a Prime Minister or any Minister needs to wait for some high pressure interview on TV to communicare their message - they could simply prepare a weekly or even monthly statement to read to camera and release a video to be broadcast across all social media to be picked up by terrestrial TV. "This is what we're doing and this is why we're doing it, and this is what we hope will be the result." As it is, the only people we ever see our Prime Minsiter talking to are other politicians and (typically) rabidly right wing journalists. The only way to efffectively deal with a 'post truth' era, is to tell the truth and do so as authentically and honestly as possible. Put another way, if you're broad philosophy is country before party, then talk to the country and not the Westminister Bubble.
“We are led by the least among us - the least intelligent, the least noble, the least visionary. We are led by the least among us and we do not fight back against the dehumanizing values that are handed down as control icons.” - Terence McKenna
I expect a govt. to change taxes, that's part of their main responsibility. To not adjust taxes to compensate for a changing world is a dereliction of duty. I'm not talking Truss re-writes, just nudges. On the topic of gifts for politicians, they either need to be illegal, or fully publicly audited prior to gifting. It should not be an MPs responsibility to report bribes, they should be passed on from a central civil service office. If you pay an MP directly the police should be calling.
Every "Israeli" interviewed in the media always speaks with an American or English accent. But Palestinian, Lebanese, or Jordanians have accents of the country of their birth. I wonder why ?
I use to be an avid listener but I really can’t stand how much he interrupts his callers. Please just let them get their point across before you tell them how much more brilliant you are
@@HelenBain-th9nm totally agree. It just gets annoying when someone who is even on his side of an issue can’t get their point across before he starts in. I just really don’t like the interruptions. Let your callers, especially the sane ones, get their point across. I don’t dislike the show but sometimes it’s just too annoying to listen.
@@KathleenMayotte Quite well put. I also wish that he would just let people present their thoughts first, especially when they have gotten through the screening by the producers already, before he comments. Sometimes it's so infuriating, when he cuts interesting comments off! I wanna know! Let them talk, guide them okay, but let them talk, please! 1:01:29 This is so funny though! He's doing much better with politicians than callers. He's getting under their skin...
You should see American media. I assume you’re now seeing what we weee seeing 5 years ago. American media particularly right wing media should be seen so you know what to expect there.
Jenrick will win. He is also best for business. The consequences will unfold that the conservatives will split. Some will go to reform and some will go to lib dems. The results will unfold at the next election
Are you really all talking about this in the UK? One private issue after the other. I guess it's just deflection from what's really important. Or you just love gossip.
@ibexdnb2879 No the 1.4 million is just James's listners. James is by statics the most popular radio talk show host in the UK & I think UK's most popular ever.
Swift an extremely wealthy person that support agendas that are to the detriment of the vast majority enjoy access to police protection that we can only dream of.
@@TheDeeLarkin Here is another example. You have celebs that fly thousands of miles from LA to London to attend an extinction rebellion protest. To tell the plebs we should do more for the environment. Such a flight is equivalent to 6 months of carbon that I produce..
Musk is someone who just happens to be extremely rich.what exactly is his qualification to have opinions on politics or world affairs.the less said about tate.these are self appointed opinion makers.their opinions are no more important then you,i or anyone else.
@@greamespens1460 it aint 10 years ago is it.weve since had boris johnson, nigel farage and donald trump.all pretty dubious characters and all 3 i suspect musk is on friendly terms with.
@@timthegallantPre Musk Twitter removed the POTUS and regardless of what you think of Trump they chose to keep the Taliban on their platform. What are the facts upon which you are basing your opinion? How and why are the Labour party, after 3 months in power, ten times worse than the Conservatives who were in power for 14 years and who left the country in a much worse state than it was when they were elected in?
